Al is the one who took the chance and put this team on the map, and created the culture that just won us a ring. He's been the OG day one, and bringing him back was the first move Brad did as GM. There is no way you are getting equivalent value back for Al, on or off the court, that dude is as untouchable as they come if we're being honest.

If they are looking to sweeten deals, there are other ways to do it. If they are looking for more guard help, there are players out there.

Dalano Banton is only making 2mil, and having a solid year. We gave him some burn a few years ago, maybe now would be a decent time to bring him back. His shot has been falling, and when given minutes he's proven to be able to score and disrupt shots.

Talen Horton Tucker on the bulls is a solid vet, still young at only 24 (thought bro was atleast 26 by now), and has proven to be able to play big minutes at the 1-4 spots. Has some championship experience, atleast being around that atmosphere. Honestly the dudes been balling lately and has been a proven dbl diget scorer his entire career, so I don't think Springer and some 2nds will get it done, but i'd certainly kick the tires. He's a much better player than Lonnie Walker, and yall loved that dude.

Shake Milton is a proven scorer on the Nets that is making nothing. That is certainly a player we could get for a 2nd round pick

Jose Alvarado and old friend Javonte Green on the Pels who are now dead in the water would be solid gets too.

Celtics have options, but realistically I think trading Springer for a 2nd that doesn't convey to save money is what we all should expect. Man getting Horton Tucker would be sweet though

Agree on AL that's crazy talk.

I think they target the Tillman role though, especially if Tillman can't get his legs under him. Someone that's a versatile 4/5 and can play D.

Would love to get Yabs back. Yabs is giving you 14/8/3 per 36 while shooting 38% from 3 (on 89 attempts... decent volume), 60% from 2, and 60% TS. He should be able to play both center and pf for us and he can play next to any of the bigs on our roster. He would provide some much needed physicality to our front court.

Yabs makes 2.087 million. Given current apron rules we would need to send out 1 player who makes more than Yabs. The 3 guys who make sense are Tillman, Sheierman and Springer. Presumably Philly doesn't want Springer as they traded him last year. Maybe a Sheierman for Yabs swap would interest Philly if they're ready to tank. Tough to give up a first for a 9th man in the rotation who is a FA next offseason.

Does Scheierman for Yabs work salary wise? I'm too lazy to look, but I think I would do the deal talent wise. Baylor hasn't shown much, but Yabs isn't good for Philly if they're tanking either as his value is on a contending team. I still think it's way too early to write the eulogy on Baylor as an NBA player as the league (and even our roster) is full of guys who took time to adjust to the game speed of the NBA.

I've spent years saying that Yabusele had become an NBA player, somebody should give him a chance and I was told no thanks but now y'all want to give up assets to get him. Too funny

Going in the complete opposite direction of Springer how about Seth Curry from the Hornets? Straight swap of the two?

He's shooting 44% from 3, 40%+ on catch and shoot. Liability on the other end of the court, but in our offensive system I can't help but think anyone shooting 40%+ from 3 has a chance to be effective. Probably more importantly, he's a vet minimum player, so ownership would save millions in tax.

Hornets take on $2m in extra costs, but kick tires on a 22 year old in exchange for a fringe rotation 34 year old. Springer in theory would be a good pairing with Ball and won't accidentally shoot them into an unwanted victory in their tank attempt.

Yeah Scheierman for Yabs works, but the problem with Yabs is that we wouldn't be able to re-sign him. No bird rights, no taxpayer MLE. It'd be a 1 year rental at best.

I give you your props, Smart2Nesmith. I'm not ready to live in a world where Yabs is an actual NBA player, and I'm not automatically granting many players on the Sixers that status -- but that does seem to be about where we are at.

Philly ain't helping the C's in their quest to win back to back chips. Getting a Yabs is a lot more impactful for this team vs when they traded for Springer.

If the C's go back to back and Stevens goes the route of not running it fully back because of the 2nd apron, what are some possibilities?

Who's on the block?

Things to consider:
- AL will be back for a 3 peat dynasty label? Right? 2 year Westbrook deal with the 2nd being a player option? :D
- C's get Luke's Bird Rights and he is playing like a guy who should get a multi year deal.
- Can't combine contracts in a trade.
- 154mil Cap with a 188mil lux tax threshold projection?

I can't see any team wanting KP and I'm fine with that. Hopefully it's just a heel right now. They'll manage him the best they can next season.

I think XMan will be a simple trade whether it's at the deadline or in the offseason.

It depends on what happens in the playoffs and how well Jrue holds up. Some guards really fall off around 34, 35 years and some maintain for a few years more. Chris Paul was how old when Phoenix went to the Finals in 2021, like 36 years?

Jrue oftentimes starts regular season slow, he did last year and then was awesome in the playoffs. If Jrue is awesome in the playoffs again, our third best player as he was last year, then it’s a real conundrum with the 2nd apron and, obviously the repeater tax. It seems like Tatum is unmovable, Brown is highly unlikely to be moved. And the remaining big salaries are White, KP and Jrue. White is youngest, most impactful for regular season wins, Jrue is most impactful in the playoffs, KP is most positionally valuable but with he worst injury situation and only one year remaining.

Some people are like the obvious solution is to move Jrue. And I just don’t agree that that is the obvious solution if you want to raise banners. If you at Jrue career playoff impact (+/-, on/off) Holiday is just a much higher impact playoff performer than White. So it’s not clear to me at all, if Jrue has another playoffs where he is the 3rd best player on a title team, that the solution is to dump him. I would do everything possible to keep him.

Obviously age will have a big say in the matter and I am curious to see if Jrue declines from last years playoff performance

Trade Rico? No thanks.

I would like Yabs back, was on that train the Olympics before this last one. Maybe it was the qualifier, I don’t remember, but it was a few seasons back. I’m not sending Rico though.

I’d dump Scheierman for a couple seconds in a heart beat, then use one of those seconds to shed Springer and his contract. Promote Peterson and bring back Lonnie. Doubt it happens as it would show Brad having wasted two draft picks but I’d rather have useful players on the team as opposed to guys like Scheierman and Springer

Pretty sure it does.

Sheierman gets paid 2.49 million. Yabs 2.09 million. From my understanding of the rules that should be ok. Celtics taking back lesser salary. Philly taking back less than 125% of what they send out.

It fails in the espn trade checker and the trade machine says Philly is taking back too much salary. Works on real GM trade checker.

PHI over the 1st apron is what screws it up. I don't know if they have avenues to get below it. If not, we basically can't trade with them. Would need a 3rd team to eat (minimal) salary so both BOS and PHI send out more than they take back.

Orlando Robinson, seldom-used backup C for Sacto, makes exact same dollar amount as Yabu.

Celts trade Baylor Scheierman to Sacto

Kings trade Orlando Robinson plus 2 2RD picks to Philadelphia

Philadelphia trades Yabu to Boston
