Well, as disappointing as Ayton was, we certainly haven't been a better team since he's been gone. Not saying it's related at all but kind of weird to discuss it that much.
But I guess we gotta try to be happy about something.

KD has won Championships, Gold Medals, MVP's, ALL NBA awards and when hes done will probably be one of the top 5 greatest players to ever pick up a basketball. Ayton was a part of one of the biggest finals collapses in NBA history. Cool story.KdoubleDees23 wrote:bwgood77 wrote:sunsbum wrote:

Ayton took us the the NBA Finals - and was a big part of that team.
What has KD done? Nurkic done? You guys saying this dude sucks, but he was part of one of the best Suns teams we have had, and had us closest to our first NBA final then any of the Suns teams! I will always respect that from him

Cool story. Did he do that for the Suns?
Ayton is absolute garbage, you can write a book, docu series, whatever you want. Nothing will change that fact. The dude has regressed on a worse team, and some how still has apologists like you at his side. Funny to watch someone try do dismantle what KD has done in the NBA while white knighting for ayton of all people.bwgood77 wrote:KdoubleDees23 wrote:sunsbum wrote: KD has won Championships, Gold Medals, MVP's, ALL NBA awards and when hes done will probably be one of the top 5 greatest players to ever pick up a basketball. He rode the coattails with the championship Warriors who had also set the record for most wins ever (kind of like our pre-KD Suns team did for a Suns record) after that historic choke job blowing a 3-1 lead OKC had over GS in the playoffs. He did win one MVP, like Iverson did. Though he was good in the olympics on an NBA all star team vs mostly non NBA competition.
KD is awesome. But yeah, he hasn't led the Suns anywhere. He puts up good #s as always though. He certainly won't be a top 5 player of all time. I think you have to be a clear cut leader of a championship team to get in the top 10 or so. He is a great regular season player though and had some great playoff games.
Obviously he's miles ahead of Ayton, but after our ridiculous overpay in a trade for the aging injury prone Durant, our team has been a massive disappointment. We went all in for a chip with by far the highest payroll, only to get swept in the first round. Hopefully things turn out better this year.
As for Ayton, I do think he would have played better in a Bud offense, or even under Vogel, after seeing how Beal has bought into defense for him. He also would have had so much space operating on offense in a Bud offense. With Portland his stats are worse but they are a horrid 3 pt shooting team without spacing, so he has no space to operate. Bud would have him focusing on efficient offense and contesting shots...like he did with Lopez. but a far better rebounder and worse shot blocker, maybe with fewer 3s since Ayton had the master midrange game.
Ayton obviously has some big issues, but a lot of that really surfaced after he became a scapegoat for Book, Monty, fans, etc, and his confidence started to erode.
At that point, we were best off trading him, but perhaps it never should have gotten to that point, and if we were going to trade him, we should have done so sooner when we could have gotten a better return. Or waited for a better one to emerge. We may not have gotten a seemingly better trade then, but Nurkic obviously isn't the answer and Grayson has regressed. And where it the complaining bout Nurkic not dunking, especially when he is FAR worse finishing inside? He has far worse games than Ayt0n had. When he has a good game it's such a nice thing, where Ayton had a lot of him and the focus was always on those bad games every few games.
His impact on games eroded though in his last year, though the whole team was injured in his final year except him and Bridges, which obviously hurt that.
Ayton clearly has

Absolutely feeble. His effort level is dog **** too.
The kid just doesn’t want to play basketball
I hate him. He’s worse than Whiteside. At least Whiteside hunted blocks, this bum just stands there.
My favorite moment from the game (besides Shaedon’s skywalking), was when the Jazz scored and the ball fell right into Ayton’s hands— but instead of walking 5 feet to inbound the ball he just casually tosses it in the direction of his teammates who aren’t any closes to the end line. One of which was a visibly annoyed Deni Avdija. Would love to see that lowlight again.
As an Arizona grad who was there when he kicked ass, and was stoked when he went to the Blazers, gotta say I’m bummer how lousy it has been.

This is one of biggest reasons he gets so much hate. He compared himself to shaq and calls himself dominayton![]()
