Nets bought themselves a 2 year window to find a franchise player in 2 classes loaded at the top (Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey, AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, etc). Nets couldn't throw 3 years away and they were probably going to give the Rockets similar if not more value even if they did nothing, so it made sense for them. I don't think Nets lost that trade. Plus they're a big market and I'd expect them to reload heavily in the offseason right after the 26 draft (lots of interesting free agents), so that pick swap may not be as juicy as you expect. But if that's how much Rockets value that swap, just keep it roll the dice.

Well, yes. That’s generally how swap valuations work. Brooklyn probably shouldn’t place much value on it now, as they have several seasons to rebuild before that swap comes available. As they get closer and see how they’re built, valuations can change, but right now, it’s not worth paying an exorbitant amount. If they can get it cheap, great. If not, no worries, we can wait and see.

When the majority of the insiders and fans on here disagree just let it go. It is okay. The Suns picks are much more valuable than the 2027 swap when the Nets are a playoff team. They could have been a play-in, playoff team this year before they started the tank. So imagine their team with 2 FA classes, 2 Drafts, and keeping the core of Claxton, Thomas, Clowney, Wilson, and possibly CamJo together!

call me a homer, but I do not agree that we'd be getting a better center.

As a Nets fan, I will agree. Nic is younger and under a new, downscaling contract. You could make the argument that he's a higher value asset than Turner, who will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. But Myles is a better player right now IMO, and his stretch ability is easier to integrate than Claxton's limited offense.

I would be up for swapping, and Clax might be a better complement to Haliburton. But IND would shy away from this deal, for good reason.

Crawling back offering a 2 for 1 price? While technically that's accurate, with full context, I think the Nets got a steal in that pick trade. When initially reported, it sounded like a ton, but when you sort through the details, it was actually good value. Saying it was 2 for 1 is like touting getting 2 $10 bills for one $20 bill.

The Nets basically netted a swap (cancelled) and an unprotected FRP, in what experts believe to be very strong drafts, for 2 lesser swaps (1 in the same draft as the other swap) and 2 unprotected picks in unknown drafts in the relatively distant future.

If you ignore ownership, it would probably cost most teams 2 future picks or at least a future pick and a swap to get into the first round of any draft, in this case '26. The fact that the Nets can control where that pick winds up is an added bonus. It would probably cost at least 1 unprotected future pick to get from where the Suns pick is expected to wind up to where the Nets pick will wind up.
