What can the Heat get for Jaime Jaquez?

I'd think the Heat FO might consider making another move before the deadline, they just moved Bryant and it will leave another void in their front court rotation:

I was looking at moving Terry and attaching Jaquez, deals of interest to me would be smth. like:

- Cam Johnson (Johnson <-> Terry + JJ)
- Jonas Valančiūnas + DFS (Terry to Nets + draft capital from Wizards/Heat; Sharp + JJ to Wizards; Jonas + DFS to Heat)

That assumes either Nets/Wizards like JJ and want to take a gamble on him while he is still on a cheap contract.

Think he still returns a good amount, whether it’s built up into a three team deal or not.

But for OP - Brooklyn, who probably is looking ahead to free agency 2026, should be interested in him IMO.

Yep, he's a great add for an apron team and they should pay good value for a guy who helps them for cheap for two more years. But I also feel like until Butler is dealt and for futures, this describes Miami and they should keep him.

I like the Nets deal. The Wizards aren't in a place where they should be dealing future first for obvious reasons.

Agreed Laker fans are still peeved they took JHS over the local UCLA kid Jaquez in the '24 draft.

Assuming Butler gets dealt and the Heat go for a true rebuild, how about JHS + '29 FRP for JJ. I don't think Lakers are in the market for Butler, but as an apron team they need a young cost controlled wing that can defend. This would be a better option than throwing draft capital at the Nets for another old guy like DFS. Lakers need to find a cheap wing, center, and scoring guard. They are only $35k under the 2nd apron so making bigger trades is almost impossible. DLo and Vincent are obviously very available but I don't see them going for a big salary w/ multiple years such as Rozier.

I’m a Celtics fan and I know Miami and Boston rarely do business. But I’d offer one Boston 1st (2025, 2026 or 2027) and one Boston 2nd (2026, 2030, or 2031). I think Jaquez got overrated by the hot start of first season. I think he’s a 5th starter to 7th man type but with a chance to be highly useful in that role, like a modern swing man version of Derek Fischer from the Kobe Lakers. I’d offer a late first and a second, plus the contract of Jaden Springer to match the money

Yeah, the only trade idea I can come up with needing to use him is if you don’t want to trade another future first given it looks very likely you’ll need to trade for a star in 2-3 years? Or a full rebuild*

So you are trying to build value off of JJJ and Ware to maintain the future draft capital for a trade in 2026 or 2027.

Feels like it could work out but hard to picture the player.

I don't see Miami trading him even if Butler goes out. He's talented, cheap help. I see him as more of a replacement for Butler now, depending on what we get for Butler. I'm not entirely opposed to flipping Wiggins for expiring deals and an asset

Probably, although trading JJ for an asset such as the Laker '29 unprotected FRP might be the better long term play. That pick would likely have more value in 2 years when the Heat are looking to package it for another star player and Jaquez is ready for that 2nd contract. Heats don't typically trade guys unless they are at the end of the road though.

Currently, in our backcourt, we have Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson starting (say what you want about them but they've been incredibly effective together, with Dru Smith and Terry Rozier off the bench, both of whom have been incredibly important thus far (and if you don't know who Dru Smith is, you will - he's the next man up for Miami) with Pelle Larsson (a prospect we love) and Josh Richardson (a solid veteran) unable to earn time. We really don't need to be trading JJJ for another backcourt player.

Yes, clearly, but that value better blow us away to include JJJ.

You should be. At this point, the only reason not to be is bias. They have been absolutely amazing. And I'm not saying this as a fan, I'm saying this in terms of statistics. They are 2/3 of one of the most effective units in the entire league.

This season is still one of their best chances to contend, so I could see JJJ or some draft picks being in play if the right deal comes along.

Miami’s in control of the situation; Butler can opt out, but there aren’t any contending teams with cap space to just sign him outright. Worst case, they’d still get something back in a sign-and-trade.

I agree, he could be in play, but I'm not convinced we're actively looking to move him. Miami is notorious for hanging onto their prospects, but yeah, for the right guy he could be had.

Yeah, JJJ is pretty much untouchable. He'd need to be part of a bigger package returning a new all-star caliber player. That doesn't mean we shouldn't look around to see if that's possible. I think even OP would be very content to keep him, not figuring out of we can get something we need more pants vanity, it's practicality.

23 is pretty old for a rookie. Nice player, but his upside is fairly limited.
