What 2 former Raptors are you adding to this current team to win an ECF Game 7 in Boston?

Post#1 » by Potential » Fri Dec 6, 2024 5:25 pm

This is just a fun question I randomly thought of this morning. What 2 former Raptors in their Raptor prime (not Hakeem) are you adding to lead or contribute to win a do or die game 7 in TD Garden?

For me it's 2019 Kawhi and 2016 Lowry

are we talking raptors in their prime our former raptors in their current form?

Prime is Kawhi and Gasol. Imagine Darko's movement offence with Gasol dropping those dimes :o

current: Norm & OG

Norm comes off the bench as a Gunner and OG does OG things

I am assuming you mean current raptors: and sadly to say there is none that actually could help, not even OG who is the best ex-raptor playing right now.

historicly speaking: prime vince and prime bosh (kwahi is mister 2019, not more not less)

Guys, it clearly says "in their Raptor prime" right in the OP...

It's more interesting to say in their current condition. If it's Raptor prime it is Kawhi and Lowry.
If it is current skill and health then it is more debatable. I'd go with OG and Fred. Fred would need to agree to come off bench. I just want the best 3 + D players to surround.

Kawhi Leonard - 1st option
Vince Carter - 2nd option
Scottie Barnes - 3rd Option
RJ/Gradey Dick/Ochai 4th Option
Jakob Poetl - 5th Option

Good luck stopping that.

I mean Kawhi and Lowry seems like the most obvious answer

If you limit it to like 1 allstar only then I'd probably swap lowry with Gasol

Would rather take Lowry and Kawhi IMO.

Lowry/RJ/Kawhi/Barnes/Poeltl is just way more well rounded. Prime Lowry was 22/5/7 on 62.3TS% and was all-defence caliber.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Scottie can run PG, along with Quickley. I think that makes Lowry less valuable here.

People are forgetting - Vince’s raptor peak was at a different tier compared to raptor Gasol/lowry.

It’s clearly Kawhi + Vince

Quickley / Vince / Kawhi / Scottie / Poeltl (starters)
Gradey / RJ / Brown / Olynyk (bench)
Ochai / Boucher (situational players)

I’m most interested in a Kawhi-Scottie defensive pairing, because Scottie is ideal as a roaming defender, and Kawhi as a man defender.

Ya it's hard not to take Vince and Kawhi.

Kawhi and T-Mac
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

IQ/Barnes could run PG, but Lowry is immensely better at it. IQ we have about 30 game sample of him being a true PG, and Scottie is still not very good at that (good passer and vision? Yes. But he struggles running a team due to his inexperience).

Lowry/IQ
Agbaji/Dick
Kawhi/RJ
Barnes/Mogbo
Poeltl/Olynyk

IMO is just a more more well rounded team than

IQ/Davion
VC/Agbaji
Kawhi/RJ
Barnes/Mogbo
Poeltl/Olynyk

The Lowry team has no holes defensively in the starting lineup (teams will attack IQ), and Davion is easily worse as 9th/10th man than Dick is (as you would not have enough mins for VC/Agbaji/Kawhi/RJ/Dick at the 2/3).

Prime Lowry was an incredible floor general, top notch defender, one of the leagues top 3 point shooters, etc. Is he better than VC in a vacuum? Absolutely not. But as a #2/#3 he is certainly a better fit (and better usage of the rest of our roster)
