One of Brunson or Towns needs to play and Towns being in late last game was absolute stupidity.

Precious is coming back obviously looms even larger now too.
New reality of Son ship!

I think Precious minutes will go up gradually but if he only takes Sims ' minutes then it doesn't shave any off the starters

I'd like to see Precious get a good 24 mins per

But not 25!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is just rest for KAT and probably JB as well.

Every team in the league does it and they have to come up with some mysterious injury in order to get away with it. Watch for both of them on the bench tonight and see how they look/react.

Tonight should be an easy win.

Knicks boast highest-scoring starting lineup in NBA history

By Matthew Legros
·December 7, 2024

The New York Knicks’ starting lineup has been scary good this season. Though they’ve had a learning curve to adjust to from a continuity standpoint, New York’s first five are getting buckets.

All-Stars Karl-Anthony-Anthony Towns (25.2 points per game) and Jalen Brunson (25.1 PPG) lead their charge as one of the most potent duos in the NBA. Right behind them, OG Anunoby (17.7 PPG) has emerged as one of the premier third options in the league with Mikal Bridges (16.5 PPG) and Josh Hart (13.9 PPG) rounding out their scoring onslaught.

Knicks starters are scoring at a historically great rate[/b]

According to NBA reporter Tommy Beer, the Knicks’ 97.5 PPG on the 2024-25 campaign is the highest-scoring average by a starting five in league history. Beer contextualized the feat in a post published on X on Friday morning:

“No starting unit has ever averaged more than 92 points per game. In fact, only two teams have ever finished a season averaging more than 91 PPG:
The world champion Boston Celtics starting 5 last season (at 91.3) and the iconic “Seven Seconds or Less” Suns team in 2004-05 (at 91.8), which won 62 games under Mike D’Antoni and MVP Steve Nash,” Beer noted.

“The Knicks’ five-man starting unit is currently averaging… wait for it… 97.5 points per game.”

[b]
Knicks have the edge over all-time great starting offenses

This is special on many fronts. Not only were the Celtics elite last season, headlined by scorers Jayson Tatum, reigning NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jrue Holiday, but the Suns reintroduced up-tempo offense to the league in one of the slowest eras of all time.

Not only so, but the Golden State Warriors from 2016-17 until 2018-19 had starting lineups that featured two 25-plus PPG scorers in Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, a 20-plus PPG scorer in Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, who was good for double figures many a times. A short list of other superteams and well-oiled machines took the NBA by storm with their high-octane offense, and yet, these Knicks outpace them all by a wide margin.

It will be on them to continue putting up points at this rate. If the Knicks’ defense meets their offense where it’s at as the campaign progresses, New York could be staring down the Larry O’Brien trophy come June with a historic offense to attach to that hopeful accomplishment.

Any team led by Jalen Brunson is going to get better and elevate to Championship calibur levels.

They should rest one at a time. We lose this game with both of them out

after decades of horrible pg play we finally have a legendary one who can, and more importantly is willing to morph his game into whatever the team needs. we are blessed.

Knicks Bulletin: ‘That’s kind of how I get my shots off. Thank God’.

Before a homestand finale New York discussed the supremely talented OG and Cam Payne.

Up Next - OG Anunoby with 25 Points vs. Charlotte Hornets

Antonio Losada is a computer scientist with an MS in Artificial Intelligence who decided to throw away a career in Academia to blog about the Knicks at P&T and successfully survived the sophomore slump solidifying himself as a bonafide starter.
The New York Knicks had Friday off and so did I because it was a bank holiday where I live—so there’s that.

New York will finish a four-game homestead tonight, facing a kind-mid Detroit Pistons team the Orange & Blue squad already beat by 30 freaking points on Nov. 1 in what came to be known as the Motown Beatdown.

Here’s the latest we’ve fetched from current and former Knickerbockers, as well as a cameo from Woj the Bomb ahead of Saturday’s contest.

Cameron Payne
On his unique shooting form:

“You wanna talk about my shot? At the end of the day, it goes in. So that’s the biggest thing.

