The schedule has been crazy for the Magic. If we somehow win the game in Milwaukee, we'll play 18 road games compared to 10 home games. That will be 4 or 5 more games played than some other teams.
Our offense hasn't been good, but it'll be much better with days off and home games.

We have the second lowest 3pt percentage in the league at 31.3 percent, only .1 away from being tied for dead last. We rank 11th for most 3pt attempts per game with 38.1.
This is bad coaching, plain and simple. Suggs was 0-8 from three last night. Mosley, from my perspective, is more interested in being friends with our players than he is in being their coach. I don't believe the players fear him in any way because they know he is going to rarely, if ever, hold them accountable.
There is no reason of any kind that we should be anywhere near the top 10 in 3PA, when we shoot as poorly as we do from that range. If this doesn't stop I want Mosley gone. You can't be a competent head coach if you don't understand the limitations of your players.

kind of hard to "work around" guys who are supposed to be shooters just flat out missing shots. I fear that this is just who Suggs is...on/off shooter, great defender. Last year's shooting was an outlier, not a sign of his arrival. He may go 5-6 next game but he is who he is. Good to see KCP at least creeping back towards who he really is and has been for years.
Tough night...but let's remember that our best big-game player is on the sideline. NY is a very good team and built to stop big wings (they weren't really targeting ORL's but it works the same as stopping BOS)

The team will shoot much better with days off and more home games. I'm not worried about it. I think we'll end up somewhere around 15th in offense by the end of the season.

I agree we shouldn't be taking quite as many 3PA but there is a reason we are near top 10. We are getting so many wide open 3PA and in this league we simply shouldn't be passing them up or it will just lead to highly contested twos. It's a tough thing to say especially with how poor we have been shooting but we have to trust guys to start making wide open threes. Approximately 58% of our 3PA have been wide open.

I don't blame him. I blame people who thought playing garbage G league is "NBA like experience".
He is rookie experience vise.
Even his "preparation" in G league was complete mess, they just dumped 26% usage on him and gave him green light to shoot himself into solid numbers and he wasn't prepared for SPECIFIC role he will have on main roster. 3 and D, off ball movement, catch and shoot, curls, cuts, handoffs.
In G league he was given "main dog" role. One he will never have on team with Franz and Banchero ( or any other nba team for that matter). It gave me that Gordon year 3 vibe where he was "developed " into role he never had talent to play in actually competitive setting, if goal is anything but tanking.
As for rest, we got whooped by very good team, no big deal. Hopefully they can keep heads up and fight back vs 76ers.
Game started with us giving Suggs green light to play like he is prime Steph Curry. Despite fact he didn't even start off hot.
Knicks probably played better than they are ? Maybe? Brunson / Towns duo is hard to cover. I said before season started that Towns on East is instant top 10 player, and his impact tonight, on offense felt. Moe clapping on a road is something i can live without for rest of my days

The starting lineup was +1 in their first stint, +1 in their second stint, and -16 in their third stint (to start the 3rd).
The Knicks had 15-2 and 12-4 runs in the first quarter across multiple rotations, and then quickly in the second had a 12-3 run. Just brutal, nothing we did adjustment wise worked.
And then getting absolutely smacked coming out of halftime?
Brutal.

Honestly it was like that 15 years ago, at least to a degree. It's just kind of how the internet works, especially when you're reacting to something live, without any time to process the event or put it in perspective.

The issue is that Orlando is horrible offensively. The team leads the league in wins whilst scoring less than 100 points. That is not something to be proud of. And Mosley is proud of it.
Look: Mosley is a good coach, but he is not an X-O coach. This game proved that, yet again.

The NBA season is really long and sometimes the team you cheer for just has a really bad night and it’s just not really any deeper than that.
It’s not worth ripping your hair out over. There’s always another game, especially in December.

Plenty of options to attack from the right wing while Franz was drawing attention on the left side.
Sadly our next best ballhandlers couldn't seize the opportunities. Was one of these games we missed Paolo the most.
Otherwise kudos to the Knicks for a well played game.
It was pretty much Brunson applying pressure, defense got in disarray and the Knicks move the ball until the shot is wide open.
...kind of his trademark, but was shocked again when I realized Josh Hart added another triple double. Was one of his sneakiest.

I think you use playoff outcomes for sweeping takes and until proven otherwise I'm considering Cup games as playoff games. Funner that way IMO, and I think meaningful themes can be learned.

Other than a few clowns...is anyone really "ripping" the team apart? The criticism of critics is the most ridiculous part of this group. They sucked last night. They feasted on bad teams for two weeks. They are good, not great. There is work to do...is that such a disturbing take?
They're lucky to have lost by so little...the beating was worse than the score.
or, just..."Yay, they dominated the first two minutes"

Lots of overreactions here. The reality of the current NBA is that sometimes you get lit up by the top offensive teams even when you play very good defense. And yes, sure, we could have played better D, but the Knicks are on a completely different level offensively than any team we have played recently.
On offense the main problem (apart from Paolo being out, obviously) is not coaching or that we take too many 3s, it's that even our supposed good shooters can't make open ones at a good clip. We have one rotation player who is shooting above the league average from 3 and that's Gary Harris who basically only shoot wide open ones at a small volume. Both our starting guards are shooting below 32% from 3. KCP has improved lately and hopefully the trend will continue, but he is still only at 31.6% for the season. Black does a lot of good things on the court, but his inability to hit 3s even when teams don't guard him at all has really hurt this season. Suggs takes the most 3s on the team but he only shoots 30% this season. And even a guy who was drafted mostly for his shooting like Jett is only shooting 32%. You just can't have a good offense in the modern NBA when you are that bad at shooting the 3 ball no matter what the coach does.

I don't care about our bad shooting/off nights. I think most of the critics get that, my problem with this team is they look rattled when it matters and you know early on they'll be unable to overcome it. The composure just isn't there and you're wishing for adjustments and there's none. It's part of being a frustrated fan in real time. I'm just hoping it's a youth/young team issue. I guess we'll find out as the expectations continue to grow.

I think it's good to have these weaknesses exposed earlier in the season. The team is making strides, Franz has consistently stepped up in big games on the road this season for example. Getting a win on the road in a playoff game is a critical next step, and we'll get another shot on Tuesday in Milwaukee.GameOver25 wrote:I don't care about our bad shooting/off nights. Of course, we have tired legs. Look at our schedule compared to the other teams
