I’d rather have FVV and his 42 million player opt out than deal with Beal’s garbage NTC contract. Send Butler to his hometown team

I feel like he's going to be gone eventually. They would be paying for 2 more playoff Jimmy including this season.
Warriors are going to be desperate, and we need a 3rd team to re-route Kuminga.

That would be a good thing if you can keep your pick in the 2026 draft, no Butler and getting nothing or very little for him (for next season's roster) means this team will be higher in the draft than this year's spot.
That’s why there’s no way they’re getting fleeced for Butler and will either keep him or trade him for the best haul they can that keeps them in the playoff hunt. They need to pay out OKC this year or else they’re really screwed but also have to keep in mind the repeater tax so taking on another 50 mil long term deal is not in the cards either.
Bradley Beal haha I’m just saying man I don’t prefer that route either but he’s the best player they can possibly get to stay as competitive as possible (unless they work out a 3 team landing Fox which imo is a summer thing or they take the Zion gamble) and you know that’s on their mind. Beal 3 2nds and their 1st, the 1st has ELITE potential as Jimmy and KD will be done by then and Booker will also be old and gone at that point.

Right, I don't think he's getting moved unless it's almost all expiring contracts coming back, the FO has painted themselves into a financial corner and the FO/Riley can make Butler the bad guy for leaving vs taking back money that would put them in the repeater next year. If you look around this roster you have to question yourself, is this roster quality wise worth being in the tax, I wouldn't think so. Miami had Butler, Bam and Herro in 2019 (you can also include Robinson in that group) and they've really not added anything of high value in half a decade, just short-term overpayments of players past their prime while saying they were chasing top tier players that resulted in not doing anything 3-4 of those offseasons. Even adding Tucker was a last PF standing in the 2020 offseason after refusing to give Crowder 10 mil a year for 3 seasons.
All of this is absolutely correct. Nobody is discussing the financial ramifications going into next year. I started posting recently our cap situation. There’s zero chance we pay tax next year and head into the even more extreme repeater tax. Micky paid 15 million in tax last year and is looking at 25 million bill this year unless they end up taking less back in trade like they did with Rozier last year.

I’m sick daily thinking of how bad they botched this build. We were so damn close THREE times. We just needed that extra scorer

I would too but from what I’ve seen from houstons side and the fans and all that they’re not teading him away. They view him as their championship PG and heart and soul of the team. They’ll be trying to add Jimmy to that if they ever decide they want to go after Jimmy which right now they haven’t.

Somewhere like Washington could find some use for Kuminga.

Not sure how reliable this is but you'd have to think it's happening.

Once we trade Butler, we need to shut Bam down for the rest of the season. Draft Dylan Harper.

Jimmy a lifer
Mia gonna trade Rozier and Jovic, Id guess, for a better fitting Tito
And once again, an unremarkable regular season will be followed by compelling post season run

I’d like to believe that, but this front office seems to think differently. If he were a lifer, they would have extended him by now.
With all the trade noise coming from Jimmy's camp, things are bound to take a bad turn eventually. Riley needs to make a decision soon.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
Stop with this Beal chit man. There was a planned reason he found his way to the Suns. Beal was actually butt hurt we passed on him during the first round of trade talks and the Suns swooped in to make a deal cause of the Bartlestein’s. He’s not waiving his NTC to make Butler happy.

Yes, if I were betting, I'd say it's either the Warriors or the Rockets.
The real question is, which team will be more desperate?

The build fell apart when Cronin and the Blazers took chit personally and refused to trade Lillard here. That was the move to keep us in the conversation as a contender, but it fell through.
Anything since has been window dressing.

He’s always wanted Miami despite that relationship lol doesn’t matter

Not at a max number which he isn’t likely to get from anyone
I’d guess Mia doesn’t want to be competing against themselves and that’s why they are playing hardball
For the record, I’d pay him if we’re up to me but I get not rushing into a maxed out extension for an injury prone 35 yo when there’s a very, very limited market for him.
This is all the theater of negotiation that will eventually end with Jimmy staying in a Heat uniform, in my view
