OKC/CHI
OKC out: Nikola Topic, Dillon Jones
OKC in: Ayo Dosunmu (room exc), Jalen Smith
Thunder get two rotation players including a guy who can add more creation along with another big to help at 4/5.
CHI out: Ayo Dosunmu, Jalen Smith
CHI in: Nikola Topic, Dillon Jones
Bulls get an ok prospect and a very good PG prospect for two younger guys who either aren’t signed long term (Ayo) or don’t project to be much more than rotation level (Jalen).

Re: OKC/CHI
I love OKC just tripling down on more disruptive guards. I thought they didn't need Caruso, but no it just lets them be relentless all the time. So get another guy, this one with a bit of different offensive juice.
And Chicago should definitely take the swing on Topic.

Re: OKC/CHI
I know this might be blasphemy, but maybe spinning off Caruso to a 3rd instead of using Topic as the value. Seems like with Wallace stepping up Caruso is really not needed anymore especially if Ayo is traded for. Caruso's minutes will be further slashed after this, but OKC has the assets to burn and a defender like Caruso off the bench is a luxury they can afford to waste. But will Caruso buy into a even smaller role?
On the surface seems like a overpayment, but with the injury and weak draft, Topic is a hard guy to gauge value on. Jalen Smith is worth a decent 2nd in my book, worth less than Dillon Jones.

Re: OKC/CHI
Just no, what in the world makes you think the Bulls want to just fall off the standings? Have you heard that Karnasovas wants to get fired so the next guy can have a lottery pick? Dosunmu is already a sure thing contributor which is better than a could be if he ever gets on the floor Topic. And when they move Smith while still entertaining the dreams of trading Vucevic, they have to bring in not one, probably not two but THREE centers to replace them. Head examined territory for somebody.

I mean the team is very bad. I can’t speak to the front office politics, but I think the right thing for the team is to get a high pick this year in what looks to be a draft with some difference makers.

Re: OKC/CHI
Now this is a trade where I could see the Bulls asking for Dieng and OKC reluctantly agreeing.

Re: OKC/CHI
I don’t think OKC drafted Topic to allow his value to be impacted by this injury so quickly. Presti drafted him as a depressed asset expecting to sit on him. And he can afford to..
Maybe it’s worth it here as you get two guys that’ll play in the playoffs for you the next two years and that’s huge really. But I’d trade to pay with two protected firsts and hold on to Topic at least until he rehabs and I get to see if he’s closer to LaMelo than Micic…

Re: OKC/CHI
The Chi/OKC trade was last year (Vuc/Caruso for Bertains/Dieng/Miami pick). I really think OKC would have made the Finals with that deal-Caruso in Giddy/Hayward's minutes would have been a HUGE boost, and they could have used Vuc.
Ayo is the Bulls' #2 keeper, after Matas. We like him a lot, and he's still improving

The trouble is OKC doesn’t have salary filler, as Kendrich is likely to stay put, without adding Dieng or Topic. One of them plus Dillon Jones gets you matching to about 14m.
I like Dieng’s future size and ability for this roster. Topic is great. But I’d like to strike now.

Does Micic/Richards for Jones/Jaylin work the same?
A lot less exciting I know..

Re: OKC/CHI
Tough for me as I'm someone very high on Ayo. He's become an elite finisher at the from (from 0-3 feet he's shooting 70+% - this is Ja Morant Donovan Mitchell levels of scoring at the rim).
To add his defense and an at times looks to be improving 3-point shot and it'd be a hard trade to accept in my eyes.

Re: OKC/CHI
OKC owes Chi more. If nothing else, the highway robbery of Caruso for the trash that is Giddey

Absolutely terrible for the Bulls.
Those two guys are about the only two players I’m happy to keep long term.