“I work on, I guess, an ugly shot. That’s cool. If it keeps going in, I’ll take an ugly shot 10 times out of 10 over a good-looking shot that doesn’t go in. So it’s all good.

“People are gonna have something to say. That’s the nature of it in the NBA.”

On the advantages of being a left-handed shooter:

“I mean, there’s a lot of right-handers whose shots look crazy. But there’s nothing to say because everybody’s right-handed.

“Just being left-handed in general, it’s different. A lot of people come in, and everything is ‘right hand, right hand, right hand.’ So with me, I’m kind of unique being left-handed.

“A lot of people don’t guard that every night, so that’s kind of how I get my shots off—just being left-handed. Thank God.”

On how his shooting technique affects defenders:

“Honestly, with how I shoot, [the defender] be on my left side, but I shoot on my right. So I kind of shoot my regular shot. I don’t see the contest until after it’s gone. So I kind of see straight rim. It’s cool.”

OG Anunoby
On appreciating other players’ growth as he defends them year-to-year:

“All great players. It’s fun to watch them before, watching their film.

“I enjoy watching every player. It’s fun to see them grow and get better each year, and then whoever the player is, see how good they are, and then also it’s fun to try to stop them, make it as difficult as possible.”

On how he gets ready for defensive matchups:

“I find out the matchup, watch the film, and then also (use) my memory from playing them before—just from watching games, seeing what they like to do.

“Just trying to make them uncomfortable.”

On being focus on winning for the team more than his own accolades:

“I definitely have individual goals, but I know that all comes from winning. So winning is the main goal.”

Tom Thibodeau
On Cam Payne’s shooting chops:

“He shoots a lot, and he’s always had that scoring component, so he’s put a lot of time in it. And everybody’s different, so I think he’s an expert of his shot.

“He plays fast, so he mixes in getting easy baskets, and I think he gets into rhythm that way.”

On Anunoby’s defensive impact:

“The plays that he was making—he’s the only one that can make them. He’s everywhere. He’s flying around.

“He’s into the bodies, and when he’s like that, he just covers so much ground. His timing, you can’t throw the ball over him. He challenges shots great. He’s a guy with great, great instincts. He played a terrific game.”

On Payne’s injury and the second unit’s potential when everybody gets healthy:

“We’ll see where [Payne] is [Friday]. Deuce [McBride] has been terrific, but I like having the bench with Deuce and Cam together. That gives us a big spark and huge energy.

“I think what Precious will add to that [second-unit] group will be even more speed and athleticism.”

Josh Hart
On Cam Payne’s shooting motion:

“He’s been shooting that way since I’ve seen him play. That’s his shot. If it goes in, it goes in.

“There’s no pictures on a box score or anything like that, so that’s his shot and he shoots it with confidence. He’s shooting a career-high, so don’t change anything.”

Mikal Bridges
On Anunoby’s defensive prowess:

“He’s just a freak of nature, getting those blocks. I wish my hands were that big. He’s been OG since he’s been in the league, I’ve been watching him. Really dope.”

Karl-Anthony Towns
On Anunoby’s shot-blocking prowess:

“That’s not only the talent he possesses defensively, but that’s the belief of everyone in this locker room including the coaching staff.

“We know what OG can do. We believe it. The coaches believe it. And the best part about it, OG believes in his defensive talent as well.”

On supporting Anunoby in dealing with tough matchups:

“We know whenever they have a great player, we feel really good about our chances having OG Anunoby, and we’ll support him in every possible way because every night for him is a tough matchup, and we just want to do our job to help him and make him the best possible player he can possibly be.”

On Anunoby’s talent and his lack of awards:

“I think we all know in this locker room the talent OG possesses. I think he’s one of the best two-way players in the NBA. Defensively, offensively... he affects the game.

“I’m just glad that he’s getting this moment here in the Mecca in New York to show the world the talent that we all see.”

On Anunoby’s future accolades:

“He has All-Defensive Teams in his future. So we’ll make it up.”
