This is the type of trade the raptors hopefully get in on with ability to take on extra money and expiring/undesirable salary

I don't think the Heat take any term contract past 2 years as they're clearly lined up for a cap space year after that.

Unless they think the youth return is worth it, which I doubt they do with Kuminga. I don't think GSW is a destination for that reason.

The Lakers have just enough 2 year or less term contracts to make it work, but there's some junk in there. The Heat would have to like the picks a lot.

Yeah, the Raptors could definitely piggyback a deal here, if the Heat don't want to take on 3 year deals of Wiggins and Anderson.

To Heat: Brown, Boucher, Melton, Kuminga
To Warriors: Butler, Highsmith, Fernando
To Raps: Wiggins, Anderson, Jovic
Salary works.

I'm guessing Warriors are sending out 1-2 picks to the Heat here. Wiggins' value is weird, not sure if Raps have to give up much for him in this case. Jovic is payment for taking on Anderson.

The Heat and Warriors don't really have to give up anything extra. The Raptors are giving Heat the 1 year expiring deals they are looking for, but obviously the talent outside of Kuminga isn't there, and Brown+Boucher is probably not enough to offset not getting Wiggins - at least talent wise. The Heat probably do get some GS/TOR picks out of this, which along with the capspace they generate, can lead to another trade in a year or two when they're more certain of what they need. They re-sign Brown on a 1+1(TO) to tide them over a year.

The minutae could be worked out via 2nd rounders and whatnot...but it's at least an interesting framework, depending on what it is exactly that MIA wants/expects back for Jimmy. I'm fairly certain the Warriors would do this. Do the Raps want this though? We don't have to give up much and get back Wiggins+Jovic while eating Anderson's salary. Probably have to move Anderson along at some point, maybe attach a protected 2nd to him.

IQ/Barrett/Wiggins/Barnes/Poeltl is rather devoid of shooting, but we'd finally see Barrett + Wiggins together lol.

I was thinking more Raptors could be landing spots for Melton, GPII. Raptors have enough guys that could actually contribute to a playoff team

Bam has talked about wanting to play PF more. That talking point blew up especially during olympics when he played next to Davis and Embiid. Poeltl could be an option to make that happen. HEAT would have ability to play big or small.

Something like this, with two waives and two trades:

Raptors waive Fernando

Trade1
GSW: Jimmy
HEAT: Wiggins, Poeltl, Mitchell
Raptors: GPII, Melton, Ware, GSW 2025 1st

Raptors waive GPII

Trade 2
HEAT: Brown
Raptors: Rozier, Jovic

Warriors end up with another $500k in salary

Heat shave $5.5m off this year salary and big tax savings. Next year they are down about $30m taking them out of tax purgatory. Heat add 3 rotational players plus Mitchell.

Raptors would have to think Ware can be a solid nba C at some point. He’d get lots of reps this year. Jovic adds another shooter and he’s only 21. Warriors pick. Raptors stuck with Rozier but it gives them a contract to trade next year for the Next disgruntled star.

It all comes down, imo, what the ceiling is for Ware….or maybe more importantly the floor.

Bam wants to play with a stretch big, so that the space on offense isnt stagnant, not someone who occupies the paint. And I doubt they trade Bulter, more to start trade conversation for support guys.

Do you want to pay Butler what he wants? Will he age like LeBron. Math says he likely won't. Does Jimmy put them over the top? meh

A lot of questions, sure, but if this about winning it all I think it makes more sense than Mikal Bridges. Butler, Brunson, KAT, OG, Hart definitely places them up with the Celtics imo. As it stands now, they're still a tier below.

You mean from a locker room stanpoint or a talent complimentary standpoint?

I too think that on-court wise, Butler is the better fit, but lockerroom wise it's a LOL factory. KAT would cry so hard once he heard that news.

In the short term I agree. With Jimmy and OG you'll be lucky to get them to play 45 games together. And Jimmy will want to get paid. Not sure how that effects the salary cap for a team like the Knicks. Plus despite his talent Butler is volatile.

I think short term is all you can aim for now as a contender, the new CBA makes contending windows way smaller, and Jimmy is a great playoff riser, I think it would've upped their ceiling.
