Ant you gonna move to MEM?
Edwards
fillers
to Memphis for
Bane
Edey
Aldama
GG Jackson
multiple unprotected FRPs
Memphis would get A+ player for A- level player + tons of value.
Minnesota would retool on the fly by moving its franchise superstar for 3 nice young players all potentially capable of reaching A level.

If the Wolves owned their picks, maybe, but they don't. Also, Ja and Ant together could break very bad.

if "multiple" means like 8 unprotected 1sts Memphis somehow scraped together with other trades, then..... probably still no

Re: Ant you gonna move to MEM?
Locked up 23 year old Ant? I'd trade the entire team and start over before ever considering this. None of the Memphis players excite me at all.
The list of guys I consider trading Ant for is less than 5.

Remove Edey but add both GG and Aldama and 3 unprotected 1sts (the 2026 jumble pick, 2028, and the WSH/PHX pick in 2030).
I doubt Minny is ready to deal Ant though.

What about Bane + JJJ for Edwards + Randle as a basis?

Re: Ant you gonna move to MEM?
For the record, Ant is just 23, the face of the franchise and perhaps someday the face of the NBA. Marketing galore.
The Wolves are in an ownership battle, and the team has rare playoff potential. Can’t piss off the fanbase now.
Ant is just starting a five-year deal (he didn’t even ask for a player option on the end!) on the fun max.
I usually say, “everything has its price” but I think this might be one of the rare exceptions to the rule.

OP, that offer gets a hang-up from Minnesota immediately. Start with Ja and then I think they 'listen'. Trade idea reminds me of NBA2k...
Cheers

I think we are at least 3 years away from there being even a remote chance that Edwards could be available.

And if he was at the moment, the natural trading partner is Utah.

Yeah unless something just goes utterly disastrous, it won't be until he doesn't sign a max extension. At that point Minnesota might consider it. But probably even then, they just play it out. He's likely to be supermax eligible and guys tend to sign that if offered.

Not really. I get that argument now, but in 3 years the picks are pretty well paid. I mean 25 and 27 will both be drafted, 26 probably won’t convey a swap unless the Wolves get hurt or the Jazz get the 1st overall pick and even then I doubt the Jazz are better than the Wolves in 25/26 given the rebuild is not yet complete. So at that point the 28 pick is clean, 29 is top 5 protected, and you don’t own any future claims on us at that point. So why are the Jazz the natural trade partner?

The Wolves don’t own their future. The only Ant trades (I talked about this on another thread,) are for players who are considered as good or better than Ant this season. The list is very small, and is guys like SGA and Luka. The only reasons for the Wolves to make those type trades is to give up the player with more potential long term to get the better return in the short term, and try to win something in the next couple years.

That's why I said at the moment! We could offer all of Minnesotas picks back + all of Cleveland's + the Lakers 2027 1st (1-4 protected) + our picks in 2028 and 2030 (bc of the pick owed to OKC) + swaps + all of George/Hendricks/Williams/Filipowski/Kessler. So, 9 picks, + several swaps + prospects. Draft day would open the possibility of trading who we draft instead of some of the above assets. Basically, in the near term, Utah has a unique sell to Minnesota. 3 years from now most teams will no longer have their current pick based assets.

Edwards is one of very few guys in the league that could prompt OKC in to truly opening the war chest up.

Yeeeaaaaah....this is not even close.
Ant isn't available, point blank. And if he were, Memphis' offer would have to start with Ja and then add unprotected 1sts until Minnesota couldn't say no.

The Ant trade was only possible before he was drafted. I wanted the Grizz to get both Wiseman and Ant to pair with Ja and Jaren.

And even with all those picks, it would be nearly impossible to get MIN to agree to a trade. I’m not saying OKC couldn’t put together an offer with more net value in a vacuum, but the Minnesota franchise couldn’t afford to trade away this popular a player, with such a bright future.
In other words, if MIN is worth $1, the Thunder could add together enough nickel dime and quarter assets to total $1.50, and the Wolves would still say no. I think this it’s important to remember, that the huge war chest doesn’t mean OKC can have any star, and perhaps it’s why we haven’t seen them turn those assets into a star.
