Re: PG - KNICKS vs Wolves: KAT Brings Home The Win!!!
I liked the size and versatility of this line up. Precious just seems like a natural fit next to KAT
BUT I highly doubt Thibs will bring Josh off the bench so I'm not gonna delude myself.

Guy is an absolute moron, we can all sit here and realize the importance of size in the starting lineup, and this idiot will still play Hart over him.

Precious should stay in the starting lineup, have Hart be the sixth man. Great team win.

It absolutely did. The results of trading for Gobert is playing out in real time. The mistakes they made after wouldn't have been an issue if they didn't have to address the money they spent on a one dimensional center. The picks package theys sent out looks worse than the 5 picks for Mikal right now. Too scared to admit they were wrong and ship Gobert out instead? That's on them. If they don't make that trade, the cap/apron rules wouldn't matter. Now they follow it up with an even worse trade. Gobert was the first domino. Dumb trade.
They made the Conference Finals last year and were many people's favorite to come out of the West going into this season. They built a contender with KAT and Gobert, and they could have kept them both. Trading KAT for Randle closed that window, but their window was open with both players on the roster.
Well... hindsight is 20/20. The Gobert trade opened this door. They walked through it. They didn't need Gobert to LOSE in the WCF. It was a dumb trade IMO. It led to even worse moves afterwards. It didn't get them a title and, the aftermath is them in a downward spiral. KAT at the 5 is working just fine here. Maybe they should have traded for OG/Precious type players. The picks they gave up and the money they paid him are also ridiculous.
We can agree to disagree sir. I never liked the trade and I think Gobert is massively overrated and overpaid. He's basically a healthy Mitch. In he end...that trade was better for us than it was for them.
Mitch is lazy, Gobert isn’t.
The problem is Randle, and their coach isn’t good. He was exposed last year. His rotations are almost as bad as Kerr’s.

If you continue repeating this ad nauseam until Mitch finally returns, expect to be openly mocked and laughed at. Just leave it be for the time being and let's see how it plays out, I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised.
No one is actually worried about that, it’s just supposed to sound smart…

Finch is the problem. He's still running offense like KAT was still there. And Conley isn't a starter anymore.

Word, he could have at least dapped up Brunson and Deuce. He played with those guys a lot. Especially Brunson who really made Julius take off even more.
Nothing burger. Wolves got trashed at home. Why would he be all smiles and high fives? Honestly, no one looks happy on that team after an L.

Tbf, most of us that didn't like the trade didn't argue this point. We were ignorant about kat. With his defensive defiencies we thought he wasn't talented enough to make us championship contenders.
Fair but some were complaining so insufferably that there is not enough crows in the world to eat
It really is fair and I wasn’t ever going to bring up the term “crow“, but you’re right lol.

Maybe the coach isn’t the problem. He took them to the WCF last year.

I don't think it's a coincidence he's playing more aggressive without Hart in lineup. Without Josh, he doesn't just stand in the corner, and gets the ball more so he scores and passes more, and he plays better D when he's this aggressive. Tbh, we're at our best with an aggressive Mikal.
Also with Precious next to KAT, I feel like KAT plays more loose too, no pressure on him as the last line of D. Although he leads the L in rebounding, I'm sure KAT loves someone else help rebound when he can't get them.
Please bring Hart off the bench... he can wreak havoc with the 2nd unit with his own playmaking skills.
Been saying it from the start… Hart as the 6th man instead of a starter unlocks this team… his fit with the starters is clunky.
Even when we won blowout games with Josh in lineup, I never genuinely liked the team's passing, it didn't feel organic, felt semi forced, and most of all NOT spontaneous.
I can totally see this game was way different, the passing felt organic, smooth, and spontaneous.
The passing from that 2nd unit/starting unit that was in the 2nd quarter was some of the best the Knicks have done this year, and their ball movement this year is the best it's been since...probably the championship teams.

I still can't believe the Wolves FO looked at KAT, Gobert, Reid and McDaniels and reached the conclusion that of all these players, KAT was the one to trade away. These other guys are good players but KAT's another level of talent. It boggles the mind.
The trade set them back a decade.
And I think ANT knows it.
Welcome to the New York Knicks…

Maybe. Probably. And it gets him more touches, which unlocks him too.
But the Knicks/Thibs had been working to get Bridges more touches and he was kind of rounding into the clear 3rd option for the last 5 games before this one.
Will be interesting to see if Mikal has another extra strong game like this soon after Hart is back in the lineup.

Okay, i was a KAT doubter for sure. And he proved me wrong, im a HUUUUGE fan now and i have no problem admitting that i was wrong initially. Hes showing us things he didnt show in minnesota. That grit and aggressivenes, i havent seen it before. He cleary changed his demeanor. In minny he turned into a spot up shooter, stretch four type of player, that could pop out of screens and be a deadly shooter.
Now in hindsight its easy to say "how could they trade KAT??" he wasnt this type of player the last years. in addition to that, Minnesota was making a business move. They wanted to unload salary to pay the up and comming players, which they wouldnt have been able to with KAT on the payroll. So i dont think its fair to bash minnesota for that trade.
i am very certain, if KAT played in minny like he does now, no shot they would have traded him.
before he arrived, before we saw them play in NY i was sure JB is our best player by far. Now im not so sure anymore, KAT is a monster. And im so glad he proved me wrong.
im bout dat action boss

So, and this is what makes KAT so good for the Knicks, is that when the Knicks subbed in Precious or Sims (and this will hold for Mitch), Knicks had lineups like Brunson/Deuce/Bridges/Sims/KAT
Brunson/Bridges/Deuce/KAT were 4 out and Precious or Sims were cutting/flashing. Yes, there was other ball movement.
So, while 5 out is the ultimate goal, lots of teams are 4 out and there is still a lot of spacing. Would it be great for the Knicks to get a backup 4/5 that shoots better than Precious or Mitch? Sure. But Thibs had 4 out looking pretty good against a good defense in the Wolves.
IF Mitch is healthy, a tallish 3/4 who can shoot is the answer. Which would be Dadiet, but he's too raw. Maybe by game 70 Thibs might let him get burn.
Right now Dadiet with the short leash/quick hook, but Thibs has done this with other young players only to have them turn out good, so maybe it does. Or it might be next year.
