2 unprotected picks for CamJo
Kuzma, Poole, JV for Zion, CJ
Tobias for Jafro/Dean Wade

How can any of these be even remotely justified?

Trade season madness has begun

What is the point in downplaying players on other teams? Even if Cam Johnson goes for 1 1st, an expiring, 2 2nds, and one promising young player, it would be pretty close to what the market has been rumored by NBA insiders. I am not an insider. But, CamJo was a key part of the Durant trade. He is playing better than Bridges. He is the perfect fit for the Lakers and like 2-3 other teams that need to make a move yesterday.

So, I never start a fight here. I am peaceful and love LA. What is going on? Please be honest.

I do believe bridges was a bigger part of the Durant trade as is the multiple first rounder.

Him playing better than bridges doesn’t mean anything unless you are trying say he should get more than bridges did.

While he is on a descending contract, salary matching for trade and trade restriction is still a thing.

Teams would make move if the value works for both team. I guess it haven’t aligned for most discussion yet.

So now CamJo was a "key part of the Durant trade"? Not Bridges, not the 3 firsts? How about the 1st swap, was THAt a "key part"? Or the 2nds? Can the guy who gets picked as 1 of those 2nds now claim he was a "key part in a trade for HOFer Kevin Durant"?

Also, it's not up to the room to be convinced. Like with any trade, you have to convince the room. And you're off to a poor start with "CamJo is worth 2 unprotected 1sts down the track", "CamJO is worth another 10 wins to the Lakers", etc...

I do not think BK wants to trade CamJo. I think they want to have him around when the next group comes in if they are able to keep him. He is young enough and blends in well enough. Plus, his game is mainly below the rim as he's a shooter.

I expect that the Lakers will need to restock assets before becoming a desirable FA destination again. Much like after Kobe they had to add a bunch of high lotto picks (for trade bait to get a 2nd star if nothing else) before they became a plausible option for the top level of star. Maybe an AD trade can speed that up, but if they owe a bunch of their own future 1sts that could also really slow it down.

I wouldn't expect them to become a desirable market for a top-tier star until sometime between 2028 and 2032. Which is too far away to guess who it's going to be.

No issue with that.

Even in a tear down/ rebuild , teams would do well to still surround the youth with some capable vets and a floor spacing cam is that.

He is worth likely 2 1sts (we can argue about the protections but who really cares about that when he instantly makes your team a credible threat to win 10-15 more games with the right roster around him (two other stars who give him open shots)).

I don't see Cam giving a team 10-15 more wins unless it's a team that has no SF at all and maybe playing a 2 guard at SF, but even then 10 wins is a stretch.
