This whole thing screams "posturing" from both camps.

His agent is probably the one that told Shams to go with the story  Now he's just making public statements to keep up appearances.

The Suns can’t aggregate and the Heat can’t take back more than 100% of Butler’s salary, so a straight up trade is impossible.
A third team would have to take Beal.
And he would have to waive his no trade clause.
Or the Heat would have to send another player to a third team.

Durant and Booker also make more than Butler.

Like I said they could offer a 2031 first and their first round draft pick from last year.

Dunn
Allen
Oneal
Nurkic

That gets them to 46M he makes 48M. Maybe the Heat look at it as two first rounders, like Allen and take the offer. They would probably have to find another big on the trade market or buyout market.

That would leave them with
Okogie
Plumlee
Morris
Tyrus

Still some depth there

They can't offer very much but Butler has burned so many bridges the Heat are unlikely to have many suitors it isn't just a question of talent or age or money on his current deal including needing a new extension though those are major negatives.

It's also attitude even teams willing to look past his age and needing a new contract you aren't going to have a ton of teams willing to absorb his personality into their lockerroom. It doesn't seem like not a whole lot and isn't but I don't think Butler has a lot of trade value either.

There is a reason why the Heat were forced to hold onto Butler despite their public falling out in the offseason they can hold onto him further but at some point it's all going to become a public disaster both sides are clearly done with each other. I'll give him credit he has been more professional than Harden about it but the question is for how long?

Would Jimmy Butler and Damian Lillard work together? Toss Giannis in there as well but he seems to get along with his teammates.

Holy whaaaaa… Wiggins, Kuminga, and multiple first rounders? GS shouldn’t do that trade even if it was split in half.

Edit: Oh, you’re a Heat fan. That makes sense.

When you have a player as good as Curry, it makes sense to mortgage the future to allow him to contend, but GS hasn’t been willing to do that.

Yeah, Curry has had it real rough.
People really don't seem to realize the talent Curry has had throughout his career. What a great and fun career to watch.

I mean... Durant got moved and he's older than that even if only slightly. Yeah, we're talking Kevin Durant and all but still.

GS is the obvious option but what about OKC? They need to cash in some picks at some point, and Butler for the next couple years makes them an even stronger contender. Can you imagine Butler and Caruso on the wing defensively?

I sincerely doubt the HEAT would trade Jimmy to Milwaukee. Also, for what package?

Yep. It wasn’t meant to be a knock on him or anything. It’s just wild to pretend that Steph hasn’t had a great amount of help for most of his career.

right, but again, this is where i wonder what exactly Butler is really worth at this point in his career? Maybe I'm wrong but I cant really see teams lining up to give up major pieces to acquire him at his age.
