Coming out flat on the last game of a road trip isn’t the end of the world but having it happen in both Salt Lake and Dallas should have lit a fire under their butts. Most of the games they’ve lost have been blow outs. With Boston, the Cavs, Magic, and the bucks surging and this team needs to keep pace. Our next 3 games are against the hornets, pistons, and raptors with things clicking it’s time to start banking a bunch of wins.
We are 8-2 in the last 10 games so I’d say we have also been getting the job done for the most part. Boston and Orlando are also 8-2 in the last 10, Cleveland 7-3, Milwaukee really coming on strong at 9-1. Not too bad though for a team with major new parts that is still figuring things out
Right, and this is nowhere near the apex of what this team will look like especially once Mitch and Precious return.
They will provide further defensive stability and lengthen the bench especially when the starting 5 build decent size leads. Sims has been ok but he's maxed. He provides even less than Mitch does offensively. Sims only really scores when set up perfectly and no defender is really in front of him. Mitch is a much greater force around the rim.

this is also only the first quarter of the 1st year of a multiple year window as well. We already are seeing what a month or so does to the chemistry...imagine a full season or next year...ect.
Yup, everyone is in their prime. Cam Payne is the only player that's 30+. Building up chemistry + getting Mitch and Prescious back the team can get even better.

Look at how the other team that lost KAT for Randle has devolved.
Pretty much every high usage player on our offense is a high level efficiency scorer now. Add in almost every one of them is not really a ball stopper but willing passers too. This combination has lead to historic scoring numbers per possession.
This is the kind of offense I've always wanted, not one centered around a player like Randle or Melo which leads to watching one man dribble the ball and is mind numbingly boring. This is now sometimes exhilarating with no one person being a primary option. This is hoops.

I think the Deuce and Cam combo needs a nickname. They've been overwhelming opposing benches since before Deuce sat a few games. They're kinda the whole bench, but that also means it's just two PG's outperforming other teams' entire second units...Sims at least helps defensively.

Yeah, the fatigue could have explained some of their slowdown at the end of the road trip. It was their piss poor fourth quarter defense that had me worrying a bit. But I think Mikal and OG in particular have stepped on the gas even more defensively (McBride too, he was full court pressing with a 20 point lead because Dejounte Murray had made a few shots).
You can sorta see everyone getting better at anticipating each others' defensive habits too. A bunch of steals last night came from help defenders knowing where the first man would force the ball-handler to go with the rock (be it dribbling or passing).

Thibs gets a lot of grief, occasionally even from...ahem...even me, but let's note since the Knicks got Hart, the Knicks almost never not run a 3 guard offense and fairly often they run a 4 guard offense.
I guess Thibs can embrace the modern NBA.
Also, Bridges being a 2\3 and McBride and Payne being comfortable on and off the ball facilitates this too.

It’s mainly because we are playing towns at the 5 who is a historically great big man shooter instead of having to play Mitch or another rim protector who doesn’t look to score at all. People were concerned about defense but I’d say we look fine on that end as well! This is what modern basketball is supposed to look like with everybody capable of making a 3
Yet we can mix in the better rim protectors when necessary too when Mitch/Precious come back.
Precious can play 4 or 5 as well.
Mitch will be on the hornets as we will be trading him for Nick Richards and Cody Martin. Watch this space

As long as he continues to rest the starters during blowouts I'll allow it

Even Reggie Miller noted it. "Four guys out there with live dribbles and Towns. That's tough."

Pseudo shots fired at me?!
Nah imma still hate Thibs till we get a ring
He’s got something to prove going forward with this roster too. I appreciate what he’s done for having his hand in turning around the team but this is the best roster he’s ever had to work with, and that includes all of his stops in Chicago, Minnesota and now New York. He’s got to prove he can win the big one when it matters and when his team is this good. I’ll gladly eat crow if he proves me wrong. Until then I’m not gonna get too excited, we need to string together a lot of (if not all) of these wins in December.

Thibs has always embraced a modern nba. We’ve been shooting tons of 3s since he’s been herepeople forget when he was unemployed he was visiting a bunch of teams like the champions warriors to get a better feel for the modern nba and it paid off.
Thibs brilliance remains one step ahead of the people who wanted to start a rim protector!

Definitely. Just noting after Hart how often he goes 3 guard. But he even did that with IQ, RJ etc

Roster construction is about as ideal as it gets under the new more restrictive CBA.
-Almost every high usage player is under 30 yet has mutliple years of NBA seasoning/acclimation. In other words almost all have multiple years of prime left.
-Almost every high usage player is a high efficiency scorer and non ball stopper type player.
-Hopefully with Mitch returning soon we have elite defenders at every single position 1 to 5.
-Most of the core players have a few years left on their contract.
- A few young promising influx of rookies at key positions who will grow up in our system and help mitigate the churn of some role players potentially leaving when contracts are up.

Imo we are playing 4 guards. Mikal Hart and OG are guard wing hybrids but they could all play the 2
