Edit? take "a" pay cut?
A $40m pay cut would leave him with a vet min contract. They want him to take a $2m pay cut and Ingram wants a $10m raise.
They want him to take 40 Mil a season and he thinks he's worth more. I'm confused who would give him 40 mil a season. Dude has been injury prone EVERY season and he's not going to win a ship for you..Might be Zack Lavine 2.0 contract
I know what the story was supposed to say... My point was that it reads like it was written by a 3rd grader.
I don't think you can evaluate BI's production in NOP. They have been building around a player that is never there for the past 5 seasons. He is an afterthought in their program and he's averaging 22/6/5. $40m is a gamble, but in a different organization, I think he's worth it. I don't really think anybody is worth anything in NOP because they aren't going anywhere.
You also need to remember that we are talking about average salary. BI's 5-yr max extension would start at about $42m (if he signed it today) and end at around $56. That gets pretty ugly. My guess is that NOP wants him to sign a flat 4/160 or 5/200. That would age pretty well as the cap goes up. Either way, there isn't a contract BI could sign that would make him less tradeable than LaVine.
