Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
Would there be any interest in Kuzma by the Bulls? If yes, then would something like this be too much of an asking price?
Kuzma + Holmes FOR Cam Whitmore + Jabari Smith + filler (Jeff Green + Tate)
Whitmore has not been getting good playing time, he's been in the G-league. Smith is young and has some development ahead of him. If the Rockets want to make a push this year or next, they have enough young talent to work into the rotation, and Smith may not get enough play.

Jabari Smith was the 3d pick in the draft 18 months ago. He's averaged 37.5 minutes per game in December . You really think they'll trade him -- & Cam Whitmore -- for Kyle Kuzma...?
Not a chance.

^^The Nuggets would have to be so ridiculously desperate and have exhausted all their other options to consider that pu pu platter I would think.

They have spend every draft pick they are allowed until 2032, every other 1st rounder and all 2nd round picks. They are in sniffing distance of the 2nd apron where they are hard capped and could only trade out more salary than they take back. And they have no young players that anyone wants. (I like DaRon Holmes but he is rehabbing an achilles tear). Nobody knows how long Jokic will choose to play, he's made it clear this is just a job for him and he'd really rather be on his farm hanging out with his horses. So their window is now.
Interesting that they are interested in Poole and Valanciunas. Dangling the oft injured MPJ and his large contract. I don't see a deal I like though since they have nothing to offer in incentive. MPJ for Kuzma + Bagley or Richaun would save them $12m in expiring contracts at the end of the year, and cap relief going forward with Kuz declining deal. But we don't need MPJ, and they have nothing to sweeten the deal.

I think a good landing spot for Kuz would be Brooklyn.
They don't own a lot of their future so tanking doesn't help them.
Kuz
For
Bogdan, 2025 NYK first, 2025 heat second
So Bogdan is washed, the first of gonna be in the 20-25 range and the second is protected.
Maybe you can get another second or two out of that trade. Idk
Trade two
Clippers
Kuz
For
Tucker, bones, coffey, 2030 second, 2031 first and 2031 second.

The only way Denver can match salary for Poole is by trading MPJ. I can't see them doing that.

I think Jordan Poole is the last player on the touchable list we should trade. He's young he's having an up season. He's a decent tank commander. I wouldn't trade him right now, especially to Denver who have 0 and I mean 0 assets to trade.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
I generally would say anyone outside of the Core 4 (Coulibaly, Sarr, Bub, Kyshawn) is available for trade.
The preferred trade bait would be the Old Heads (Valenciunas, Kuz, Brogdon, Holmes). A group of solid vets still capable of being productive and contributing to a playoff caliber team.
Then we have Club 25 (Poole, Butler, Kispert, Bey, Bagley) who are an interesting group of good young role players just entering their prime who could provide depth to a winning team.
And then there are the Tweens (Johnny Davis, Champagnie, PBJ, Vukcevic), a group of players that are still young and have shown ability, but haven't established a defined role or earned any consistent playing time.
I'd say for the most part the Old Heads would have the most value to a win now team with Championship aspirations who view themselves as a team with a 1 or maybe 2 year window, like the Lakers or Bucks.
The Club 25 may actually have more value, especially to a team that is in win now mode, but views themselves as a team with a potentially bigger window to be competitive, like OKC or Memphis. This group could also hold more value with us as far as players to possibly keep here as foundational veteran depth to support the Core 4 as we build with youth and add more players to that core with this year's draft.
The Tweens are basically candidates to be throw-ins for any possible trades, as young players with some potential upside. Their value for us is they can remain as possible replacements here for any of the Club 25s that do get moved, opening up playing time and opportunity here to show if they can be long term contributors as we play out the season post trades and continue the rebuild.
I'd also note our 2025 1st round pick is off the table, but we do also have 3 2nd round picks (including what would be 31), to include in a trade package, especially as sweetener in return for a 1st rounder. Basically altering a trade scenario where instead of dealing a player for a draft pick straight out, we are dealing said player to "move up", (from 31 to 20 for example).

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
Champagnie is 23 and as good as any of SUPER'S Core 4.
He can score and rebound. His second leap is very quick.

He's going to be a Garrett Temple or Derrick White type player. "Sham Penny" can start on a playoff-caliber team and not be a liability.

Oh I can. Denver needs a talent bump, is in the repeater Tax, and is locked into their core for the next 3-4 years.
Poole + JV for MPJ, Holmes, and Nnaji saves Denver ~27M in lux tax payments!!!
They need a 6th man/scoring guard and efficient/high rebounding Center, and Im not sure they do any better than Poole/JV given their assets.
For us, we get an interesting prospect in Holmes, who despite the limited ceiling/injury, still profiles as a high floor rotational big at worst.
We are also betting on MPJ being a rich mans Kuz that can be a 25 & 8 guy for us in a higher usage role.
We would need another deal to move Kuz, as a Kuz/MPJ forward combo would make me nauseous.

Agree with this as it relates to Poole’s value to Denver. Jordan as a sixth man or third or fourth offensive option (which was his typical role in GS) is a much better player than he is as a first or second offensive option…as he is with the Zards.
I also think the Nuggets might be willing to move on from MPJ, who hasn’t shown a lot of growth as a versatile offensive threat…and he’s due a contract extension that the Denver might not want to give him.

I would say everyone. If they can make a trade to have a chance at a legit 1/2 player on a team - then you include the youngsters if you have to do so...

I thought JV would be gone by now! That dude has been watching the calendar and the clock since the ink dried on his contract.
Kinda interesting that there's some talk about moving Poole after the year he had last year.
Brogdon and Kispert need to get healthy so we can ship them out too!

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
With the season he is having, for the first time since he came here I wouldn't be actively marketing Kuzma. Don't sell at the lowest points he's been in several years. If you get someone to buy into Jordan Poole being as good as he's been thus far this year, sure, sell. Same for JV except I trust JV to maintain his level more. Brogdon hasn't shown anything but another injury; hard to see us getting anything for him. Kispert as well; if you get the value he's shown over the last two years, great, don't give him away because he's injured.

I’d be all in for trading Poole for future draft capital and rolling the rest of the year with a Bub & Champagnie backcourt.
