Interesting he's citing us seeking a lob threat to complement Brook while also saying Brook has generated no shortage of trade interest.

Something around Bobby or Connaughton/MarJon and a pick seems way more likely than a Brook trade. But with centers who can defend and shoot being at such a premium maybe there's a deal out there we'd do.

Either way, other than Robert Williams III, what other lob threats do we think Horst is making calls about?

Hoopshype has quotes of a few different parts from today's Marc Stein / Fischer piece about the market for centers for anyone looking for more context.

This part stood out to me too -- Looney sure isn't a lob threat, but maybe Trayce Jackson-Davis is someone we're looking at there:

After swiftly addressing its need for a secondary scorer behind Stephen Curry with Sunday’s acquisition of Dennis Schröder, Golden State is still evaluating its own center rotation, sources say. The Warriors have famously filled minutes with defensive savant Draymond Green at the five spot. And while Steve Kerr is known to hold great affinity for Kevon Looney, Golden State’s veteran center has garnered plenty of early interest from around the league, sources say, as the Warriors consider whether or not to add another piece to a rotation that also features standout sophomore Trayce Jackson-Davis. Before ceding the role back to Looney recently, Jackson-Davis started 18 games this season.

First names that come to mind are Nick Richards or Mark Williams.

I read that as Mark Williams or Mark Williams.

Seriously though, we should be talking to Charlotte. I would say Williams or [I am going to keep saying this even though it is *questionable*] Monsieur Diabetes.

Bobby randomly mentioning the Hornets could use a stretch 4 definitely stood out to me.

Seems plausible the Charles Lee relationship leads to mutual admiration.

Also a spot Bobby would put up some stats and they give him a fat extension.

Duren is going to need to eventually get dealt.

Connaufhton, Beauchamp and the ‘31 1st would help now and get us under the second apron if I’m not mistaken.

My guess is they're holding onto Marjon to potentially use as a contract to make up the #'s in a deal before the deadline. He's their 3rd most tradeable one, after Bobby & Pat. And they can use him to aggregate, if they take back 7+ million less in salary.

They make a 2-for 1 or 3 for 1-2 type deal including guys like Bobby, Pat, Marjon, Delon & maybe a pick. Get back an athletic big and/or big wing. And then have DSJr &/or Davis replace them on the roster as a handling/creating guard.

Dennis smith would be nice on this team! Good call

Reckon he could be a bargain. Seems to have gone down the Bogut route of over bulking in his second year and has lost his spring.

If Golden State has also come to this conclusion that could be the basis for a consolidation trade for Bobby.

Trayce Jackson-Davis + Lindy Watters III + Looney for Bobby works under the cap.

Send them a minimum guy via an exception. Waive or trade someone else to open another roster spot.

I know Lindy was getting clock there for a time. Not sure what his valuation would be to us or the Warriors post-Schroder.

Of course how the Bucks value Jackson-Davis is the crux. If he's a rim runner who can help now with potential to improve that's different than if he's a soft developmental project who can't shoot.

Looney coming here would be a hedge in this scenario, but alternatively, a multi-team deal could get the salaries to work if it just wouldn't make sense to have both.

The demise of Kevon Looney has been greatly exaggerated.

He's far from cooked at the tender age of 28. He's averaging almost 8 rebounds a game. Still is a great switchable player (for those who bow down at the alter of stats that prove your narrative, he is rated at 105.1 this season).

Yes, he's a bad free throw shooter and I'm sure I can find other flaws in his game. I rely a lot on my buddy who now lives in the Bay area and is a retired coach. Says he would fit perfect for what the Bucks need.

Henry Ellenson had a great game.39 points, 12 or 13 rebounds. Terrence Davis had a bad game. Shot ok but turned the ball over a lot. I love their point guard James Akinjo, from Baylor, but neither he, nor anybody I've seen so far can help the Bucks. It was only one game, so maybe Davis was rusty.

Winslow never plays.

Unlike last year, when I identified Rollins early on a really good defender and saw improvement in Livingston, the Herd is not a consistent feeder program for the Bucks.

But I do enjoy sitting in the second row and watching college All Americans for one tenth the price of a Bucks ticket.

If you haven't been to a Herd game, it's a family atmosphere, but a little too much loud noise from the blabbing announcers for my old years.

Still, I'd recommend everyone go to a game.

I recently moved to the area and went to the home opener. While you say family atmosphere, I say all out playground. Just kids running up and down the steps, kids running in the aisle...shocked a kid didn't run on the court. Maybe I just need to start sitting in the second row to avoid that.

I was at that game and everything you said is true. I get there early, take my seat and stay out of the way of the "family atmosphere".

Whoever this Jake Fischer is, I think this is a total fabrication.

Does anyone believe that Horst calls other teams and tells them what the Bucks are looking for in terms of bball skills? How gullible are people? Or does Horst call agents or reporters and say these are the skills I want.

I know people have to make a living, but this attention seeking journalism is getting so prevalent in sports and every facet of life, I'm glad I have no social media skills, except Real GM.

Agree with those. If we wanted to make a low asset investment, I'd throw Charles Bassey out there.

They signed him, at least to the Herd. So it was their idea. Next one would be to call him up.

Over the last 3 seasons, DSJ had shot 25% from 3. We've already seen what it looks like pairing Giannis with playoff Bledsoe, and it wasn't good.

DSJ is the kinda guy you pick up if you’re Utah and try rehab his image/value in the hope you might get a useful asset from a wannabe contender down the line.

He makes zero sense on this bucks team. Who is he taking minutes from? Green? Ajax? Midds?

Can I add that DSJ sucks too. He has been in the league since 2017 and has never looked close to being the type of guy who helps win games. He has no redeeming skills or qualities that this team needs.

He's actually a decent playmaker and has become an outstanding defender. It's just really tough to put a non shooting PG on the floor with Giannis, and DJS is one of the games worst shooters.

The interesting part of a Portis/Timelord 3 way deal is we get to pocket some assets in the deal. I'd think if we create a roster spot, we can get Timelord and Banton, and still have a little leftover.

Combine that with Patty C contract slot, and the 2031- 1st, and you could make another serious addition. It needs to be a youngish player though to give up the 2031- 1st.

DSJ being a pretty nasty defender at point guard last season would be the one redeeming quality you look to bring him in. Pretty much the reason we brought in Wright who has fallen on his face in that role. Last season of dudes over 1k minutes was #3 in deflections per 36, #2 in steals per 36, had a 3.0 ast/to ratio too.

Is he a "good player"? Not really. Is the guy we probably get to replace Marjon Beauchamp going to be good. Probably not.

Hate Williams' injury stuff but he'd be a really fun addition. Wonder where the valuation on a guy like him compared to Bobby actually is around the league.

Bucks in: Timelord
Clippers in: Bobby
Blazers in: PJ Tucker, LA 2030 1st, Marjon

or

Bucks in: Timelord, Cody Martin
Blazers in: Grant Williams, Marjon, 3 2nd round picks (2 from CHA 1 from MIL)
Hornets in: Bobby, Pat
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

I'm warming to the idea of rolling the dice on Timelord though. Another 3-team trade where Bobby gets flipped for a draft asset would probably be required, but he'd be an awesome pairing in theory with Dame. Spacing concerns are valid, but I think the force multiplying rim protection and lob gravity of a Giannis/Williams frontcourt would be worth it when you have 3 snipers around them with Dame, Khris, and one of either Trent or AJ.
I'm also thinking along these lines of a good athletic big that's active and can play the dunker spot.
