Payne/Deuce/Shamet/Precious/MITCH is not a below average bench IMO. 2-3 of those could spot start and Mitch WAS a starter. You have scoring/scoring and defense/scoring and defense/defense/defense. I would love to upgrade Payne and Shamet and have a healthy version of Mitch if we can find one. We also need an insurance policy for Mitch while he is here that Thibs will play either way.
It's not gonna be a hockey line change. You stagger your bench and work match ups and offense vs defense. Fully healthy we have plenty of talent to keep from having to play guys 40 minutes a night. We have played the least bench minutes in the league in NINETEEN years!We would be far more versatile than playing Payne 10 minutes/Deuce 25/Sims 10 minutes like we were.

McBride and Mitch are solid players but Mitch has not been reliable to play in his career. McBride is really our only consistent and reliable bench piece. Not even gonna bring up those rookies. Well.. Payne has done what we need from him. Deuce has been great for a bench guy. Shamet is not my cup of tea but he is not a terrible player. Need to see what he looks like first. the mod team receives messages on a too regular basis about the decreased usability of this forum because of the incessant trolling, dunk attempts, and general bad faith conversation. and i'm sure for every one of those kinds of messages we get, several members just lose interest and stop participating. this is not the culture or the forum we want.
i think it's safe to say the NYK RGM mod team has provided easily the most laissez-faire forum environment on RealGM. but this has been the result.
some of you lob troll grenades. some of you post unhinged vitriolic rants several times per day. all of it takes away from the quality of the forum.
the split on talking ball, joking, and trolling has gone too far into a trolling ouroburos. and the participants will always just point the finger. at this point, the mod team is not interested in finding patient zero for trolling or some of your perceptions on who needs to "take jokes better." the inside jokes among members we know are kidding each other is one thing. the posts that are clearly meant to get a rise out of whoever broadly are another. it's childish and we've done better.
the trolling playbook of casting stones and hiding behind "jokes" needs to stop.
lastly, aggo is not a martyr. the playbook of using them (and other banned posters) to prop up a culture and posting approach we are trying to moderate feels in bad faith. yes, aggo will be gone for a while. and, to be real, a break might not be the worst thing in the world for some others. for those who don't get the hint, we can and will help.

Payne has been decent honestly, give him credit
We should ideally be able to play the bench more during the regular season but the playoffs come around we are doing what good teams do and getting that 7 or 8 man rotation. McBride and Mitch if healthy will play and Precious might play some as well but who knows, he was not playing in the playoffs last year until Mitch went down to backup Ihart. Now we would have KAT and Mitch so I look at it mostly as either/or. Payne and Shamet probably won’t play. Sims is an afterthought we don’t even talk about him. Obviously the rookies won’t play.
So the 7 man rotation would likely be
Brunson Mikal Hart OG KAT
McBride, Mitch (Precious instead if Mitch is injured, like he’s playing right now)
that’s assuming an entirely healthy team
I’m really just thinking we need that 8th man that’s going to be a more trustable upgrade for the playoffs. But it might not come
