The Heat don't want to give him the max.

They're initiating this.

Jimmy could move the needle. The Rockets, on the other hand, are not as close and they have a young team so should be thinking long term.

Wiggins, Kuminga, and a couple of first round picks probably gets it done. Has to be a three-team trade to match the salaries.

Holy whaaaaa… Wiggins, Kuminga, and multiple first rounders? GS shouldn’t do that trade even if it was split in half.

Edit: Oh, you’re a Heat fan. That makes sense.

When you have a player as good as Curry, it makes sense to mortgage the future to allow him to contend, but GS hasn’t been willing to do that.

Yeah, Curry has had it real rough.

He can be traded as someone else pointed out but it just means whoever trades for him is going to have to pay more so he's just harder to move.

Now shoo

It’s almost impossible for him to be traded. So it’s pointless to keep mentioning it.

but still can be traded, so go away

Glad to hear this, a Butler trade would've been so pointless.

The Heat don't even really want him to go anyways. He gets along fine with everyone, its just one of those things in the NBA where star players who can command a max at 35+ are always going to have huge issues justifying that salary. The only times you'll see teams freely give that up is either when the team isn't contending anyways and they want the star to sell tickets, or when the team is already tied up financially and the money can't really go anywhere else anyways. Miami is in neither of those positions, they have flexibility and they are at least semi competitive, and I'm pretty sure Jimmy understands this as well which is why he isn't badmouthing the team or the organization, just open to a trade since he has to look out for his best interests as well.

This is one of those rare cases where I think both the team and the player have a mutual understanding that the fit may not work out even if there is no bad blood.

Houston rushing this build would be the worst decision they could make.

Denver is the only team that makes sense given his age.

I don't think he moves the needle for the Rockets/Warriors.

If Denver is serious they do everything possible to get this deal done. No FAs are coming to Denver. Trades is your only way to bring in legit talent.

I don't think Denver has any incentive that gets Miami to make that trade.

Miami are kidding themselves if they think they are getting a blockbuster package for Butler.
His age and expiring contract makes him a sunk asset at this point.

They would have to (at minimum) throw in a solid young piece like Braun for Miami to consider it, but I doubt Denver would do it

I give it a chance he ends up a Warrior because I don't think Jimmy is going to be able to command as much in a trade as MIA would like, unless things turn toxic in LA soon, I don't see LeBron leaving JJ & AD high and dry.... AND Jimmy is on record as saying that he doesn't care about getting paid anymore which is surely music to GSW's ears so they could likely re-sign him for another couple of years to ride out what's left of Steph's historical career.

I don't think Jimmy puts them over the top but he certainly gives them a chance and there really aren't much better options that are available (that we know of). DAL would be fantastic/the ideal fit imo but they simply don't have the pieces to make a deal.

I think it is more likely that Butler will opt into the last year of his contract and remain stuck playing in Miami for the remainder of his current contract.

I can't see a contending team being dumb enough to trade away $50 million of salary and picks to the Heat for Butler.

Butler is 35 years old and played in 15 seasons.

At this point in his career, he is a slightly better DeRozan.

Many posters saying the Heat won't get a haul for Jimmy, which is fair enough, but the Heat have no incentive to trade him if the package isn't intriguing. He's still very good and the team does have an outside chance of getting somewhere this season, they'll just let him play out his contract.

I think Jimmy might end up staying in the end because he won’t get a max offer from anywhere else, either.

He's still a really good defender so he's quite a lot better than DeRozan.

I never said it would but ok.

I couldn't wrap my head around why someone would inject themselves into the middle of a back and forth they had nothing to do with, and make a factually incorrect statement on top of it.

Made no sense but you must be one of those Jalen Green fanbois that's mad at me for being right for the last 4 years.

Sorry I have eyeballs and a brain. Who knew low IQ players didn't magically become better out of nowhere. How do people keep getting fooled by empty calorie 20ppg scorers and upper percentile athletes? These guys flame out so often you would think people would catch on eventually.

Guess not. Stay mad tho, it's amusing

Clippers might do it. They have a couple of expiring contracts but that's it.
