15 Dec: Trade Proposals Competition

Post#1 » by Butter » Sun Dec 1, 2024 8:29 pm

Ok, let the games begin.

Butter Trade #1

Portland Trades:
Jerami Grant ( 4 / $29.7M
Kris Murray (3 / $2.9M)

Sacramento Trades:
Kevin Huerter (2 / $16.8M)
Trey Lyles (1 yr/ $8M)
Devin Carter (4 / $4.7M)
2027 1st top 5 protected

Butter Trade #2
Portland Trades
Anfernee Simons (2 / $25.8M)
Jabari Walker (1 / $2M)

San Antonio Trades
Harrison Barnes (2 / $18M
Tre Jones (1 / $9M)
2028 1st (Boston)
With Sohan coming back, Barnes is expendable. Keldon Johnson could be substituted, but assuming Barnes has less value. Simons provides invaluable spacing to open the floor for Wemby.

Butter Trade #3
Pistons trade:
Tim Hardaway Jr (1 / $16.1M)
Isiah Stewart (4 / $15M)
2025 Tor 2nd
(2029 1st top 3 protected). (edited based on Pistons feedback)

Pistons Receive
Brandon Ingram (1 / $36M)
Daniel Theis. (1 / $2M)
The Pistons stronger than expected start spurs an interest in winning now. The Pistons give up some depth and draft capitol to gain a legit #1 scorer. Ingram combined with Cade to lead the Pistons resurgence

Pelicans Trade
Brandon Ingram (1 / $36M)
Daniel Theis (1 / $2M)

Pelicans receive
Deandre Ayton (2 /$34M)
2029 1st top 3 protected). (edited based on Pistons feedback)
This trade hinges on Zion. If the Pelicans want to try to make a final push with Zion and CJ, Ayton is a great rebounder, and opens the spacing for Zion. If this deal totally flops, Ayton is an expiring deal next year and perfectly positions the Pelicans to tear it all down and rebuild. Based on previous feedback from Pelicans fans, the sole 1st goes to them.

Blazers Trade
Deandre Ayton (2 / $34M)

Blazers Receive
Tim Hardaway Jr (1 / $16.1M)
Isiah Stewart (4 / $15M)
2025 Tor 2nd
Stewart becomes the Blazers long term back up behind Clingan, freeing them up to go ahead and trade RWIII. THJ expires, and the Blazers pick up a solid 2nd rounder.

Walton1 Trade#1
POR trades
RW3

OKC
Kenrich Williams
OKC 25’ 1st (likely LAC 1st in 20’s or high teens & probably worst of the (3) that they are likely to control)

Walton1 TRADE#2

CLE
Max Strus (out 6wks w\injury), Nianng, Tyson & 31' 1st
for
Grant + (1) of Walker\Reath\Banton

JasonStern Trade #1

Portland trades:
Jerami Grant
Why for POR:
Let Ayton and Simons contracts run out and only have $48M on the books for 2026-27. Wavy inflatable tube man needs to be red and black to match Blazers colors. Would be cool outside of the Moda Center.

OKC trades:
A wavy inflatable tube man
Why for OKC:
Acquire a veteran wing for cheap to help make a run. Plus a red and black wavy inflatable tube man is of no use to them.

BlazersBroncos Trade#1
Portland Trades
Robert Williams III
OKC Trades
Kenrich Williams + lowest OKC 25 FRP + 1 of their 5 2029 SRP

BlazersBroncos Trade#2
Portland Trades
Anfernee Simons + Jabari Walker JR
Orlando Trades
Cole Anthony + Gary Harris + Jett Howard + 3 SRP [Gary Harris routed to a playoff team into a TPE or MLE]

I have heard from 3 separate sources. Portland has a protected 1st on the table for Rob.

Kenrich for RWIII works straight up which is nice with our likely reluctance to cut anyone to make a deal work.

That and likely the lowest of OKC 2025 FRP w/ lotto protection would be the move. I dont see many teams making a FRP move for RWIII - but OKC is in a unique spot with their plethora of picks and the depth to keep him fresh. Think moving off the extra year of Kenrich makes it even more palatable for them.

I love RWIII - wish we could move Ayton instead - but if we are moving him I love putting him in a great situation like OKC. Guy deserves it - class act in every way.

iHart, RWIII and Chet as a big rotation is unfair on defense.

I will not be surprised if RW3 gets a 1st round pick back, he should, even with his injury history, his proven contributions in the playoffs is extremely valuable, enough so to overcome injury concerns. You are not trading for RW3 for what he gives you during the season, but what he can give you in the playoffs, when the games really matter.

how does Kenrich for RWIII work straight up? Kenrick makes near 7 mil and RW over 12

Just to add some information, here are the players available to be traded on December 15th. A whopping 86 players (20% of the league). I would imagine any deals that come on\around 12\15 will obviously include some of the players on this list. They may be the headliner or more likely just the salaries needed in this new CBA world to make a deal happen. Gary Harris JR\ORL would be an example if an ORL trade was in the offing (they could do it w\o him as well).

