Just look at Divo and Randle in Minny and then look at them under Thibs. Look at our guys under Thibs. Not all coaches know how to get the best out of guys despite their talents.

Come on now HEZI you are giving Brunson breakout scoring credit to Thibs and not just simply opportunity moving off being the backup behind Luka? When Luka was hurt in the playoffs the year before he came to the Knicks brunson avg 22 pts in 18 games. He was ready to break out with or without Thibs.

Randle is actually having a career best EFF season in Minny. He has slightly less PPG but on like 4 fewer shot attempts because he doesn't have the entire freedom that Thibs gave the offense. A lot of teams have more offensive structure while Thibs just simply allows his players to play and make the right reads.

No one is saying he's a bad coach. But to give him the most credit for us having a #1 rated offense he is far down the list.

Players league and then I give Leon and Co credit for giving THibs these horses. We would be the #1 offense with or without Thibs.

We wouldn't be the #1 offense if we swapped KAT back for Randle and DD. Point being...its the players and not the coach.

He averaged 32 MPG his last year in Dallas so 2 less minutes than he averages this season

Yeah you can have the horses but without a jockey they have no direction and are just roaming around all over the place. You can discredit Thibs all you want but you are absolutely wrong that any coach could take Thibs place especially in New York. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. He got the team playing at a high level and did it his way. The league is full of talent, every coach has a bunch of talent. Cavs got it, Boston has it. Anybody can coach them too right?

I was early on the Brunson train, anytime Luka was out he'd put up numbers, and his isolation stats in the playoffs were screaming out that he could do a lot more. He was 20ppg 8apg 4rpg when Luka was out that last year in Dallas, I remember arguing with people that he would be putting up all-star type numbers if given the chance. The Knicks gave him that opportunity, but the talent was pretty apparent and he would be doing similar things almost anywhere else because he's a special talent. Nobody made him, he was starting to break out with the Mavs which is why he torched the Jazz.

He had the talent but he was never trending to be the player he is now. If he was then Dallas would have absolutely extended him when they had the chance. He also would have more suitors and more money on the table. Many teams didn’t want to take that risk although many already had committed to a PG and didn’t need him he was still a risk. Nobody projected him to reach this level. Thibs certainly played a role in giving him the freedom he needed and not restricting him. Thibs has also done a good job of covering for his weaknesses defensively considering what we have to work with. It’s working because the pairing is right.

He averaged 28/5/5 against the Jazz in the playoffs, he outplayed and abused Donovan Mitchell in that series.

This is OUR Jalen in his infancy.

There are stars right now that haven't had a playoff game that dominant. He was trending to being this guy, the Mavs just messed up several times, like we messed up not locking IHart into a third year. Sometimes teams make mistakes, and they made one, but his numbers without Luka, and that playoff series vs the Jazz let you know there was a lot more he could do.

Nobody in the NBA can say they made Jalen, other than Rick.

A playoff series is how we overpaid for Jerome James

Not sure what you mean by made him because players play and coaches coach. A coach can either help steer a player and team in the right direction but he can’t think or make decisions for them or showcase skills on their behalf. He can, however, help unlock their talent. Looking at Thibs resume he’s done a lot of that for a lot of players, Brunson is no exception.

Eh, if that was the case talking heads wouldn’t have been laughing at us saying we overpaid(when we signed him to a bargain bin deal) and giving the signing a D+. He was certainly emerging but he’s reached an even higher level here that I don’t think anybody expected. “In his infancy” and “trending” is fair though but we still had to make it happen. He didn’t even make his first ever all star team until his second year here

James averaging 12/7 isn't the same as a guy putting up 22/5/5 and helping his team get to the WCF. It's not even remotely the same. Nevermind the fact his numbers when Luka was out were borderline all-star.

Brunson was always going to be this with more touches, "unlocking" him was just giving him the ball more. This is no different than when the Hawks signed Joe Johnson, nobody unlocked anything, the talent was always there he just needed more touches and a bump up in the pecking order.

Guys either have the ability or they don't, his 41 point game against the Jazz looks like any other Brunson big scoring game with us.

So if IQ starts dropping 20ppg, we should give all the credit to Rajakovic? I don't care what the media said at large, they have never liked any move we've done, the KAT trade was panned as well. Brunson had the ability before he got here, helping the Mavs get to the WCF should say enough, especially since Luka was out for a portion of it. I expected it, you should remember well enough me chasing you around with quotes for months

If IQ becomes an all star or all nba yeah sure. Maybe not “all” the credit but surely a lot of credit. I think it’s fair to give both Rick and Tom a share of it for the different stages

It’s one thing to do it in a game or even in one playoff series. It’s another to get it out of someone consistently throughout an entire season and playoffs. Not only that but also do the things necessary to have the team winning. I don’t question Brunsons work ethic as a player and I don’t question Thibs work ethic as coach. That’s where the mutual respect and trust comes in. Rick also respects Tom a great deal so when you got that type of player coach relationship, it helps a player grow and succeed.

Offensive creativity was not my main driving taking home point about Thibs. Here’s a link to the original thread:

My original post was:

The KnicksFix wrote:Have at it. After tonight’s loss, it’s clear to see we cannot win a ring with this idiot at the helm.
- No in game adjustments
- Stubborn with rotations, playing 6 guys damn near 40 minutes with Kolek, Huk, Dadiet, Ryan rot on the bench in NOVEMBER NOT JUNE
- Took 25 games before realizing Divo was better than Grimes at the starting 2 last year
- Grinding players to dust game after game playing them too many minutes
- No offensive creativity

I’m going insane watching this guy coach us. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So who should be the next coach? I don’t know how to add a poll to my thread, but My vote is Jay Wright, though Hurley would be up there as well

Chillllll Brody I wasn’t coming at Thibs for his offense, my main problems was what we are seeing on the defensive end if we do not play with a rim protecting big.

In that order?

Damnnnn Frozen you gon’ do me like that?     You gotta have been taking better notes than that man. Lack of offensive creativity was on the bottom of my gripes. For me, I want to see more in game adjustments, and his stubbornness to change his defensive schemes, with minutes distribution is what drives me up the wall. Offensive creativity was not my main driving taking home point about Thibs. Here’s a link to the original thread:

That's fair. See you provide valid reasons even though I strongly disagree but you're off that list for now.
