Two thoughts
- you have to know the Kings direction after the trade to craft an offer. Are they blowing it up? Are they retooling around Sabonis? Two wildly different scenarios.
-Fox is a nice player, the right age, but some people here are vastly overrating him. If you live by advances stats, FVV is a far more impactful player. Jabari is on his way to being a more impactful player. Some of these packages are massive overpays and would make the Rockets worse.

Kings have guards they like. Monk, Ellis, Huerter and Carter. They like Murray. I would assume those pieces would form the core of how they would move forward.
Depending on the best offer you have you look to go from there. And I get some people love Fox and hate Sabonis and other love Sabonis and hate Fox. Why I am willing to see which offer for either, if any, I like better.

Impact stats are based on the players contribution to the team and the context of the team makeup need to be taken into account. FVV, being a solid offensive player, on a strong defensive team playing many negative offensive guys will have his impact pop. Fox, an offensive guard, playing in an offense team beside 2 other offensive guards/wings and an offensive C will see his impact diminish.
If HOU keeps Amen/Tari, its a no brainer for them to upgrade the pg position here. Him and Sengun surrounded by that defense competes with the best in the west

Bad trade for Pels. They suck, why are they giving up good assests to add FVV?
The team that should be in play for Fox is Brooklyn. They have a ton of picks and Simmons's massive expiring. Send like 3 firsts and him to Sac. Bench him for the year to keep the tank going and roll out next season with:
Fox, the Cams, Claxton and the draft pick.
In my opinion New Orleans has been marginal for a long time partly not having a strong point guard. But I get you don’t want Fred so that is fine.
I'm not a Pels fan, but it's just not a good deal. The Nets make sense as do a cpl other teams.

Re: DeAaron Fox To Rockets
I don't see any way the Kings blow it up to the extent of dealing Fox during the season.
Now if we are sitting here next year and Fox is in a contract year and the Kings are still struggling...
That would likely mean they failed in the '25 offseason to add the right pieces around him and Sabonis.

I don't think I agree. Its not just about does it make you better....its... is it the best use of your assets against other options? If it was a free agency scenario and all it costs was cap space, sure, might be a no brainer.
Lets suppose there are two scenarios:
Trade FVV, Jabari and 2 firsts for Fox
or a random scenario like
-Keep FVV, resign to a reasonable deal like 3-60 in the offseason
-Keep developing Jabari
-Trade the 2 picks with expirings for some other asset, maybe Cam Johnson.
Two years down the line, I think I am better off with scenario 2 and its just a better use of assets.

I get you don’t like the deal. The Kings won’t want VanVleet so he needs to be routed elsewhere in any Kings Trade

I think Fox and Van Vleet doesn’t work great.
How about bring in New Orleans
Sacramento
Sends: Fox, Trey Lyles
Receives: Ingram, Missi, Jabari Smith
New Orleans
Sends: Ingram, Missi, 1st
Receives: Van Vleet
Open to another option than Missi but New Orleans needs to send 3M in salary
Houston
Sends: Van Vleet, Smith, 1st
Receives: Fox, Lyles
Why for Sac:
Balances out the lineup adds picks
Why for Houston:
They add Fox and Lyles on an expiring
Why for New Orleans.
They turn Ingram on the verge of losing for nothing into Van Vleet.
Just commenting on the Pelicans part- they give up expiring Ingram, good rookie and a 1st for 30+ y/o VanVleet on an expiring contract (or player option for 40m) when they have Murray at PG?
I don’t know that New Orleans should consider center an Ingram for FVV swap, let alone adding in Missi and a 1st. What do they even do with Murray, FVV, and CJ?

Re: DeAaron Fox To Rockets
I think Kings should cash out on Fox, this season looks like lottery and next season he is expiring. He already said he wants to win, so him extending isn't a sure thing

This is a close to superstar return. lol
You can get several firsts just for Jabari and Jalen green as well.
I love fox but I don’t understand how a superstar return for a non superstar is possibly “not close”. Very homer response
Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.

You might be surprised that poster you are quoting is not actually a Kings fan....but actually a Rockets one.

You might get a single 1st between Jabari and Green

If you are going to do this trade I still think you need a third team for FVV….. so what if you did the following
Trade FVV, Jabari and 2 firsts for Fox
Houston trades:
out: FVV, Jabari Smith, Cam Whitmore, 1 first
In: Fox, Robert Griffith
Sac trades
Out: Fox
In: Jabari Smith, Jeremi Grant, 1 1st
Portland
Out: Jabari Smith, Robert Griffith
In: FVV, Cam Whitmore or a first
Houston: Gets Fox and cleans out FVV
Portland: clears out salary, gets FVV to mentor young guards, young prospect in Whitmore or a first
Sac: Gets 2 forwards and adds a pick.

Frankly, any team, including the Rockets, can beat this offer.

Of behalf of all Suns fans, I'll volunteer our next pick (2031 lol) for the pair of them.

I'm a rockets fan. Jalen Green should have negative value at this point, though I'm sure some team would take him for free as a lotto ticketPattycakes wrote:K_chile22 wrote:This is not close for Sacramento

I’m probably the minority, but I truly don’t think this is a trade Houston has to or should make.
Fox wants superstar money and isn’t a superstar. This is a recipe for disaster.

I tend to agree...I'm not sure the value gap between Fox and FVV is enough to break up the deep young core. I'm not saying they're of equal impact, but FVV is a solid vet PG that can hold it down until Amen or the Reed can take over running the team.

Re: DeAaron Fox To Rockets
There isn't going to be an in-season trade that involves Green that doesn't include the Pistons due to his extension, and even then, it would be really difficult for the Rockets to send out enough money to match a max deal coming in.
FVV would have to go to the Kings, Fox to the Rockets, Green to the Pistons with some money going out. I suspect it has to wait until the summer.

Re: DeAaron Fox To Rockets
Castle, Vassell, and 3 1sts from SA for Fox is something the Kings should take.
The Rockets could top it with Jabari, Reed, VanVleet, and that 27 PHX pick while taking back Huerter and Lyles with Fox but would they? And should they?
