I wonder what the biggest payout of the millenium so far would be?

I'm thinking Leicester City winning the premier division? That's gotta be the biggest upset in all pro sports the past 25 years no?

One and done sports like NFL are probably the most optimal longshot bets though. Especially compared to something like winning the premier division. A string of 4 lucky wins (nfl playoffs) is far more likely than an entire season of upsets (like Leciester City). I'm guessing the odds typically account for that though.

I also did a $10 parlay of Raptors and Steelers winning it all, the payout on that is $250K.

I don't care about the $20 i put down. But if it hits, yeah I'll care. lol

Thoughts?

Gambling is the one vice I've never had.....but that type of thinking makes alot of sense to me. Small bets on huge payouts.

Is there a cash out option?

How much do you put down? Everything you own? The thing about this statement is that it is recipe for going broke no matter how little you do wager if you forever take on this bet. It is never a good bet to take. The only thing that can save you is if you are lucky quickly and then stop wagering. That would be to leverage time. The question then becomes how long should you try to be lucky quickly.

Respectfully, of course.
There's longshot bets, then there's bets where you're just throwing money away. This is the latter. Basketball is one of the sports where championship teams are known even before the season starts. It's not like hockey, or even football, where a cinderella run is possible (football because of the 1 game playoff format, and hockey because there's just SO many players on each team, and so many lucky bounces that can happen, plus 1 hot goalie can win it all).

Basketball you need to have your well-rounded top 8 guys, and more importantly, you also have the requirement of 1-2 top 20ish superstar(s). Unless you have the 2 superstars, the 1 you do have needs to be a MVP candidate (Jokic, Giannis). We definitely don't have the latter, and we don't really have the former even though our depth is improving.

I went heavy on OKC preseason to win it all at about 9:1 odds. Those odds have been slashed in half now at about 4.5:1

I agree with pretty much everything you said. But then again, injuries exist, and I guess this is really the only way for the OP to win his bet. An unprecedented amount of injuries to good players on teams that just happen to be on Toronto's path to the championship.

It would be the most Cinderella NBA run of all time. I can't think of a preseason non-contender that went all the way.

Nah there's some guys that "predicted" some crazy parlays.
Horse betting gets a lot of them with that exact "bet a crazy bet for $1". One guy bet an 8-leg parlay for $1 and won over $1 million. The odds say he should've won almost $3 mil, but the bookie capped his bet winnings (legitimately, beforehand not after).

One guy predicted 4/4 of the major sports championships plus a UFC fight and won. 2,600:1 odds.

I'm not even sure that's even entirely true.
You'd have to do the math on the actual probabilities. It's not 30:1 because there's 30 teams. Obviously it's not tens of millions to 1, but it's certainly higher than the actual payout of 1000:1 odds. I'd guess it's atleast 10x higher than that, because of the number of things you'd need to absolutely go right.

But hey, it's something to talk about at the bar. lol.

$10 is nothing to me. It's immaterial. It's like playing the lottery. Does that make sense?

I like this team's chemistry and the balance of their players in all 5 spots. I think Masai will make a move or two before the trade deadline and beef us up even more for the playoffs.

Don't sleep on this team. We could have easily beaten Boston in both games. Cavs are not a good matchup for us but anyone else in the East we have a shot against.
I get your logic...winning the lottery is around 1 and 14 million, so no one should be saying his bet is crazy. It's $10. Will he win it probably not, but the raps may get into the playoffs and there could be an early pay option

I was referring to a singular event.

But oh look....espn is publishing an incredible story of the everyman who won millions of dollars on a combined bet. I'm sure that has NOTHING to do with their mandate to promote a given gambling platform.

I worked for TSN for 20 years. Espn owns a significant share of TSN. That's why the branding is the same. Du-nah-nuh! Du-na-nah!

We used to have 48 minutes of content and 12 minutes of commercials every hour. Now it's more like 30 minutes of content and 30 minutes of commercials if you take into account all the sports gambling advertisements built into the content.

The host of the show just breaks into commentary about the parlay bet they made earlier in the evening....and then the fanduel sponsored graphic shows you the host's personal gambling result.

They are literally trying to teach ppl how to make bets and which platforms to make those bets on. It's a disgrace.

Imagine John madden saying "well I got the bears on the under and the Bengals on the over while I have the colts' running back breaking 75 yards. I stand to make $5k and you can too if you download the "sell my kids college fund" app!

I hate the modern world.

Young ppl love rules. Sports fans love gambling. Old ppl love their unprecedented real estate gains. Noone has babies. The local cinema only shows comic book movies. Hip hop lost it's soul. There are cameras that stop me from trespassing in public pools in the middle of summer nights. Also....our young ppl love rules and noone has babies lol
