Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Saying "falling short" I don't think is Bama football fan talk where anything less than a championship is panic
Just pointing out the expectations going into the tournament were higher in past seasons than this season, even with a #2 seed.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Some people - even people who post here - will claim allegiance to both Wisconsin and Marquette.
These "people" are, in a word, "bad."
Go Badgers.

Imagine going to Marquette and having to go to class on that campus.

Tale of two halves. The turnovers killed us in the second. Rough game for Tonje. Nice to see Max look alive; unfortunately so was Kam.
Need may be a strong word, but...really, really would like to beat Illinois.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Not sure if to post this in the Wisconsin or Marquette thread but I thought there were some interesting takeaways from today's game
That was a quality Win for Marquette, it should be a good resume booster for them come March.
Honestly this was a really interesting game to watch to learn about each team. Both teams want to be physical but in different ways. Marquette wants to pressure you defensively and get into transition, meanwhile Wisconsin wants to get to the rim and then either shoot open 3s or get to the line from there. Because they both want to be physical in different ways they each benefit from different styles of officiating which was on full display today. In the 1st half the officials called fouls on a lot of contact which let Wisconsin get to the line, which is a place they excel at, and Marquette wasn't able to be as physical as they wanted to be defensively. In the 2nd half that flipped in that the officials let a lot more contact go uncalled, this allowed Marquette to play defense more physically and Wisconsin's attempts at getting to the rim often led to turnovers or attempting to make shots through contact. I'm not saying either half was officiated correctly or incorrectly, different crews will call things differently. But if you want a general baseline for how a game will go for Wisconsin or Marquette going forward just look towards how the game is being officiated and how much contact the refs are allowing.
Both of these teams are very good and nothing I saw persuaded me otherwise

Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Both will be in the tourney obviously. I don't think either conference is all that good but the Big East appears to be particularly weak. But it's still pretty early to judge. The Badgers storm the court win came against a team that is now 3-4.

Refs got that call at halftime. Glaringly obvious.
That and Gard loves to play McGee. That guy cant guard a soul. Cant shoot. Cant dribble. Cant pass. Even waves a towel like ****.

Sad that Gard will probably run off guys with talent once again. Essegian on this team would be fantastic. He was criminally used by Gard. Gard would rather have these scrubs from D-III ball like McGee / Janicki / Gilmore than actual basketball players. I dont care if they win 25 this year. Gard needs to go, he can't develop talent or keep talent in the program. Im done with him.

Essegian, who literally scored 0 today, is not the guy to freak out about.

Scored 30 the other night. Guy can shoot, is competant on the court.
We have 3-4 rotational guys that are not NCAA athletes or basketball players.

Good game for about 30 min! KAM is a helluv a player! Bottom line for Bucky , Crowl needs to play better and I'm not sure that he can. I understand that Gilmore plays a decent defense but he is such a negative on offense . He should be the guy that you break glass and use in emergency situations! Give credit to Marquette , they stepped up and forced Bucky in to uncharacteristic ball security! Not a Marquette hater and will root for the other state team in tourney!

Can he shoot? He seemed to figure that part out against mostly bad competition to start the year at Nebraska, but outside of his first 2-3 months with the Badgers he was a below average shooter for 1.5 years. After the calendar turned to February 2023 in his freshman year until he left the Badgers last year, on a lot of 3 point attempts, I believe he was sub 30%.
He was certainly a guy that as a fan you could be somewhat worried about losing because he had an elite skill that was there, but he was a negative in so many other areas it was kinda meh. We'll see how the season plays out. So far he's torched lesser competition in a reserve role.

I think I agree with this. But I also watched the season 2 years ago play out similarly and the Badgers didn't make it. Arizona dropping to being a mediocre team is not helping matters.
I can't imagine this Marquette team missing. They are much better.

McGee has been excellent this year despite Saturday's performance.

This is your brain on cutlets.
Please do not operate any machinery more substantial than an electric toothbrush.
Going off on McGee is deeply weird, who's played his role as good as anybody could have envisioned as an off-the-bench change of pace guy, pesky on defense and a shotmaker from both deep and off the dribble (!). At least you didn't say something about his hair.
The Gard stuff continues to confound me, especially hot off the heels of the football season what with the adventures of V.E.S.T. man and 4th and Longo.
Greg Gard: flashpoint. Mystifying to area shtposter.

Not sure how I missed this gem.
Well done.
And by "well done" I mean really, really not well done.

It's a shame the two 7 footers have zero ability to jump. Crowl is so disappointing most of the time. He'll have a great game here soon and give us hope then he'll go back to missing bunnies and getting pushed around by guards.
only a fan, only an opinion
