Only 61 pts on 50 shots from Dame and Giannis. I'd say that's a good defensive game. Brown and Horford as primaries. Wish we didn't give up so many rebounds to Portis but we did as good a job against their stars as any.

48.4% defensive eFG%, 51.7 opponent TS%. 112.7 defensive rating. Those are good numbers.

And Boston didn’t have KP.

Wasn’t looking good for a while, but Boston started playing well down the stretch which was just enough to win

I still wouldn’t wanna see them in the playoffs. It’s alway a grind against that team. Also i am surprised we couldn’t do a better job on lillard. Let gia do this thing but stop lillard.

Close one. Tatum played like League MVP AGAIN. Holiday was in the right place so often, and moving and setting screens to help the offense function. Jaylen was Jaylen, and Hauser shined. Timely contributions from Al Horford.
Pritch left his shot in the locker room. Oh well, can't have everything. Nice win minus Zinger.

How did Bobby Portis get 18 Rebounds in 21 minutes???

An Alternative Perspective:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed Field Goals - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+34.5 Jayson Tatum 37 minutes

+20.5 Jrue Holiday 34 minutes

+16.5 Jaylen Brown 34 minutes
+16 Sam Hauser 24 minutes

+11 Al Horford 36 minutes
+7.5 Derrick White 37 minutes
+4 Neemias Queta 12 minutes

+0.5 Payton Pritchard 24 minutes

Team Total = 110.5

Nice to have it finally count

Triple double by lebroni in a losing effort. How is the old man pulling this out. The guy should be playing like a classic car with lots of mileage.

Odd Stat Alert: (Dunno if Lipe's already picked this up) The Celtics had 0 second chance points in the game despite 7 offensive boards. That's never happened in the Stevens era. Last time this happened with the Cs is January 24, 2013.

Jrue is my favorite Celtic,

but I also have Luv for JT, JB (despite all the times he dribbles the ball off his foot, his D and aggressiveness make up for some of the ball hogging), Al, Derrick, Pritch and Hauser.

Zinger is starting to show a kinder and gentler side. The Celtic culture and team spirit may be rubbing off.

via Steve Bulpett:
Doc Rivers lauds the Celtic passing deep into possessions to find good shots: "That wasn't them two years ago, and it is them now. And that's why they're the champs."

Full credit goes to Marcus Smart for telling the Jays to pass the ball more back in November 2021.

via Bobby Manning:
Joe Mazzulla called Brown's tech tremendous and said Giannis' elbow on Brown ignited him. Mazzulla has talked about manipulating the environment this year and that involves opponents, refs, crowd, etc., he said.

Joe loves agents of chaos as he is one himself.

Giannis taking a three with under two minutes is a low IQ play. I would've traded him on the spot.

They are the gift that keep on giving.

I actually like Trae Young now, he has evolved and matured as a player.

BTW everything Jrue is in a form slump, i wish we could play the Bucks, he has a personally dissed/unappreciated grudge against him and it works a treat !

Tonight was one of my favourite wins of the seasons, pure Celtic grit, a win Red, Bill and Larry would have been proud of.

We were heavily tested by a legit conference rival and threat and responded magnificently when it mattered most.

Is his contract up this season? Do you think he could play off the bench here? Can he accept the bare minimum role? Could you imagine facing Jrue and white then Bulldog PP, underrated never faded Hauser, and Smart off the bench?

DW, JH, JB, JT, KP, Al, Hauser, PP (full court) and Smart 48 minutes of defense is more than the cheat code we already have, it’s like we built the game!

He's already coming off the bench for MEM IINM, but Smart might be too prideful and competitive to not finish games I dunno. Joe also might prefer him over other options because of his grit and defense (which has honestly declined).

Anything's possible. JT did say they're gonna hook up again one day.

One huge benefit of trading Smart (besides getting KP and 2 1sts) is it unlocked Full Bald Derrick, which might not have happened with him here. PP was unleashed too due to bigger role as ballhandler.

More than a 3-pt shooting team?

via Wayne Spooney:
The Celtics are now 6-0 when they shoot worse than 33% from 3.

Yeah, he comes off the bench but that’s mainly because his injuries gave the next man up a chance and he still seems like he wants to be a big part of the action when he gets out there. I want to know if he can come back here and be fine with not being able to dominate the momentum of hause and PP. Do you think he will be fine with DNP now and then?

I want it so bad, but then I think his aura might take over the bench and sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s not.

I really really want him back though… ugh it’s a tough call if he’d fit and idk if we can take that chance.

They haven’t been struggling for a while though, they had been winning until the hawks(?) got to them. They struggled then found their way.

Jaygod Tat-jesus-um was insanely good his floor game was incredible 1 TO was surprised to see only 5 assists felt like he was fizzing the ball around beautifully.

Just an all around great game aside from white and Pritchards shooting.

Really hope we see the bucks in the playoffs.
