I hate him. He’s worse than Whiteside. At least Whiteside hunted blocks, this bum just stands there.

My favorite moment from the game (besides Shaedon’s skywalking), was when the Jazz scored and the ball fell right into Ayton’s hands— but instead of walking 5 feet to inbound the ball he just casually tosses it in the direction of his teammates who aren’t any closes to the end line. One of which was a visibly annoyed Deni Avdija. Would love to see that lowlight again.

As an Arizona grad who was there when he kicked ass, and was stoked when he went to the Blazers, gotta say I’m bummer how lousy it has been.

You would hate too if you realized Luka Doncic was passed on to draft this bum…I’m sure you of all people can understand the pain of passing on an all time legend for a mediocre center.

Twice!

But the centers POR were not mediocre so much as hobbled by injury.

I wonder if Luka never wins MVP or title, ends in Harden level career-wise, are people still gonna talk how drafting Ayton(not his fault) ruined their dreams.

Dallas went to the finals with Luka leading the way. So he already is more successful than Ayton.

James Harden is gonna be a first ballot HOFer…if Luka has that type of career, you don’t think people would rather have that than Ayton who likely won’t even be a starting C in the NBA after his current contract?

Ayton is gonna stick around in the NBA after his current deal similar to how Alex Len is still in the league but that’s basically it.

Even if Luka retired at the end of this season, he'd have achieved more than DA could ever hoped to if he played another decade in the league. Luka's been in the league for 7 season and has 5x all-star selection, 5x 1st team all-NBA, ROY, WCF MVP, and has been top 5 in MVP voting shares in 3 of those seasons. Not the mention the numerous player of the week/month awards.

Ayton with his one Player of the Week award in 2022, all-rookie 1st team selection and his claim to fame one playoff run isn't even in the same league

You rudely forgot to list Ayton as being runner-up in the NBA 2k players tournament few years ago. I think he values that accomplishment more than the others you mention. It’s something that Ayton puts a lot of valuable time, even sleepless nights, into training for. That’s something Luka will never ever be able to accomplish, I can probably beat Luka at 2k myself.

I wonder if he still holds some grudge against Booker for this.

You mean the nights where he's grinding until 4-5am so he can master his craft? Or you mean, where he's sleeping on a blow up mattress despite having generation wealth because he's just grinding too hard to have time to get a real bed?

Luka doesn't have that grindset mentality. All he does is play a a children's game on a court, not a real grown ass man's vidya game

On the real though. Must be great being DA. Being naturally gifted enough to get generational wealth within half a decade while putting in minimal effort and playing NBA2k late into early morning. That's a boys dream

That's not my point. Ayton is not on the team anymore. I couldn't care less if he's starter on his next contract. People act like Luka is MJ and already won multiple MVPs/titles, while the truth is he has none, has started regressing at 25yo and a lot of Mavs fans are really frustrated with his conditioning and lack of off ball play. Hypothetically he never wins title, neither Suns do, but you had to watch CP3, KD, next star FO pairs with Booker rather than James Harden. Do you still consider that draft as bad as '84 one ?

Ayton sucks. But I also think he was a critical part of why our 2FG based system worked in 2020-23. There was no weakness in our offense - all efficient 2s and 3s.

I hate to say that I think we'd be better off today with DA rather than Nurk and Allen. Watching Ayton play pains me, but if there were an owner who could manage to buy off the league's drug testers, they could pump that man full of anger and energy and go all the way.

Not to mention Doncic is probably a shoe in for the HoF and a lock if he manages to get his team another title. Ayton? He'll be lucky to be in the league if he keeps going as he is. I know height is something you can't teach, but it's pretty pathetic to be held out by the coach because your approach to the game you get paid to play is abjectly poor.

We can always imagine what if but what if we had worked out a trade for SGA instead of Mikail?

Also say we had drafted Luka I have no faith that JJ would have assembled a winning roster to surround him either because JJ seems to hate athletic big men and point guards.

You can ‘what if’ the **** out of 90% of Jones’ deals…. He’s just an unimaginative mediocre GM who has done as much damage NOT doing things as he has with his actual ineffective tinkering. Cant blame him for InfuriAyton though. That boy’s brain is stuck at 13. Had he kept progressing, he’d still be here. Not picking Luka is salt in that wound. Do a redraft of that year and the boy blunder goes 9th or 10th. Probably would have done him better.

Also, One could argue selecting Williams to coach this bunch was a bigger mistake. There is a reason why he’s coaching a high school now. Nice tumble Moronty

Has luka had more success already than booker? He led the team to the finals and was the only real star on the team.

Depends on who you ask, I suppose. But if you're talking about the very top players in the league, Doncic is going to be mentioned first over Booker each and every time. And it wasn't just Doncic: Basketball is a team sport and he obviously didn't do it alone. And to say he was the only star when Kyrie Irving was on that team is pretty laughable.
