dude has a noodle arm. Don't care if he throws with some anticipation...everything was underthrown and the Ravens pass defense is awful.
I'm not worried about the dude winning games. Daboll will make sure no one does that. I'm just saying that it was nice to see someone get the ball and immediately let it fly like Tyrod used to.

you really think with Daboll's job on the line he is going along with the "tank"?
Schoen is way more likely to stay IMO (Mara half measures) but I don't see any scenario Daboll makes it back especially if they end 2-15...I think they are just losing now because nearly every player that is decent is now pretty much on IR. They weren't a good team to begin with but now they have so many no names playing.

Re: OT: NFL 24-25 Thread Cont'd
I would just like a new regime because I don't want the Schoen/Daboll to pick a QB because they are both on the hot seat. That screams panic. Now I want a QB as well. But I don't want the GM to feel he HAS to pick one if they are picking 1-2.
I want the team to evaluate all there options. Picking a QB, picking a non QB, or trading back as well.
I hate having a GM and Coach on hot seat. Remember when Getty was on hot seat and went into that FA spending spree that put us in cap hell (we had that one playoff year) but then it hurt us cap wise for the next 2-3 seasons.

I agree Schoen is way more likely to stay. Even if you think Daboll isn't in on the tank, I certainly don't see someone who is trying to win games.
Make of that what you will.
If he is fired, Mara is probably picking the next coach.

that sounds like a disaster...if you don't trust your GM to hire the coach fire him.
But that does sound like something Mara would do.

Thats why both need to go. Bring in a new front office to have a fresh start and let them pick the coach, QB, etc.

its what should happen but this goes back to my overarching issue when the focus was in other areas.
It always comes back to Mara being the biggest issue. I don't trust him as a decision maker.

Yea, it kinda sounds like Schoen is coming back. And then you probably need to give him 2 more years at least after he gets to pick another coach and QB.
Mara seems to meddle too much and just seems overall clueless and behind the times. He probably feels more vindicated with Barkley so we may even see him meddling even more.
I mean, I do think we can turn this around but its tough to have any faith in Mara and this group. Hopefully they can at least luck into the right QB

Yeah I was about to say the Barkley situation (even though he wouldn't be doing this in NY) is probably going to give him more reason to meddle.
Could be a fun time or a scary time

honestly I don't like that mindset. I want a full evaluation done. I am not there flipping over all-22 tape and having these guys in for meetings.
But I want whoever is making the pick to evaluate this class against the prior class against a future QB class and make the best decision for the franchise.
It's likely that is a QB. But you need to be sure and I don't want whoever is picking to be on the hot seat...it just is a recipe for disaster because this team isn't just a QB away.
Again as of right now I want one of the two QB's...I'm just saying I would prefer to have a GM/Coach not forced into any pick.

Bro you know that’s not how it works. You can’t punt at the top of the draft for the next year. This is not a forced pick. The Giants need a QB.
We are one win from potentially losing out at the top two QBs this year. So You can’t predict we will be in positions for anyone of these dudes next year. It’s to much of gamble that no sane GM would do. Because if you miss out next year on the top two your ****. Meanwhile you could be developing Your QB for this year for two years.
Get who ever the best this year, and roll with it.
No GM is going to punt a whole year if they got the top two picks and need a QB.
The fallout is way too huge if you fail. Ward or SS are not bums.
Hot seat or not. You pick a QB. Both these dudes have more talent than anything on our roster.

even if we get a new GM/coach, we're gonna draft a QB if we pick top-2. we're going to look at cam ward and shedeur sanders and grab whoever they think is better if we have the 1st pick and if we get the 2nd pick, we're going to grab whoever's left. there's a very slim chance we pass up on the QBs for travis hunter but that's about it

what if drew allar and garrett nussmeier don't get better though? then that QB class might not be good either pending arch.. and realistically, we'd need the #1 overall pick to get him

I watch a fair amount of college football Allar and Nussmeir are not that good their on loaded teams with nfl lineman and receivers.
I'm good with Cam Ward but I want Shedeur we need a vocal leader that will change the Giants culture, address nothing but the oline, maybe get a stop gap qb.

It's more than just punting one year too. You'd be potentially punting multiple years because you'd need at least a season or two to make sure whoever you get is the guy.
So if we draft Sanders or Ward, that is already potentially a 3 year project. Taking a chance to kick that can down the road for another potential QB is holding up a lot. It could be the difference between the Giants being relevant in a year or two or another half decade.

It's not just the draft guys. I'm not saying don't pick a QB I just don't want a GM/HC on hot seat for multiple reasons. It's not a good environment for a rookie QB and rebuilding team. I don't want my GM making short term moves to save his job and hurt our cap down the road.

I mean if this was not about a QB I would agree with you, but I’m sure we both agree on ,there is no truly forced pick here. Maybe if the QBs in this draft were being ranked 10-15 I would say yeah don’t force it, but for potential sake, At least the consensus universally is that these two dudes belong at the top part of the drafting board. With that type of evaluation… you have to go QB and if it failed no sensible person could fault you. The Giants have to pick a QB. Its the only thing that can quiet the noise. Hot seat or not.
