Offers for Andrew Nembhard

Post#1 » by dcstanley » Mon Dec 16, 2024 7:09 pm

I suspect a lot of apron-style contenders are going to hope Indiana is unable to climb up the standings by the deadline. Nembhard is trade eligible in February and his extension doesn't kick in until next year so all it takes is a minimum contract to salary match. He should have a fair amount of trade value as a young, starting caliber two-way guard.

With that being said, what teams should be interested? What is his trade value? Should Indiana be looking to move him?

I'd move Mathurin instead. I think he likely has higher value around the league based on a perceived ceiling that I don't think is realistic for him.

I would certainly value Nembhard over Mathurin

Why should Indy move him?

Recent wins with a healthy Nembhard tell me that Tryrese is much better when Nembhard can run the offense when Ty is pressed. My preference would be to trade a healthy Nesmith but I can see the Mathurin argument since he plays better on the second unit with TJ than starting with Ty.

near zero. Jackson and Wiseman are out for the season so we only have Bryant (signed Sunday) and Toppin as centers behind Turner.

I would keep him... instead send Mcconell/Mathurin for Hunter

We are at our best with two ball handlers on the floor. Two of Tyrese, Nembhard, and TJ play together now that Andrew is back healthy. As a result, I doubt Nembhard or McConnell will be moved.

McConnell isn’t trade eligible this season due to his new extension.

Also, if Indy could even make that trade, it wouldn’t be legal as it would put Indy over the hard cap at the first apron.

Is Hunter the best player of those three? I think it may be McConnell ...

Half bumping this, because I think Nembhard makes sense with Ant? And Minnesota has value to maybe match the asking price?

And like OP says, his contract makes it really easy to make a deal happen for the other team.

But Indy needs to get a rotation forward back and stay cheap. So it might not work without a third team, but there’s some wiggle room with Indy having 15 bodies..

Pacers rested him last night in a back to back and got buried. We just aren't good without Andrew's defense.

Sounded like the Spurs were interested at the right price, but not sure why Indy is moving him.

I kind of like NAW for Nembhard for both teams. Not sure if its possible though

That just calls for Wiseman being dumped on a third team and Indy running 14 man the rest of the season.

That thread was obviously the motivation for me bumping this lol.

I think locked up Nembhard has more value than expiring NAW? But think Minnesota would pay something for the swap if they do want to keep DDV as the third guard.

Or you build this up with a third team/Dillingham and move on from Randle.

Pacers have no need for players shorter than 6'8".

Nothing to turn down yet… Just I could see Minn being very interested in him as the long term partner with Ant.

They have “Dillingham, Donte, NAW, ShannonJr, Det first, Utah 2nd”

Somewhere in there there’s a three team trade that gets someone 6’8 or taller to Indiana if Indy did see Hali/TJ as the main small guard rotation and wanted to upgrade a different position.

Like instead of the Walker/Mathurin for Herb based idea.. Could you build a Toppin/Mathurin/?? for Herb/?? With Minnesota helping pay the value to NOP so Indy can keep Walker’s ceiling in the roster..

Just playing with square pegs here.