I don’t know if this will happen on 12/15 or not, but if I were betting, I would say RW3 will be traded to OKC

Why?
There was some speculation before the 24’ draft of OKC trading their pick and RW3 was specifically mentioned

Holmgren injury may increase their interest in acquiring another big

OKC is $9.5 under the luxury tax, and could take RW3 back in a 1v1 lopsided deal

OKC has (4) 25’ 1st’s + a convoluted swap with HOU\LAC. The UTA 25’ will not convey that is a given, however the other (3) are very likely to convey

Their own

PHI top 6 protected, currently PHI has the 6th worst record, I don’t buy them tanking the rest of the season and doing it well enough that to beat out the likes of POR, CHI, BRK & DET

MIA, top 14 protect. Currently MIA has the 5th best record in EC, 11th in NBA. Could they fall back to lottery level? Maybe, but that has not been their style

Then you have the convoluted HOU\LAC swap, which as it appears now looks like it will work in OKC slight favor, as both HOU (top 10 protect swap, doubt that triggers) & LAC have lesser records than OKC

THAT Pick as it stands now could be #21 LAC (HOU pick would be #26)

There has been mention on here, that POR has a 1st on the table for RW3

The other teams with multiple 25’ 1st’s: BRK\UTA\SA don’t seem likely to have an interest in RW3

So here is the deal I could see happening:

POR trades RW3
to
OKC for Kenrich Williams and OKC 25’ 1st (likely LAC 1st in 20’s or high teens & probably worst of the (3) that they are likely to control)

Kenrich Williams has 3yrs left at around $7mil, but 3rd year has team option

OKC only has Caruso to resign next year and $31mil in projected space below the luxury tax, when RW3 is a FA in 26/27, both Jalen Williams & Chet will be RFA

This deal makes too much sense IMO

Ya I think RWIII being moved is the only likely deal.

Simons and Grant wont have a market IMO. Too much money + years for Grant w/ this new CBA. No team willing to move a FRP for Simons. Ayton simply has no teams with even matching salary, much less willing to attach compensation.
No team is trading for Matisse without him stringing a few healthy games together.

RWIII for Kenrich and the lowest OKC 25 FRP makes a ton of sense. Culture fit in OKC, helps limit Chet and Hart minutes when healthy, in the immediate helps depth w/ Chet out, OKC has the surplus of FRP to make a gamble on a injury prone guy like Rob (Only team where that holds true IMO).

Yep, I think this talk of OKC is pretty much on the money. If there is a trade to happen, then it's likely something like the above.

Would be sad to see RW3 go but if there is a FRP on the table then we gotta do it.

Ayton, Simons and Grant I understand it can take some time to move players for the best value (GMs are competitive and likely always looking for desperate teams to haggle down) but if 2/3 (at least) aren't gone by the trade deadline its a massive failure.

Shams has already reported this is not the case. Simons and Grant have markets and interest, other teams are calling about them.

The question isn't of interest/market, it's of Portland/Cronin's asking price and what he's willing to accept back as return.

Ayton on the other hand you may be correct about, the last few people on Ayton Island seem to have their bags packed and calling it.

Portland trades: Jerami Grant
OKC trades: A wavy inflatable tube man

Why for POR:
Let Ayton and Simons contracts run out and only have $48M on the books for 2026-27.
Wavy inflatable tube man needs to be red and black to match Blazers colors. Would be cool outside of the Moda Center.

Franz now going down might bring ORL (Hopefully) into the Simons market.

Would really like to end up with Howard to kick the tiers on him. Even if its just filler, Howard and 2 SRP I would pull the trigger. Its now or never time for Scoot.

My shot -

Robert Williams III for Kenrich Williams + lowest OKC 25 FRP + 1 of their 5 2029 SRP
Anfernee Simons + Jabari Walker JR for Cole Anthony + Gary Harris + Jett Howard + 3 SRP [Gary Harris routed to a playoff team into a TPE or MLE]

Dont think we find a take for Grant due to his deals length - despite reports of interest. Ayton we all know doesnt really have a market unforunatley.

G - Scoot Henderson / Dalano Banton / Cole Anthony
G - Shadeon Sharpe / Matisse Thybulle / Dalano Banton
F - Jerami Grant / Jett Howard / Rayan Rupert
F - Toumari Camara / Deni Avdija / Kris Murray / Kenrich Williams
C - DeAndre Ayton / Donovan Clingan / Duop Reath

Based on "rumors" that the Nets have interest in Jimmy Butler

Trade #5

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/trade-machine/_/year/2024/team1/bkn/team2/mia/team3/por

Heat Trade:
Jimmy Butler
Heat Receive:
Jerami Grant (4 / $29.8)
Robert Williams (2 / $12.4)
I'm sure Heat fans are expecting LeBron James and multi-year FRPs, but this gives them two solid vets.

Nets Trade:
Ben Simmons (1 / $40.3)
Zaire Williams (1 / $6.1)
Nets Receive
Jimmy Butler (2 /$48.8)
Nets only make this deal if they think they have a shot to compete in the playoffs now.

Blazers Trade
Jerami Grant (4 / $29.8)
Robert Williams (2 / $12.4)
Blazers Receive
Ben Simmons (1 / $40.3)
Zaire Williams (1 / $6.1)
Straight salary dump. RWIII adds value and makes the numbers work

I’d consider it, if it involved Ayton\Thybulle, but Grant and RW3 no way I think each of those guys can get a 1st on their own

But I think this is a moot point, as MIA is gonna want more than that, which means that Butler is probably not going anywhere

I'll go with:

Ayton to Detroit for THJ. Gets us a big trade exception and an expiring contract

and

RW3 and Jabari Walker to Atlanta for Nance, Cody Zeller and the less favorable (to us) of the Lakers unprotected or Sacramento pick. Protections top 12 in 2025, then top 10 in 2026 then converts to a 2nd if not conveyed as a first
