lakers jazz

lal trades: russell, vanderbilt, hood-schifino, 2027 #1 protection removed

utah trades: collins, mills

lakers get collins to add some needed length and defense, replacing vandy is out injured and may not be back for a while.

jazz get an better #1 for their rebuild...vando's money runs a couple years longer than collins but is much less in total money and yearly money.

Do not like this for the Lakers. I'd rather DLo and Vando than Collins.

I like Collins, but I'm not sure this moves the needle for the Lakers more than Russell/Vando.

I don't think Collins is worth reducing the protections on that pick. Maybe if the Lakers are moving Vincent and Wood instead of DLo it could be.

Collins
for
Vincent, Vanderbilt, Wood, 2027 1st protection removed

D'Lo + pick(s)
for
???

I know that I'm much more of a Collins fan than you are and I haven't felt any motivation to move him, but I just don't love either of these scenarios. What do you think the relative value is for removing the protections on that pick? A late FRP? A swap? An early SRP?

My guess is a late first or a swap. I think Collins might be worth expirings with hisbplay this year, so the value for LA is in swapping its bad money for injured and bad players for neutral money for a good player.
