I think Precious minutes will go up gradually but if he only takes Sims ' minutes then it doesn't shave any off the starters

Jericho plays less than 15 minutes a game. If we can get Precious to 25, we can shave a few extra from the starters. We really need Shamet back.

Shamet's shot fell off some last year and he is coming off a serious injury. would be nice to get someone a lil more reliable in here.

sidenote: mitch has 1 more year left on his deal with his pay decreasing. seams like now would be a good time to use his contract to bring in a solid bench piece to keep his money on the books. teams over the first apron can't trade a player for a player making more money, eh? Sims is serviceable and precious is back - get thibs a vet wing so he doesn't kill our starters pls.

Shamet won't hurt but to me he's kind of redundant with Payne and Deuce. There's enough guards. I wish we could get a 6'7-6'9 wing who could spell off OG and Mikal more. A 3, because Precious is a 4-5. I don't know who it would be though.

I liked that Thibs played Precious with Kat a little on Thursday. Precious can be a 4 with Kat which lets OG have more rest. And also play small 5 in place of Kat, which we saw a glimpse of how good the defense can be with Achiuwa, OG and Mikal switching on the perimeter.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

yeah idk who that player is - maybe like bruce brown. no clue what he makes or he might want more mins that he could get here. we just need a vet who thibs trust so we can keep our wings healthy going into the playoffs.

Depth is better thought of as what does each guy bring and what do you need the most.

Right now what we have the least depth in by far is elite rim protection. And the one guy healthy that approaches that is so bad at everything else that its like playing 4 on 5 when he is on the court (Sims).

The other one that gives us that is Mitch and even if/when he makes it back his injury proneness is a huge risk for how long he will stay on the court.

I get the clamor for the additional wing. However the elite rim protector that can play at least a touch of offense (or better) is the much bigger need.

Brown is only 6'4 and hasn't played a game yet this season after knee surgery in summer. Supposed to be on the trade market by Toronto though. Would be great to get him with Poeltl but I can't think how to do it, who to give up besides Mitch.

We wouldn't get both of them ...too much salary. And the more likely of the two is Poetl. Poetl in this system under Thibs might be even better than IHart was. He would play 24 minutes a night at 5 with KAT the other 24 at 5 and then KAT would also have 8 minutes at the 4 with Poetl together.

The more likely route though might be Richards or Kessler. Richards becomes your back up 5 to KAT that has some offensive game and higher level rim protection ability.

Well, the Knicks have 5 centers, so maybe they can get something out of them

KAT
Precious
Mitch
Sims
Hukpootie

Here is why I think its still the 5 as #1 priority.

KAT (everything BUT a rim protector)
Precious (can provide SOME rim protection but better as a switching defender)
Mitch (elite here BUT super super unreliable healthwize)
Sims (4 on 5 on offense and low BBIQ)
Hukpootie (may develop into one but still super raw)

We really don't have one ideal option of the 5 to be that guy this year....

KAT right now in Thibs system has basically proven he can do practically EVERYTHING. The one caveat was rim protection. Having Mitch and even Precious to a lesser extent will take a bit of that burden off him or even better trading for a less injury prone option like Kessler/Richards/Poetl.

15 minutes KAT off the court Mitch or Trade target/Precious will play the 5
8-10 minutes KAT ON the court Mitch or Trade target/Precious will play the 5 with KAT at 4
Other 25ish minutes KAT ON the court Mitch or Trade target/ Precious will be out with KAT at 5

He will play more or less at 5vs 4 on a matchup basis coupled with the ebb and flow of each game. Some nights he'll play more at 4 and some nights more at 5.

well damn - I didn't know he has been injured and out all year. he just seams like a defensive wing who thibs would trust. I don't know who we can get but I hope we can get someone in here before the damage is done.
