Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
Hitting on Mogbo really sent this trade into the stratosphere. If he can hit 3s consistently and at volume, then he's the OG replacement. But now with passing smarts and the potential for better rebounding. It's like getting RJ and IQ for free.

It’s the other way around.
RJ and IQ were the main dishes. Mogbo is the bonus, if he pans out you’re right, it really sends this straight into the stratosphere.

Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
It was a good deal when it first happened now I would classify it as great considering its Mogbo IQ and RJ for OG. I feel like RJ is on the cusp of being a really great player once he can be consistent from home to away. I think he could even sneak in as an all star reserve.

Not sure why this is always your go to comment whenever anyone criticizes a Raptors player lol. Pretty sure everyone on this site watches ball almost every single night, like I do.
Not once did I say he is not an adequate bench player. I just feel the same output could be had by someone younger and cheaper. I could want him gone but also feel there are 100 things wrong with this team before getting to him.
It’s not easy to just replace a guy who can give you 10/5 off the bench in 18mpg. You can’t just get those guys younger and cheaper. If you could 30 teams would have them.
You said you can’t wait for Boucher to be gone. It’s just illogical to want a positive player (in his role) to be gone in the search for what? We’ve had no depth for years and now we yearn to get rid of them
There has to be a player or players the fanbase wants gone. It is the nature of who we are.
The issue is we have our first this year plus two firsts next year not to mention the Portland second. Plus our seconds. Where are these players going to find roster spots? I think there will be increased speculation about who is gone to make room for new players. Even if we land a great player will all those picks we still have to match salary.

Thats 100% fair.
We can assume from our current roster Fernando is 100% gone, but Battle is gonna take his spot to make it 15. We have 2 incoming picks. The 2nd could in theory be two-way'd, but we need room for our 1st. Temple is likely done after this year I would assume which is where he could go.
But you also need playing time, so that opens up Boucher/Olynyk/Brown as guys who you almost "need" to get rid of. But that is due to a roster crunch and a good problem, and is less about Boucher as a player.

Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
Knicks got the best player.
btw, I have been a HUGE OG booster for years. I bought my son his jersey.
As soon as OG was traded, that signaled the tank.
As of now, excellent trade for both teams. The best deals help both sides.
Only question for the Knicks is OG's durability long-term.
Don't see any down-side for the Raptors at the moment.

RJ is way too up and down, but it's not like we got a bad player back, he is pretty much as advertised. Not a bad trade by any stretch of the imagination, and overall a good trade for both parties, but calling RJ a superstar in the making is pure insanity lolScase wrote:B+ RJ is salary filler and the pick is meh. I'm stoked for IQ though. Also cant complain we shipped out dead weight with OG.
"Salary filler", meh pick, Achiuwa called dead weight, IQ "isn't impressive". Yeah, other than getting pretty much every part of it wrong, and still not getting it right, you should really pat yourself on the back.
I think he legitimately forgets what he posts. Only thing that remains consistent is he has to be critical of the FO.
RJ has had lots of success here and despite his inconsistency this year has been much more than salary filler. IQ has had a tough time staying healthy but we know what he can do.
So because things have changed, I forgot what I posted? Brilliant argument.
I was stoked about IQ, then he didn't do much in the games he played, then we signed him to a bloated contract. RJ has played better than expected but I'm still unconvinced, and precious was dead weight while here. Yeah, you sure got me there couple of big brain arguments.
I'll make sure to have a new years resolution this year to just slurp up anything and think nothing but brain dead happy thoughts just for you two.

He's been great this year + Olympics + end of last year imo, maybe his FG% fluctuates, but not a ton of "down"
10 of his 19 games thus far have been mediocre to outright bad shooting nights, 50-50 is about as up and down as you can get. He's been better than I've expected but until I see some actual consistency I wont be particularly impressed. I have some hope that I previously didn't though, so that's good.

Props TZ!

Maybe just don't consistently run your mouth hourly and make stupid comments.

Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
Been good trade for both teams but this now hinges on health of IQ. Dude's been way too fragile and we just overpaid for him, too. We need both guys to hit their strides cause OG's still the best player in the trade at the end of the day.
