That is true… in retrospect, Leon & Co should’ve known we were gunna lose iHart and Mitch was yet again gunna take forever to come back, and that we needed to fully commit to changing the identity of the team and not extended Thibs.
Easy to say now that they should’ve done him the favor and cut him loose knowing he’s a one dimensional coach who didn’t have the backbone of his identity anymore (iHart/Mitch). But hearing how thorough they are with considering all possibilities regarding trade scenarios, I dunno how they didn’t see this coming.
We should’ve went after another coach (like Atkinson who a lot of people wanted for a while, including you) and traded our picks from the last draft in addition to Mitch and went all in. But now we’re stuck in the middle… rookies who don’t play and have no trade value as a result, an ill fitting coach, 8 man roster, and dead weight like Mitch who is now taking way longer to return.
That being said, I prob blame Leon more than Thibs.
Or, they should have seen the loss of iHart coming and put emphasis on getting a center rather than spending so much to get Mikal. Then do the Kat deal still.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Re: PG: Knicks vs ATL
Just saw this article, maybe it was discussed already:
https://nypost.com/2024/12/13/sports/knicks-blast-adam-silver-for-dragging-out-raptors-investigation/
Could tension between Silver and Dolan be behind the terrible referees crew assigned to the Hawks game? And be responsible for the generally poor whistle the Knicks get?

Yes. We didn't discuss the topic of that article but, Dolan and the League have been at odds for many years. They are also upset we skirted the apron rules in the KAT trade or the Mikal trade. Can't remember which but, we got over and they were pissed.

Re: PG: Knicks vs ATL
Good breakdown from Benjy on the collapse this game…
*Not switching enough on defense
*Obviously not attacking Trae on offense
*Guys not relocating on the perimeter so Jalen could see them
*Jalen making bad reads, missing guys who are open w/ better looks
*Not doing a better job freeing Jalen up from Dyson
*Precious not boxing out/rebounding well enough at the 5
*Transition defense/not knowing when to get back
This is coaching for the most part and should be easily corrected…

Brother are you a Knick fan? Reading through stuff it’s nothing but negativity, damn….8th in the league.. a top 3 offense and a defense that holds teams to the 10th least points per game with its defensive monster coming back soon. They are going to be just fine.
Also, Mitch isn't fixing sh*t.
I liked Mitch, but it's apparent he can't stay healthy and I wonder if he really has the commitment to training to avoid getting hurt.
Ultimately, I think it's just the bad luck of a very tall guy breaking, which happens all the time.
I'm pretty sure he never suits up for the Knicks ever again, but even if he stays, the solution is 20-40 games of Mitch a year, while KAT gets moved to PF and now the Knicks starting lineup has LESS spacing and offensive ability?
But more offensive rebounding and defense. Our offensive rebounding sucks when we play 5 out. We got to the conference semifinals last season with Mitch as our part time center. But if he’s not going to be healthy, then we need to make a move.

It's really a matter of adjustment to me. We look great with Shart/Mitch last year but, that's gone. The offense relying on rebounds was the result of an inefficient offense. Not a good one. We were able to mask that by grabbing boards and getting second and third chance opportunities. It worked but, those players that did that are gone or hurt.
Now we play 5 out and Thibs is out of his element. We still play the same defense without the key component and Thibs is even more lost. Simple adjustments would help both issues when we need them. Get up on the screens and switch. KAT sucks in drop coverage . Change it up. Our defense would thrive if we did those two things. Do we try? No. We did for a few minutes one game and it looked great. We stopped doing it. Drop coverage and protect the paint at all times. Over and over and over.
On nights when the offense is stagnant, do we bring in another big next to KAT and see if we can grab boards? Not once. It makes no sense because Thibs offense relies on rebounding. Because he doesn't have an offense to speak of. It's street ball but, if you have someone down low to grab boards it probably would help when shots aren't falling. Now we are one and done those nights and can't defend on the other end leading to losses we should have won and/or struggling against teams we are clearly better than.
Thibs is a big part the problem. He is a one trick pony with nothing up his sleeve. What we do doesn't work and we don't try to do anything else. It's not that hard to see what's wrong if you watch the games. Our offense is predictable and our defense doesn't fit the roster. In his defense though, to be fair, we haven't had a bench at all. Part of that is also on him for refusing to play anyone but, we have been short-handed. Not that it matters to him but, I'm trying to be fair.
