Pistons - Kings - Charlotte

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Mon Dec 16, 2024 7:15 pm

Detroit out: Isaiah Stewart, 2nds
Detroit in: Miles Bridges

Kings out: Huerter, Lyles, Colby Jones, 2nds
Kings in: Isaiah Stewart, Cody Martin

Hornets out: Miles Bridges, Cody Martin
Hornets in: Huerter, Lyles, Colby Jones, 2nds from Sac & Detroit

Why for Detroit? Add talent. Bridges is from Michigan and needs a change. Before the issues he was a super talented player who every team would have loved to have as a forward. Cade - Ivey - Bridges - Tobias - Duren looks like it can make a play-in run while the kids grow.

Why for Sac? We need more size. Hopefully Carter will be back after the new year. Stewart and Isaac Jones as the bench bigs brings a ton of hustle, energy, and attitude. We take on an extra year of salary swapping Lyles for Martin as part of the cost.
Fox - Monk - Derozan - Keegan - Sabonis
Carter - Keon - Martin - Jones - Stewart

Why for Charlotte? Start fresh. Lamelo and Brandon Miller are a legit duo. Huerter has started to play better the last few weeks in Sac but really needs a new situation. Coming off the bench as a shooter has been great for him, and he can keep doing that in Charlotte next year as an expiring opening the floor. They dump the 2nd year in Martin's deal and can flip Lyles for 2nds elsewhere. + get 3-4 2nds as part of this deal as additional assets.

Note: Charlotte can choose to send Martin or Grant Williams to Sac. Either one works from Sac perspective.

i think charlotte cuts out sacramento and just take stewart (detroit probably dont want bridges though since they have harris already)

I think the Pistons say no. Bridges seems to overlap with Tobias/Holland/Thompson. Pistons just cut Reed so this trade leaves them without a backup Center and Pistons fans on this board have said the team values Stewart a lot.

Also, are you sure Stewart and Sabonis are a good fit? They seem to have a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses (minus the playmaking for Stewart)

This crossed my mind. I felt Charlotte was too far away from needing a guy like Stewart and absorbing his 2-3 years.
Huerter was interesting to me because with Lamelo/Miller he could rebound some of his value while being an expiring next year. In the meantime he can space the floor allowing them to grow.

Detroit not wanting Bridges is a whole other story. Maybe they don't. I'd think he can co-exist at the forward spot with Tobias. But to be fair I forgot about Holland, and thought Thompson was looked at more of a 2 than a forward.

Ya to be fair I forgot about Holland, that's a miss on my part.

I'd view Stewart as Sabonis primary backup, and a guy who could play next to him in small stretches when we faced larger teams. We struggle against teams with Real PF's. For instance Minnesota, we ask Keegan to guard Ant, which then leaves Derozan to guard Randle. This doesn't solve this all the time, but in stretches Stewart could provide another large body next to Sabonis.

The pistons were rumored to be interested before Bridges had all his issues, but I think that ship has sailed.

If Pistons wanted Bridges, they would've added him last offseason. They're certainly not trading the only rim protector on their team for him.
