Look, I don’t condone his actions, and as a teammate I’d be pissed. However you’ve gotta respect that the man felt so strongly about this team being trash that he was willing to put his career on the line for it.

Actually, no you don't have to respect quitting on your team. At all, ever.

Is this guy really that dumb or is he a Seahawk fan just trolling?

Umm, no. Davis was highly criticized and shunned for his decision.

As was Antonio Brown, who did the exact same thing that Campbell did.

Like Davis & Brown, Campbell didn't even have the gumption to continue to show his face on the sideline. He walked into the locker room in the 3rd quarter.

Unexcusable. Should be cut today

I'm pretty confident if Purdy did was Campbell did, BigJ would be eviscerating Brock right now.

Are you kidding me? I’d be happy that we could move on from him. Just like I’m happy we’re moving on from Campbell. I’d rather a tiger show his stripes than hide in the bushes. I employ 25 people at my company. The ones who kill you aren’t the obnoxious ones that you can easily fire. It’s the people who lay low and quiet quit.

Yeah, 'cause Campbell has been absolutely flawless this season. Clearly a guy who is in a position to cast stones on this team.

To me, it sounds more like a guy who was upset that he was taking a back seat to Greenlaw and Winters and decided to pout about it. Regardless of the reason, in that situation, I'm a fight to the bitter end sort of guy. Not shocked that you aren't.

And no, I don't have to respect a guy who walked out on his team.

Not surprised that I’m not? No need to make this personal man. All I did was state an opinion.

I said not shocked, which is quite a bit of a higher standard. But you're right, I try not to engage in personal attacks, but I did there and retract it.

Just can't see defending this one, though. We were in the middle of a huge game. The season was very literally on the line, and he walked out on the team. Maybe there's some great reason we haven't heard about, but absent that, it's inexplicable and I'd be fine with seeing him cut today.

Also odd to talk about him putting his career on the line. For a player in his position, this could be a career-killing move.

Of course you would be thrilled to move on from Purdy in that hypothetical, but lets not act like you wouldn't leading the lynch mob.

I also run a company. Its not hard to identify indifference and incompetence, you just have to get ahead of it before it becomes a problem.

In Campbell's case there were known warning signs with him criticizing Green Bay for how they used him during the offseason. There may have been more red flags that arose during the season, that only people in the building are aware of. In any event, what he did is inexcusable and certianly not respectable.

I would distinguish the Davis case a bit, though there are obvious parallels. Davis retired. I don't see Campbell doing that. I don't approve of abandoning your team in the middle of a game, but football is a brutal sport, and Davis is a guy who has dealt with a fair bit of personal tragedy (brother who was murdered at a young age, as memory serves). He also died under mysterious circumstances that suggest it might have been a suicide, so possible mental health issues or substance abuse at play. It was also game two of the season, which his team was losing by 25 points, so it's not like his presence was likely to have made the difference.

To some degree, you have to be a little insane to play football, knowing what we know about CTE and the longterm effects of that amount of pounding on the body. If someone decides to walk away entirely, even if the timing is awful, I can respect that self-awareness. If that's what Campbell is doing, then I will withdraw some of my criticism. But it sure doesn't look that way, especially given his loss of snaps to Winters and Greenlaw's return.

Lotta people were sticking up for Davis. The AB situation was more the Bucs fault for employing him in the first place.

Really appreciate the retraction. Patterson could use some of your grace with his personal attacks.

I just read may be suspension without pay for conduct detrimental to the team. Cutting him would put him on the waiver wire and allow him to be picked up by a playoff team....Then again, who wants a quitter?

Who cares if a playoff contender picks him up? Not going to impact us at this point.

That's what pat kirwin suggested on Sirius xm. Suspend and hold him as long as you can, but never play him again. Punitive as you can be. Does that send the right message to the other players?

Coupled with his tweet and timing it’s hard not to see it as kinda premeditated. You never know what’s going on in someone’s life, but presumably his teammates don’t know of any excuse or they’d be floating it, and on a team full of guys going through stuff like this squad it’d have to be pretty major to pass muster. Strange way to end your career, and his post seems to indicate he’s not aware that he’s done that.
