We are starting to see some cracks in the good vibes we had in preseason.

I did wonder that, but you're talking about a situation where the team has a chance to win still and you'd be punting just to punish Podz. I hope somehow everyone didn't realize how dire the situation was, or expected someone else to come/Podz to figure it out.

But I do think if you're coming in super confident as a rookie then 2nd year guy, you absolutely have to back it up with play or guys will start to resent you. Last year he generally did that, this year it's not happening. I really hope Steve reduces his minutes once Dennis is playing, showing the guys we do have a meritocracy and pushing Podz to figure it out. He's been gifted a lot of minutes because of his past play and lack of ball handlers, now he needs to take a deep breath and deal with 15mpg for a bit and try to grow.

It's weird how the guys who trained against team USA have come back and struggled this season. TJD and Podz have been so inconsistent and I do not know if it's them or the coaching.

Last year their bench minutes were with CP3, who did a good job organizing. I'm hoping Dennis helps both guys out.

He put up a good boxscore. But prioritizing him over the team is an issue. Dray having to come off the bench is an issue. Steph taking a back seat is an issue. The team isn't on the same page on the floor. There's a lack of trust and cohesion.

Is it directly his fault? No. But he's at the center of it. So, during the game when emotions are high, he is the target. After the game, I think most shift that to kerr and his rotations.

kerr is def the main guilty party like he was last year with klay and paul.
but defensively kuminga is not there. and this is not just on the CS. this is on him as well. he has all the physical tools to be at least a decent defender but the desire is not there, the right mindset is not there. nobody says he should be the defender wiggins or dray are, at the same time it's not admissible there is night and day between their level of play on the defensive side of the ball.
he needs to put himself at the service of the team, if this means to be gassed out because of the effort on D so be it, not the other way around.

And yes, more is an effort should have been made to help podz out. But he isn't blameless either.

As soon a podz was in the corner, jk was open and went to him. Podz chose not to pass him the ball. Instead he chose to quadruple pump luka. I'd have to check the shotclock again, but I'd bet it was close to doa.

Read on Twitter

So, podz got the ball with 10 secund.
Jk flashed to him. Podz ignored him.
Podz pumps, luka flies by him. A wide and I mean a wide open lane to the rim appears.
Instead, podz uses his dribble to step back into luka who was behind him.
Any pass from then on is a grenade at that point.

Man, some(most) of you guys are so weird when it comes to JK.

He shot well.

He had 0 turnovers and 6 assists....would have had more if his teammates had finished layups or hit the J.

He struggled defending Kyrie....so did everyone else.

You guys need to accept that Curry and Draymond are old. They are legends but are also declining players.

This roster still lacks length and athleticism like it has for the past few seasons.

Looking forward to Schroder playing and Podz sitting.

That's a tough way to phrase it.

My problem wasn't starting jk, or even loon, but loon had the worst half of the season in the first half and they went back to it to start the 2nd. Loon's screens were hardly noticeable, he was getting beat on the boards, and the defense was lacking for that unit. I didn't mind jk next to Curry/Buddy/wigs but dray has to start with those 4 to run the motion offense from the high pivot and allow/force them to play fast.

If they're showcasing jk to trade him, I guess that's one approach. If they think they can't make a big move and need jk to take another step, ok. Then play him next to your best 4 and that is almost obviously Steph/buddy/dray/wigs. Anchoring the second unit scoring is the job he's currently best suited for but it may not be enough for the team to go where they need and they're trying to force him to grow on a compressed timeframe. We'll see if he's up for it. I think it's better than the prior alternatives (e.g. playing an Anthony Lamb type).

All of this is moot now as we finally have a pg to run the second unit (even if he starts, I think Schroeder will play with the subs a lot). Let's see if there are as many (positive) dominoes from this move as well all hope including jk dominating bench units.

P.S. how much better does jk's night look if dray throws a decent pass on that late alley making it a 3pt game? And it wasn't just the box score; jk created/passed very well, took care of the ball, and continued to flash defensively like he has the last few weeks.

This was so bad and your break down captures it well. Just aimless , almost schizophrenic. I think he needs to go dominate the g league for two weeks to get humbled while getting back the confidence in his offense. He's currently having a Ben Simmons/Fultz like offensive trajectory and it's really worrisome.

I'm with you. I think podz needs a stint in the gleague. He looks shot mentally He has no confidence offensively. He is not this bad a shooter. Right now, he's gp2 without the defense and athleticism.

Green had only one negative on/off drtg season in his career -1.3 (2021)

This year -8.5 on/off drtg. Ok its only 1/3 of the season, but its huge drop to overcome. And his best drtg is when he is playing at C position.

Curry in last 10 games where GSW has 2W and 8L

Curry outplayed just once other team 1st option in this period.

His 4Q shooting splits are awful

Curry .340/.290/.100 .467 TS 36.1 USG (hero ball???)
Green .357/.000/.333 .361 TS

3Q to 4Q TS

Curry .722 to .467
Green .679 to .361

These legends are old. They cant play +30min anymore and be effective.

that's why you need the youngsters to help the vets carrying the load in stretches, so they don't arrive in the 4th quarter gassed. that is what the kuminga and podz of this world are supposed to help with. right now steph, dray, wiggins have to carry the team offensively and defensively because the rest of the guys, including the future franchise cornerstones, are unable to do it even for 15 minutes a game. what are they out there for?

We can see where things stand heading towards the trade deadline with Dennis. If things are looking bad it's the time to send Wiggins out to a contender for youth/picks. Either way GS should be featuring Wiggins as much as possible. His contract is pretty friendly if he is playing well. Someone will want him.

JK was not the problem, one problem was Steve continuing to start him over Draymond. JK just catches strays because of Steve's bad decisions. I am afraid of paying JK big money though, I don't want to sign him to a 30M+ contract.

Ultimately though Luka was just on fire and led them to victory, and the Mavs have a better team. Steve does do weird things with lineups though, e.g. vs. the Rockets he went away from what worked in our win by playing Loon only 11 minutes and barely with Sengun, then tonight not starting Draymond when we beat them with Dray starting.

You don't want to sign JK for a 30M +, he doesn't want to sign for anything less than 35M + so we're trying to see whether or not he can be a 35M +. It's not JK's problem that he's not a good player and wants a bigger role, it's Steve's fault for trying to find out if he can fulfill a bigger role.

This is the 2 time line bs. Steve is now in development mode and not win games mode. But now people are upset at Steve for developing JK?
