Big day Sunday, apparently Utah and Brooklyn are ready to make moves right now. Let’s see if we get some rumors and action

Danny Ainge is that guy on fantasy that refuses to make a single move unless he significantly wins every trade he makes

Obviously it will be a lot easier for the Heat to deal with Sean Marks then it will be Danny Ainge.

That's it. That's the entire list of guys playing productively into their late 30s. If you're wondering who #4 on the list of 36+ year olds is ...

Westbrook 11.3 ppg

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/traditional?CF=AGE*GE*36:PTS*GE*10

That's the drop off. And the three guys that are doing it are freaks and all time greats.

I am going to assume you selected 36 instead of 35 so as not to have to include DeMar DeRozan and James Harden to that list  . I personally would have included Chris Paul, especially when you see his production at 36/37. And Westbrook's numbers would be much better if given a starter's role (he's averaging 16-9-6 per 36, which is slightly under his production in his early 30s).

Yep, they are freaks and all-time greats, but Butler isn't far behind from a production standpoint; he's just not in an offense that has him shooting 16-18 times per game. (His per 36 puts him at 12.5 shots per game and 21ppg this season; if he got ~5 more shots, we can conservatively assume he'd make 2 of those, which would put him at ~25-26ppg per 36.)

The larger point is Jimmy Butler hasn't shown any signs of decline and doesn't have an injury history to suggest a sudden drop-off in production. In an ideal world, Miami would not pay a premium for a 36/37 yr old Butler, but I would rather see Miami pay Butler ~$50-$55/year to ~37 than to see Miami move Butler and pay significantly more for a Jonathan Kuminga, who supposedly is looking for a max extension which I think is in the $40M/year range.

I'm not against trading Butler, but the draft picks and young talent some people on the board want is not the kind of trade Miami is going for or likely to make.

Given how well Herro has played in a ball-dominant role, I don't think Schroder makes any sense even if I think he is a good player.

This is tough because I feel like these 2 are easily the best fit for the team and what we like for the team but it’s going to cost us a 1st. Would be a much easier decision if we didn’t send the 1st for Rozier last year. Maybe they would prefer Jovic Jaime or Ware and a 2nd as opposed to a 1st? I just feel we need as many 1st as possible for Fox this summer and as of right now we’ll at least have 2 along with all the young guys, that can get it done. Take 1 1st away and that’s going to be harder.

Schroeder and Dru Smith would be a really good PG duo. DFS and Highsmith would also have teams on the wings in hell defensively. Especially countering Boston’s tandem.

Big NO to Dennis Schroder. Don't ya'll ever learn? It's much easier to put up big numbers on bad teams. Terry Rozier did the same thing! The guy was averaging 23 points, 7 assists per game on 46/36/86 shooting splits when we traded for him, and look at him now.

Schroder isn't an update over Rozier. In fact, I would rather take Terry.

The young player is the sub for the 1st and if they take on J Rich or Bryant to alleviate some salary and open a roster spot you give them that 2nd. We can’t afford to trade our only first right now in 2030. It’s crucial we payout OKC this year as that first has held us hostage for years now.

Warriors are a good spot for him. Looney, Melton, and 1st rd pick probably gets that done.

Rozier Ware 2rd pick for DFS and Schroder

Just go for it one last time. With the emergence of Herro we can hope. Jimmy deserves it. Ride it out!

Dru/Schroder
Herro/Duncan
Jimmy/JJJ
DFS/Highsmith
Bam/Jovic/Love

I selected 36+ because Jimmy is already 35. Extending him would require committing to him at age 36 and beyond.

Westbrook might score more in a starters role, but his efficiency is trash even in a limited role.

I believe Jimmy had the meniscus in his right knee removed.

I’m down with this but Schroder would start for sure.

Keeps Jaime Jovic and 2 1sts as assets for Fox this summer.

We probably got snookered by the numbers Rozier was putting up in Charlotte. He was a very popular name on this board with many saying we had to go get him, so you’re right sometimes you can’t put too much stock into numbers.

H2H I would take Schroder all day over Scary though. Bad team aside, he has a track record of being a decent defender and averages right around 5 assists per game for his career compared to Rozier’s 3. More of the traditional PG prototype but most importantly an expiring deal. I wouldn’t give up a 1st for him, or either one of my two best U24 prospects, but Jovic would be fair game.
