Game 26: Knicks vs Magic; Sunday -6pm: 12/15/24

I saw this post and got inspired to start the game thread! Lets go!
This to me- is the difference with this group over so many other Knick teams I've seen-- decade after decade...
our fans are always panicking or complaining-- on-- and during the journey but like Hart said- they're not and let them figure it out!

He's right. If only the HC would make the adjustments he needs to make for this roster. The minutes HAVE TO COME DOWN. and he needs to adjust his defense to fit the CURRENT roster. We should not be fighting through screens, scrambling to get to the perimeter and, playing drop coverage as the roster currently stands. It's ridiculous that he does not adjust at all. It's ridiculous that he doesn't trust his bench at all.

We need a HEALTHY rim protector and another wing Thibs will play.

At a certain point, words are just words. This year's team is fun to watch when they're hot, but last year's team kept you glued to your seat even if they were down by 20. I'm not getting the same vibe right now.

We were worse after 25 games last year. People were bitching and complaining just like this year. I’ll probably link to last year‘s post game thread later. Drama queens are gonna seek out drama. That’s the way it is.

This romanticizing of last years team is fine. They did some great things, for ONE month. The rest of the year it was a dog fight with a makeshift roster. Randle was not a part of it. OG was not a part of it. Mitch was not a part of it. We had multiple different lineups last season. The only constant? Jalen. EVERYONE else was in and out of the lineup at some point.

Losing Shart changed the rest. Thibs inability to coach without Shart/Mitch is the problem we currently have. The roster is fine. Pretty deep and versatile. If only the HC could find a way to adapt and adjust. Thibs is the problem. Period.

You say that like that's a good thing. This vastly superior team should not be neck and neck with last year's early roster. And a year ago nobody was satisfied with this team.

At what point would you be concern? The excuses were 10 games, 15, 20, now we're at 25.

obviously different teams and the team wasn't really good last year until post OG trade. curious what the strength of schedule was last year at that point, I didn't realize it but this year we've had one of the easiest (3rd easiest last i checked) schedules so far.

Last year's team on this day -- record wise -- is virtually identical. 14-11 compared to 15-10. That's like looking at different shades of orange.

People are concerned, they’re just not stomping their feet in every thread looking for attention. Some people want to discuss the upcoming game in the game thread. What is your “concern” accomplishing here?

ehhh but what were the expectations of that team? a team that had all of their picks + more and good young players. the expectations were certainly different than this year.

comparing to last year is dumb unless it's a comparison to the post OG trade, healthy knicks. which was short lived and a big "what if".

Problem is Thibs isn't going anywhere. And while I don't think Thibs is thinking this, I think it'd be foolhardy to put all their hopes on Mitch. I don't get why we shouldn't be reasonably concern. We aren't talking 5-10 games in. We're talking about an obvious shift in mentality, whether they want to admit it or not.

I mean, look at the Knicks record against .500 teams last year. They were 29-4. They have already dropped 4 games against .500 teams this year.

This is painfully nonsensical. I am responding to a very specific Josh quote in this thread. Why wouldn't that be up for discussion? It's not like I came out of left field and said brought up something that Josh said himself. C'mon.

I'm not trying to connect the dots between this year's roster and last. But I don't see this team being a half game better than last year's team at this point as a victory lap.

you dont have any regard for chemistry and having 10 new players on a team and how that impacts a teams performance.

A lot of people who had subdued expectations coming into the season have completely lost their mind cuz we got eliminated from the NBA Cup. The facts haven't changed folks. This team still needs at least half the season to see its true potential and I am not even saying this current squad is the one. Its really too early to tell. We are 8th in the entire league and ya'll acting like this is 2014 and we got Jose Calderon leading point.

It's worth a reasonable discussion and not a blind eye. Can't blame chemistry when you're dropping games against Charlotte and Utah. I'm not even going to talk about why the Hawks seem like prime Bulls against the Knicks. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that clinches their cheeks when we see a .500 going up against the Knicks.
