25 Game Check-In - How are you feeling?

Post#1 » by djsunyc » Tue Dec 10, 2024 4:14 pm

record: 7-18
home: 6-7
road: 1-11

ortg/drtg/net: 111.0 (21st) / 115.6 (22nd) / -4.6 (24th)

bad stuff:
tov%: 16.2 (24th)
TS%: 55.7 (24th)
3PA: 33.0 (29th)
3P%: 34.1 (23rd)

good stuff:
reb%: 52.4 (2nd)
reb: 46.3 (4th)
ast%: 67.7 (5th)

games lost to injury:
brown: 25
kelly: 23
quickley: 22
jakobe: 14
scottie: 11 (not including 2 where he left injured)

tough to get a gauge of how this all fits b/c of all the injuries. we've seen ups and down from all our rookie deal players but overall growth. we move the ball but are not a good 3 point shooting team. we control the glass but turn the ball over a ton.

how are you feeling about the team so far this season taking the injuries/youth/etc into account?

Just as I expected honestly. Still young and developing. Playing hard but because of youth making a lot of mistakes that cost you games in the end. Offense and defense are pretty much where I thought they'd be but hoped for better offense.

I mean, whatever?

We're competitive and playing hard. Our young players are playing decently. I'd like to see KO and Brown out the door.

But we're trending to a top 8ish pick which is nice.

This is a very entertaining team to watch. Except for OKC and Cleveland they compete well against all teams. Rookies have brought far more than anticipated. I figured we'd be on an Ulrich Chomche watch as our only hope, but with the play of the other 4, we need not pin our hopes on another 2 years from 2 years away.

Unhappy because we aren't good enough to really challenge for anything but not bad enough that we'll rely heavily on luck of the draw for the draft. And also, our main guys keep falling to injuries and some of 'em are really slow to come back. If there's light at the end of the rainbow, I'd feel better but I don't see it yet.

Incomplete. The core has not really played together and the vets have been out. The benefit is seeing the rookie class a bit more and they haven't been great, but passable.

Seeing how Poeltl has been used and the need for a passing big has shown the path forward for the the position. Need a hub type of C - a screener, shooter, and a guy who can make a pass.

Not sure what to make of Dick and Barnes. Both have some elite moments but others where they disappear in games.

if the team was completely healthy all year, what do you think our record would be now?

Some growth in our players.
However, we are pretty much relying on transition and Poeltl (rebounding), so I am unsure the team ceiling is that high.

I think having a top pick is pretty much needed for adding a half court creator, then we need to figure out the C (both future starting and backup C). Then at some point, we need more size at forward spots, particularly with Boucher may not be part of our future plan.

Couldn’t be happier. Team competes every night, young players are showing potential and we are in a great position to add a very talented player in a strong draft.

Just hoping the Stars continue to line up for that top 5 pick... the rooks get valuable development and evaluation time, and we position ourselves well for next season, minus some deadweight ...

Play-in. Hence, my first statement.

If the plan is to start competing next year, Poeltl should be a good guy to have around for at least several years. The problem is finding the next guy up to develop in the meantime. Wanted us to find someone in 2024 draft but wasn't meant to be. But yeah, definitely need more size at least one more guy who can play both PF/C.

Other than the injury, I am happy. We got a group with some potential and room to grow. I want to see BBQ together on the court.

I think not necessarily a hub type of C. A stretch C with hard screen would be good enough.
However, there may not be any available.

I put somewhat happy but they are a few costly wins from being right in no mans land.
