Are you now saying you'd rather have Donovan than KAT? Because there's no way to get KAT if the picks go out to get Donovan.

We traded 5 firsts for Mikilikina and still got KAT plus the OG package before that and still got KAT but we couldn’t have traded 2 for Donovan and still got KAT?

No, because Ainge wasn't doing it for two picks, that's just your made up number to make the deal work. And the money doesn't work, Donovan is a $50 million per season man now. I'm glad to know you are okay with KAT getting injured due to too many minutes, and you also want Donovan over him, thanks for showing your true Louisville colors.

We are always among the slowest paced teams and even then we are routinely among the bottom of the league when it comes to teams shooting threes, the problem now is that the volume of threes league wide is increasing among all teams, and the variance of the shot means that if you're fine with giving up a lot of them you're going to have nights where teams go ballistic from three. His scheme treats every team essentially the same, we came out and were going under screens against Cade in the first half even though he was proving he could make them, we were sinking to protect the paint and leaving Beasley wide open because the paint is more important than perimeter. If the coach is telling you to do this you're going to do it, the players IQs don't matter if the coach has spent the summer, training camp and first 22 games drilling it into your head to help and protect the lane.

Just stop and think about this, we are 28th in pace in the league, yet 9th in opponent threes made. What he's doing isn't working, and as more teams take more and more threes it's going to get worse. This is exacerbated by the fact the guys are playing obscene amounts of minutes already.

Bro it doesn’t matter. Look at what Brunson does to teams who don’t protect the paint. The very same scheme you talk about that we don’t use is the same scheme that others use which has Brunson living in the paint and being able to do what he does. So just look at it from our offensive perspective what happens when you don’t do that, then you are getting dissected in the middle. And when they do send the help defense we get the open looks. You are getting dissected one way or another, just better hope to have a better offense to counter. That’s the modern NBA

Modern NBA defenses switch more than we do, the Celtics switch, they don't just drop against everyone, they scheme and play based on matchups. They put Jrue on guys and let Horford/Kristaps defend the worst shooter in the lineup, we don't do any of that, we have a basic offense and a very basic defense. The Celtics are 13th in the NBA when it comes to opponent threes made, we are 22nd. We don't do any of that, we guard your center with our center and the extent of that is hedging and recovering. How you protect the paint matters, we overhelp, it's why Hart keeps getting caught in no man's land, because he's sinking to stunt and recovery when another coach would tell him to stay with the shooter. Early in that first half we were still playing drop even though Cade was making mid-range pullups at the time, you meet a ball handler like that at the level or just fat out switch and live with it.

Again, we keep giving up threes at a high rate with Tom as our coach, that problem is going to get worse and worse as teams continue to take more and more of the threes.

They got 2 All NBA defenders in the backcourt, an excellent wing defender in Brown and they have elite rim protection and they still are an average defensive team. Still can’t stop teams from dropping 120. What’s that tell you? That it doesn’t matter. They got elite guard defense. We got Brunson. They got Horford and KP protecting the paint we got KAT. And they are still 13th in the league in 3 pointers given up. Sorry but Thibs is not turning Brunson into an elite defender nor is he turning KAT into an elite defender. Bridges doesn’t have the rep of a bad defender but he certainly should because he’s basura. So we got 3 bad defenders, Boston has 3 or even 4 elite defenders and they are still middle of the pack defensively.

You aren’t fixing the defense with scheme, if you want it to improve the individuals have to improve themselves or you might need actual better defenders. Our guards or I should say Brunson, can’t guard a guard so he has to hide somewhere on a lesser scoring threat and him being so small he can’t contest even when he tries but he’s also very slow in his reactions and recovery so that just complicates things even more. Not having rim protector doesn’t help because now we can’t really depend on that help when we do give up the drive and we give up the drive frequently even in drop coverage but especially in iso. I don’t have high hopes for the defense but the offense can’t be cold and make careless turnovers and miss free throws. That’s where you are just shooting your self in the foot. Lack of ball handling and shot creation doesn’t help. Tonight they didn’t even need KAT to win. Even Cam Payne would have helped with more ball handling and ability to shift the defense around and launch off the dribble.

The nuggets didn’t enter the season with two of the best wing defenders in the game, and still can’t stop a damn nose bleed from 3. Thibs doesn’t adjust and we cant guard the perimeter 3. We go down by double digits consistently because teams know to target us from 3. That’s evident.

This is why that elite rim protecting center is critical folks. It will allow us to play either way (switching or drop coverage)

I tend to agree with your outlook on this, this is the 2024 NBA, teams are going to shoot and make 3s. We lost mostly because the offense was bad and we didn’t make our free throws and open looks. We could have won in theory without KAT but he spreads the floor and helps the offense and replacing him with the likes of a Sims shuts down our whole thing.

