Vuc might not play. Could be a win!
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

At home against these weaker East teams I usually assume we’re going to win. We look pretty decent at home

This is a pretty crucial game for us. If we somehow find a loss here then I feel our path ahead it all but decided. Not advocating for or against it...

How would you go about the lineups and options?

For me
Walter (1st), RJ (2nd), Gradey (3rd), Mogbo (4th), Jakob (5th)

They're pretty close. My guess it depends on team needs.

I think Vucevic makes more sense for more teams because of his ability to space the floor. He's putting up career high numbers shooting the ball. Gstate, Pelicans and many of other teams need a spacer than a paint clogger tbh.

But has also always been a defensive liability

Of course but many nba teams are prioritizing shooting over interior defense in today's nba. I think if you ask teams that are in need of a C currently then I think majority says Vucevic if the cost is similar. Maybe only Memphis would prefer Poeltl over Vucevic.

This season Vuc has been incredibly efficient. However, prior to this year he’s been very inefficient especially for a C. Then you combine that with his problems defensively and you get a guy that teams may not want.

What contending teams are prioritizing shooting over interior defense at the center position? I’d argue, the large majority of contending teams have good defensive players at the center position.

Off the top of my head, Gstate/Pelicans would want Vucevic beside Draymond/Zion. And let's not like Poeltl isn't benefitting from the same early season success as he's never played this well either.

Boston has Horford and Porzingis who do both. OKC has Hartenstein good defensive center does not space the floor and Chet who does both. Cleveland has Allen good defensive center and Mobley who is just now starting to do both. Dallas has Gafford and Lively who are defensive bigs strictly, both non shooters. So I'd actually argue that the best teams in the league ask their centers to at least be good defensive presences and that shooting and spacing is secondary.

What teams prioritize shooting over defense at the center position? I’m still trying to think of an example. I can’t think of any.

Teams aren’t going to get excited about Vucevic’s hot start. They know what he brings and it ain’t good. lol.

Poeltl has his limitations but brings more defensively and is more efficient. I’d argue that defense from the center position is one of the most important factors to a team’s success which is why no contending team has a bad one manning that position.
