I'm a little wary of John Collins, after he messed up his hand on the Hawks his shot has never been the same.

He’s actually all healed up and shooting rather well these days.

Best shooting season of his career currently at 44% from 3 on 3 attempts

I don’t think we are in on this considering our lack of draft capital. I like a deal with Utah and them prioritizing prospects over picks.

Yup no brainer stretch scoring 4 for us. If we can pull getting Collins and Sexton we might as well keep Butler for one last run.

Any problems we have with Rozier now is in hindsight. At the time we were dealing with a checked out, washed Lowry that refused to even shoot. We desperately needed a PG and Herro wasn't looking like he is now. I'd still do that trade any day. Can you imagine what Heat fans would've been like if we had just let Lowry expire?

Rozier was also coming off a real hot streak during that time. Scoring nearly 50 in a game. They also kicked the can on the tax bill another year saving 15 million the previous year. They tried their best to maximize the return on Lowry’s deal. Rozier was the best they could do at the time and he said all the right things about loving Wade and buying into Heat culture. Just hasn’t worked out. We need specific system players at our PG spot. He’s just not it

Kicked the can? They could have been out of the tax this year. Nobody is talking about what the money situation is for Miami, they've now been in the tax 2 straight years which means that if they're in the tax once or both of the next 2 years the repeater tax starts. I keep reading about trying to stay out of the aprons for next year but absolutely nobody is talking about the repeater tax for a franchise that doesn't like to even be in the tax, not to mention missing out on that nice big check at the end of the year for not being in the tax which is growing with fewer teams not in the current tax. The owner could be losing 30-50 million just this year by being in the tax, it could be even more next year. Miami has to shave off someone's significant contract for next year which is why I think the FO would be fine letting Butler walk vs moving someone else which could cost them an asset to move or lose out on the deal.

This Dime article proposes Butler packages from the Rockets, Mavs, Warriors, Magic, Lakers and Spurs.

https://uproxx.com/dimemag/six-potential-jimmy-butler-trades-miami-heat/

Six Potential Jimmy Butler Trade Ideas The Heat Could Make

...There are, however, some tricky things here:

1. According to Charania, Butler wants to go to a team where he can win right now, and specifically mentioned the Rockets, Mavericks, and Warriors.

2. Butler makes a lot of money ($49.7 million this season).

3. Butler plans on hitting unrestricted free agency this upcoming summer.

4. The new apron rules restrict some contenders from aggregating salaries to bring Butler in.

None of this makes a deal impossible, it’s just tricky to get a sense of what the Heat would be able to get back if Butler is a rental. It does help that Butler is putting up some decent numbers this year — 19 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.2 steals in 32.1 minutes per game on 55.7 percent shooting from the field — and is about as proven of a playoff performer as there is in the league, even as he’s getting older.

All that said, we wanted to look through the NBA and try to identify which teams could potentially pull off a move of this magnitude, whether they’re on Butler’s list or not.

Glad he finally bounced back. I remember seeing pics of his finger years ago, and I wasn't sure if he
d ever get his touch back.

The more I think about the possible GSW trade that seems the most realistic the more I am OK with it. A Wiggins and Kuminga can help us make our pick convey to the thunder this year making our pick situation better. Or Maybe we can turn a Kuminga and Rozier as filler into a John Collins that is off our books in 26. We pass the Hot Potatoe Kuminga extension to someone else while getting off the Roizer bad fit now. Utah gets what is seen as the better asset while Roizer becomes and 20+ Mil expiring. We remain competitive now, convey all picks owed, and then go into 26 with most if not all our picks and a pretty clean cap sheet to go whale hunting.
