LaRavia
Kennard
for
Harris
Da Silva
Orlando would replace injured Harris with an elite veteran sniper and swap a rookie forward in da Silva for its more experienced version in LaRavia who is having a breakthrough season and sitting in the NBA top list in -/+. Orlando would be able to resign both, unlike Memphis.
Memphis would exchange two good players it cannot resign for a rookie contract of da Silva. Harris would be waived and his spot would be given to Spencer.

Re: ORL - MEM
ORL just drafted Silva. I would be shocked if they moved him in a 'deck shuffling' deal like this.
Glad Jake is playing well finally - but him being due for a extension 2 year sooner than Tristan is big here. Especially since both Jake and Tristan are slotted as backups long term in ORL. Unlikely ORL would pay the money LaRavia gets offered on the market.

Re: ORL - MEM
LaRavia has played himself into a small trade asset, but likely only a decent 2nd since his option was declined (which I am still a little miffed they did that) which is less than Da Silva's value.

can't imagine he fetches even a decent second. he would essentially be a rental for another team since they cant offer more than 5M to retain him.

Orlando cant even pay him the money Laravia gets offered on the market. they can only offer him 5M i think

Good catch.
And if he keeps this play up he is getting a nice overpay swing. He would be a sweet fit at SF in SAS IMO.

Even as a rental he is playing well enough for a decent 2nd. His is a playoff rotation caliber 3/4 wing that is easy to salary match.

Way too small a sample size. Hard to call him playoff rotation caliber when he has a total of zero minutes in the playoffs to date.

Not really, he played this caliber down the stretch last year... a good finish on a 3rd year player that carries over to a quarter of his 4th year is exactly what you want to see from a player. Plus he has become a plus defender, it not just his shooting coming around. Like I mentioned earlier I think our GM really made a bad decision here not picking up his option.

He had a bad march followed by a good april, then a bad october, great nov and okay december so far. this type of inconsistency is what i expect of a developing young player. Very possible he continues to develop into a playoff caliber rotation player but can't count on that (yet). maybe if he have a few more good months in a row leading to TDL he could be worth your valuation?
Agreed that his option should've been picked up.

I have to comment that, based on my observation, it was the decision to decline his option that triggered the boost in LaRavia’s performance.

If we trade TDS, its gonna be in package for better player. Kennard is a good shooter but the other guy I haven't even heard of. Also with Franz and Paolo injured we are in no place to trade out backup forward.

LaRavia is a 4/3 who is demonstrating plus shooting and D... albeit on a smaller sample size. He has a + 13.7 on/off for a winning team playing 23 minutes. He is the biggest draw here not Kennard. I don't think you should give up TDS for him, but I would leap at the chance to offer something like Cory Joseph and some 2nds for LaRavia to help cover when your guys are injured. But would very likely be a pure rental since if he plays like this the rest of the season he will be able to get a contract higher than you can offer. But I think Memphis is likely not taking that type of offer until the deadline when we are more sure of our health.

Value is really off here. Silva is looking like a poor man’s Franz (in his rookie season). Don’t see Orlando moving TDS unless it was in a consolidation trade for a star player.
I like LaRavia too, but his option was declined so essentially is a FA. Memphis will be lucky to get a SRP for him with all things considered.

I have been scratching my head on why our FO gives so much time to LaRavia given that they can neither resign him nor get a good return for him?

That likely wasn't the plan with Vince only suppose to be out for a short while and ticketed for big minutes. But LaRavia has a + 9.7 on/off, 2nd on the team to Clarke....so we are winning when he plays.

It’s not like he was the main contributor to our success. Ja plays - we win, it’s easy. So your opinion is that he played because he deserved… no angle… ok

I was thinking. Now my theory is that ZK got into a verbal agreement with LRV that he will resign him at the same value as the option he is about to decline (a verbal agreement similar to what he made with Kennard). The reason for that would be for ZK to get some cap flexibility for a couple of months in summer. For LRV it would be no difference except he would become UFA in 2026 which would benefit him.
