My guess is move was made to convert Dru Smith to a guaranteed contract and give Isiah Stevens a 2 way.

Atleast we didn’t have to pay this time for the salary dump. Dru Smith gets his well earned deal now.

I guess Miami was happy enough with Ware's progress to move the current backup.

This could be a precursor to a Jimmy trade where we take on a few players

The move was a salary dump in order to sign Dru Smith now and possibly Keshad Johnson though i think they’ll wait on that one till his prorated figure goes down a bit. They still have contol with the 2 way status to wait. Dru is a rotation player now so signing him to a contract now is deserved. Isiah Stevens also needs to be on a 2 way before he gets plucked.

I don’t think it has anything to do with that moreso than needing to dump that salary and freeing up the roster spot for Dru Smith and Keshad Johnson to stay under the 2nd apron.

Marks brings up a few decent points with regards to teams with available cap space. At the end of the day all of this is just noise until an outside team steps up and says we want to max out Jimmy.

Jimmy is staying put imo cause i just don’t see many teams wanting to go out of there way to pay him. For me it’s Houston or a team not mentioned like the Spurs but more than likely he comes to an agreement with us on a cap friendly retirement deal.

The Spurs are not shifting from the Wembanyama timeline to the CP3 timeline. That would make absolutely no sense.

I wonder who gets the better pick swap. Maybe Miami this time since Indiana was looking for a backup center.
The Indiana Pacers have agreed to acquire Thomas Bryant from the Miami Heat for a future second round pick swap.

We have enough money to sign Dru Smith and we’ll probably wait to sign Keshad Johnson when his prorated figure is even lower after the trade deadline.

That pick swap is probably not until 2030 since i think that’s the next one we actually own lol. 2026 2nd is the Lakers pick. We basically gave him away to sign our two ways.