They got more picks and better players from the Cavs, we been over this before, we didn't get him because the Cavs offered more. Donovan is making $50 million per on his extension, we can barely afford the team we have now, nevermind having two $50 million per guys on the same team, and KAT's goes up to $60 million per by the end of it. I said we should trade Randle for KAT last year, sorry pal, but I was ahead of the game there.

I'm just surprised you want Donovan over KAT, not as surprised as I am about you being okay with his knees being grinded into a fine dust to protect your maniac coach.

Well neither did we. But if you need elite wing defense to stop Justin Champagne from going off then what kind of better coach are you?

The Celtics are 10th defensively, that was with Horford starting, they were 3rd last season. They are a defending champ, they aren't going to blow their load in the regular season, that's what it tells me, and even then, they're still top 10. We have been a top 5 defense one time in the 5 years Tom has been here, and the last 3 years we've been 10th, 19th, 17th. As the threes have been flying his defense has been breaking.

Scheme can help, stop playing in a drop if you don't have the big man to play in a drop  We play almost every team the same, it's why we came out in a drop against the Jazz, Hawks, Celtics etc, because we do the same thing against almost everyone, it's boilerplate coaching that doesn't adjust to who we're playing against. You're not about to sell me on the idea our perimeter defenders aren't good enough, sorry but OG and Hart on their own are better than most teams wings, and even with Mikal struggling he's better than the majority of players on defense. Trying to pass this blame off to them and not the coach is wild, first it was KAT that was the target but our defense has sucked while he's out, now it's the wings. How about all the minutes these wings play? They're all in the top 10, but that plays no part in their defense slipping in the 4th?

Tom is not going to lead us to a title, it's pretty obvious by his lack of adjustments. I don't know why people keep defending him.

And you see even how useless Achiuwa was. Now I know he’s just returning and is very rusty but when he was able to score in transition it was huge but when he was in the half court and just searching for the handoff the defender dropped off so much off him and didn’t even look at him as a threat which puts all our scoring responsibility on the other guys. With KAT that’s a whole different ball game. With Boston they have multiple bigs who can shoot so whether it’s KP, Horford or even Luke Kornet they can still play their same style. With us things change a lot when KAT is not on the floor.

I wanted Kristaps, and I was right about him. I wanted KAT after doing some soul searching and realizing I didn't want to watch Mitch play center anymore, that's when I came around on the idea of KAT, and I called the OG trade a few times.

This man has the decisive balls to make adjustments and to deal with modern divas, he can play both good cop and bad cop, his tough no nonsense, but not try hard approach, and championship experience earn instant respect, he makes an excellent HC imo

But for some reason people won't consider him

I wanted Kristaps, and I was right about him. I wanted KAT after doing some soul searching and realizing I didn't want to watch Mitch play center anymore, that's when I came around on the idea of KAT, and I called the OG trade a few times.

They are like 13th and couldn’t play any better defense against this same Pistons team than us despite their elite defenders. They can turn it up most likely but they have that luxury yet will still have to prove it this season. So far, they aren’t living up to it. You also can’t put the same expectations on us since our group is still new and their core has been together for years.

You still haven’t fixed the defense you just changed it. Putting lipstick on a pig. You don’t have a big that can drop but he also can’t switch and guard the perimeter. The same big that has struggled with foul trouble for years is going to be defending Cade Cunningham in isolation instead of Jalen Duren. Yeah real smart there, let’s get KAT in foul trouble and give up layups in the process.

Hart and Mikal aren’t elite or even good defenders. You can say Hart is solid but Mikal is terrible. They aren’t better than most teams wings, that’s just the homer in you talking.

Now name me one elite defender that we’ve had over the years before OG arrived? You expecting elite defense from a team that lacks elite defenders? What team has an elite defensive team with a small PG who can’t play defense? You want a switching defense but ignoring the fact that our PG has to be hidden on that end game in game out. Oh but you also don’t want a rim protector because well then that spoils the offense spacing and we can’t beat Boston that way. But you want an elite defensive team basically OG just covering for everybody
DENVER NUGGETS
Jamal Murray/Ty Jerome/Dante Exum
Zach Lavine/Ochai Agbaji/Corey Kispert
Aaron Gordon/Josh Okogie/Julian Strawther
Jakob Poeltl/Moussa Diabate/Karlo Matkovic
Ivica Zubac/Nick Richards/Oscar Tshiebwe

I think we had dropped our debut albums around the same time, my "Rim runners and the playoffs" album went diamond.

I came around on KAT sometime last year, but I've always been making anti-Mitch music.
