There's really only eight guys I feel like are locks or close to it:
Giannis, Lillard, Tatum, Brown, Mobley, Mitchell, Brunson, KAT.
That's 2 guys from 4 of the top 5 East Teams. But then things start getting tricky. Atlanta and Miami will probably each get one guy, my guess would be Trae Young and Jimmy Butler. So that's 10 spots. Orlando should have Wagner as a lock, but given his injury status don't know what's going on with him. So for those last few spots you're looking at:
Wagner (injury ???), Siakam or Haliburton, Lavine or Vucevic, Cunningham, Maxey, Adebayo, Garland. But that's a pretty underwhelming list. None of those guys scream "absolutely has to be an all star." White would be right up there with any of them.
So there's like 8 locks then a whole lot of ehhhh.
Agreed on your 8.
Also, you forgot Lamelo.
Problems in Philly, Orlando and Miami leave it wide open after that.
Goodness the East All Stars look terrible this year -- good thing for them it's not an East/West format this year!
In order for Derrick to make it, he and the Cs will need to get really hot for a stretch here
Giannis, Tatum, KAT, Lillard, Mitchell
Brunson, Brown, Garland, Mobley, Ball
Bam
Leaves one spot for Cunningham? Maxey? Haliburton? White?
I love DW, but don't know that I'd feel good about his chances there
Of course, the format this year is new and different so how many All Stars are there actually going to be?
https://www.nba.com/news/2025-nba-all-star-game-new-formatAnswer: 24 All Stars, 3 teams of 8, named after Charles/Kenny/Shaq gross that's going to be awful, plus the winner of the Rising Stars game
My assessment: Derrick might make it as an injury replacement if he and the Cs have a hot next month
