Jimmy Butler Adds Suns To Trade List

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Dec 11, 2024 11:40 pm

Jimmy Butler has added the Phoenix Suns as a potential trade destination, sources tell Shams Charania. Butler also has the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors on his list.

Butler's agent, Bernie Lee, has reportedly signaled the interest in the Suns in league circles.

With the Miami Heat taking a wait and see approach to Butler's contract this past offseason, the possibility of a trade has increased.

KD gets what he wants so it’s probably inevitable now.

Jimmy Butler has had issues at every single team he has been on now. I wouldn't want him on my team because of that.

I don't really see him fitting with any of those teams except maybe the Warriors but he would slow down their pace. He becomes 3rd option with the Suns or Mavs. I think he would throw a wrench with the Rockets who are currently playing unselfish basketball and are currently overachieving. They are a young team and brining in an aging Butler who is set in his own ways will definitely cause issues with their current chemistry.

Issues like two finals appearances?

These disputes would not be occurring if contracts were not guaranteed. Butler is already making above market value, but he knows he could also make above market value on additional guaranteed contracts. Eliminate the guaranteed factor and he would consider himself lucky to have his current contract pay.

On another note, I am not in favor of the team owners either. Eliminate all tax subsidies and any form government funding for nba teams. The NBA can support itself. Put that money into institutions that matter or give the money back to the tax payer.

He would fit in magnificently in PHX in place of Beal.... there is zero chance MIA want's Beal.

I think he would fit in well with HOU. They could even make it happen without including any key rotation players, but it would require moving four smaller contracts... a third team would likely need to get involved unless MIA is OK with waiving a few players. But HOU has last summer's #3 and a enough future draft capital to get almost anything done.

It's a similar situation in GSW, but worse. They would have to include several rotation players... I just don't see how they get to that number without at least a couple rotation players, including at least one starter. They don't have a lot of draft capitol and Kuminga would probably be the best young player in the deal. I don't see it.

Dal would get worse with the trade. Their roster is Luka, Kyrie and a bunch of value contracts.

Honestly, I don't think he moves any of the teams mentioned further into contender status other than PHX. And that's just because I don't expect Beal to be healthy in the playoffs.

Butler has made it perfectly clear over the years he isnt close to being a primary option on a proper contender. Slotting into 2nd or even better 3rd actually makes him more valuable, a role player instead of a fake star

Agreed, that's why he would fit so well in PHX... I just don't see any way it gets done.
