3RD Q: SPURS 86 KINGS 100

And our 3RD Q fortunes have turned.

Outscored 31-27.

That's three Qs in a row in which we've allowed 30+ points.

Make that SEVEN Qs in a row going back to last game in which we've allowed 30+ points.

Outphysicalled. Outeverythinged.

Great job, man.

NOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

This is what he does. DONT FALL FOR IT!

He plays ok for about 5 minutes then the next 40 minutes he is a useless chucker who cant defend anyone and is a turnover machine.

COME TO THE LIGHT GREY!

 I mean it may not be saying much but he's our best most consistent player tonight.

Let's at least give him his props tonight, then.

CP3 with some beautiful dishes.

13 assists so far.

Two shy of getting second of all time I believe.

Very solid CBass block.

Prevented a yam even if he fouled. Nice and hard.

Looks like we have Mamu, Sidy, Branham, CBass, and Blake out there to finish the game.

Tonight he is falling into the category of "someone has to get stats". People get fooled into thinking horrible players are good because they get inflated stats during a blowout or when your best players are out. This is Andre Drummond 2.0

4TH Q: SPURS 113 KINGS 140

ONE HUNDRED AND **** FORTY!!!

So that's eight consecutive Qs against with at least 30 points in each, a final insult with the last one being 40 points.

Sure we were without Wemby and Dev but this is also what it looks like when we don't hit 3s at a super high rate.

We allowed over 50% shooting overall and managed just under 43% ourselves.

Got out rebounded, had more TOs, and once again had under 30 assists.

Bombing away from 3 (41 attempts) didn't save us as our efficiency dropped and with it our D effort.

True we faced a hulk C and a lightening fast PG but I'm not sure Blake getting garbage minutes and Mamu getting fewer than CBass helped. Not sure it would have made a difference in the outcome but the former always brings big energy especially on D and the latter shoots 3s at 45%.

We got to the FT line very well again but didn't reward ourselves enough (21-30).

Once the momentum shifted to finish the first Q we couldn't find the team that got a double digit lead the rest of the way.

It's tough without two top stars but it's also a chance for others to step up. They need minutes to do that. Collins didn't help himself but Mamu and Blake have made good cases for themselves. Just have to be ready when they're called.

Super vet CP3 had our lone double double with 11 and 13.

Julian led us in scoring with 30 on great 50% shooting.

Barnes and Castle struggled to score.

Didn't love the lineup and roster rotations.

Sochan was a steady 14-5-2 on 50% shooting and 3-3FTs. And a **** disturber on D.

Should we get a fuller complement of players to choose from I'd rather we go with Dev and Sochan in place of Castle and Barnes as starters.

At some point we have to see what our pencilled in starting five can do together and to do that they have to get reps together.

Castle has been way above expectations so far but his poor efficiency may need a breather versus starting opponents so let's see how he can cook versus benches.

Keldon is a workhorse. Didn't have the efficient touch tonight but he's an energy bringer. I hope we never take him for granted. Sochan either. He needs to start.

Rest up. Back to basics. Fundamentals. Effort. Resilience. Heart.

Sending a bat and spurs signal to Pop!

Defense looks terrible. Barnes and CP3 really need to tell our young guys to play some D. CP3 was a steals expert back in the day...

Sabonis, Monk, Fox, Derozan all had 20+. Bench played significant minutes... well someone get some stops on the Kings assault! A Sabonis type offense... looks dangerous if we're this careless.

Bad habits and Youth, obviously count against us.

Bring Wemby and Vassell back. No Wemby, no defense.

Sochan should start? Coming off the bench, still. Dropped some games, some confusion with Wemby out... season churns on... almost 25 games in.

I think it is time to move Castle back to the bench as our scoring is suffering and our defense is slacking.

Put Vassell back in with Wemby, Sochan, Paul and Barnes and try to keep that going for 5-10 matches.

Champagnie, Keldon, Castle, Bassey and Tre makes for a feisty 2nd unit but with shooting limitations which is why I moved Champagnie to the bench.

I am not down on Castle but this is what happens to every rookie, they shoot inefficiently and they get tired until they can pace themselves better. The last 5 games Castle is shooting 37% from the field and less than 30% from 3. He can't be taking double digit shots on those percentages.

I like this.
We HAVE to get Champaigne out of the starting lineup and limit his minutes to 20-25. I agree with moving Castle to the bench also when Vassell is healthy but Vassell is surely going to miss more games. He does every season. And Castle is currently our best option to replace his minutes, not Champaigne.

Yes, I said it Grey! :D
