Wiggins is having a big time year.. if he keeps the offense up and they play the Wiggins/Dray/Looney trio more, his metrics will keep spiking too. His defensive impact peaks then
And honestly, time is not on their side. Dray's been teasing a big decline defensively for about a month. His perimeter defense has dropped a lot and his closeout rate is the worst since theyve started tracking it
Steph was having trouble getting separation, I was getting klay flashbacks during the game.
Re: steph, I really think it was olympics that is causing him to struggle. Hes looked tired since the season started.
I know many will disagree, but might be time to lean on Wiggins little bit more. We tried giving jk a 30 usg and the most shots, couldn't hurt to let Wiggins have a go at it.
Dray, I don't know what's going on with him. His defense looked cooked this game.
Starting line up: it looks discombobulated. They were trying to give Schroeder some pnr opportunities but kerr kept putting Dray or loon as the screener/roller. Amd like I mentioned in another thread, Schroeder will drive, but he isn't a great finisher. It gets compounded with dray and loon. It's a style issue much like it was with jk.
Path forward has to be to lean into the motion more with steph, heild, wiggs, dray, and loon with the starters, not less.
The bench can play a more traditional pnr game without dray. I'd consider bringing up post as a pick and pop threat because tjd continues to look rough.
Lastly, we need to shorten the rotation. Let guys start getting comfortable.
Steph/Schroeder
Heild/podz
Wiggins/moody
Dray/jk
Loon/slomo
10 man rotation and stick with it.
