Why would anyone in their right mind take on Beal's contract unless they were getting KD too?

No team interested in KD has remotely that kind of salary available to trade.

The Bulls have $98M in contracts they’d be willing to dump in Vucevic, Lavine, Ball and Williams but there’s no point and KD wouldn’t go to Chicago.

The Nets also have over $90M in expiring contracts but they’ve tried the KD experiment before.

That would the funniest situation-possibly in league history. No way KD does that. Playing along tho, I guess Simmons expiring along with picks and Clowney and CamJo for KD and Nurk would be a good path for PHX.

KD said he isn't getting a statue.

The only team that is even thinking of giving him a statue if he goes there is the Nets.

This kind of a deal could work but I am not sure what kind of draft capital the Nets would give up if both Cam Johnson and Clowney are going out.

Suns are 1-9 without Durant.

What part of this screams the issue is they need to trade Durant?

Cause teams that don’t play defense or rebound have no chance at winning a title regardless of their November record.

I trade KD to Houston even if the package isn’t earth shattering. I trade Booker this summer and put out hints so the fanbase isn’t blindsided. Beal is going to run out his deal in Phoenix putting up empty calories on a bad team as usual. Blowing it up without controlling your picks shouldn’t be out of the question when the alternative is leading the league in luxury tax penalties while not being a true contender.

I think KD going back to OKC isn't a terrible idea for them. He can provide elite scoring and make for nightmare for opposing defenses with SGA

I'm not really sure what KD's value is right now vis a vis his injury situation, but putting a true #1 scorer on a team with a defense like Houston's could boost them to title contention.

Yeah, this makes a ton of sense since Phoenix gets some of their picks back, one of Jabari Smith or Eason and a ton of cap relief. You could still tank this year with your pick back in the fold and try to add a PG or Center in the draft to go with a very healthy 2-4 group of Booker / Beal / Grayson Allen / DillonBrooks / Ryan Dunn/ JabariSmith.

My guess is that Phoenix would rather wait it out and try to do something like Jalen Green + Whitmore + 4 or 5 firsts for Booker when Green's extension kicks in, and have a 5-7 year window of competing with VanVleet-Sheppard-AmenThompson-Booker-Brooks-Eason-JabariSmith-Sengun, which if their defense is for real makes them a contender with Booker's shooting/scoring and even normal development from the young guys (Everyone expect Van Vleet and Brooks). Probably add an MLE backup center to make it a top 9.
