I wonder if we could get him the way Cleveland got Jarrett Allen, as part of a 3 team trade where Houston gets a star, and the other team wants say the best of our/Indiana's 2026 1sts or a future unprotected first instead of Smith.

I would be all about that. Who is Houston supposed to be eyeing up?

Yeah that is the thing about those expensive buy low guys, if you suggest them, all you get around here are a bunch of "Do not want" posts. The one that got away that I always think about was Porzingas for a late 1st from the Mavs that deadline. In Wiggins case we probably could got assets on top of that.

Now the part I don't like will be posters blaming mgmt for not pouncing on buy low trade candidates who may or may not. Have been actually available at all or at a low enough price. Porzingas is a good one because our offer was actually floated, Washington outbid us that's all. I don't believe Wiggins was available for cheap, GS is reserving that salary spot for an upgrade

I am not blaming management at all, these are tough decisions and he has an extensive injury history but Washington didn’t beat our offer. We just weren’t willing to put a 1st on the table. Again don’t blame the front office for not doing it, just that it is my big what if, with that core.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Too many projects...if we want to make the jump next year after we tank for Flagg, we need to fill the roster with vets who we know what we are getting day in day out. But if I were to chose, Id try and go for Atlantas or Houstons benches, those teams are pretty loaded and not enough minutes for all their guys. Players like Hunter, or one of Amen or Eason.

I would argue playing competitive basketball and coming out with a prospect like Maluach, Zikarsy, Queen, or another player that drops out of the top 10 might achieve the same results as tanking 5 years later. We have some good core talent now in IQ, Barnes, RJ, and Gradey. If we get a high level complimentary piece it would raise the teams value as a whole which provides a lot of wiggle room for our front office in future transactions.

In my ideal world we have two mobile (stretch and passing) bigs that can defend the paint like Maluach and a developed Chomche. Then Barnes at the 3. Along with 2 combo guards in the back court that provide creation and spacing in the half court.

2027:

Maluach / POR 2nd / 2026 1st TOR
Chomche / Mogbo
Barnes / Agbaji / 2026 1st IND
Dick / Walter
IQ / Barrett / Shead

I would expect the roster above to compete for a playoff spot and gradually improve year by year through organic growth. There might be offensive issues but they should be able to be T3 to T8 in defensive stats.

Paul Reed, and I’d love for us to give Terquavion Smith a chance.

Mo Bamba, Bol Bol,

You know, just give them a 1+1(team) and see what this coaching staff can do.
